HIStory, Our Future: Exact-Day PropheciesThis page is to accompany the charts of the 70 weeks of Daniel and assist in the scriptural explaining of where in scripture I believe the exact days between events exist. This gives us a Biblically founded framework of exact days between main events in the 70th week. These events, the abomination of desolation, the sixth seal, Christ’s return in glory, and more, all detail the future with the very same precision that the first 69 weeks of Daniel’s prophecy has. In looking at these times, keep in mind that they fit in prophetic time, which is 12 30-day months and 360-day years. This changed at certain events in history which are recorded in the Bible. Guy Cramer’s two papers 360 vs. 365 and Isaiah’s Sundial & Joshua’s Long Day cover the reasons for the changes from a Biblical and scientific point of view. God designed it so that prophecy would be fulfilled on His original timeline, despite how the solar system is no longer in perfect sync. God’s clock doesn’t change. The prophetic years are 360 days long (12 x 30-day months), and I believe that is the clock that prophecy runs on. 1290 Days (3½ Years + 1 Month)Daniel 12:11 I believe this marks the time period from the beginning of the great tribulation, at the abomination of desolation, to when? Daniel 12 covers the time at the abomination of desolation and it’s end is the end of the 70th week of Daniel. We get that scope of Daniel 12:11 from earlier in the chapter. Daniel 12:4-11 I believe that “knowledge shall be increased” is speaking to the nature of Bible prophecy, that as you get closer to the fulfillment, the parts that don’t make sense will begin to. We also have the benefit of hindsight and history that those like Daniel did not have and through the millenia dedicated people have studied and researched history that we benefit from today. I believe we are in that time now and Bible prophecy is opening up like we never thought possible. As we can see, when Daniel received these prophecies, he was lost and confused. But he was told that the understanding was not for him, but the time of the end. So let us now be wise and understand, trusting in the source, the Bible to interpret for us. The context of Daniel 12 is the last 3½ years of the 70th week of Daniel. The chapter starts out with the abomination of desolation, the same time marked to begin the 1290 days. However, we also see reference to the 1260 day period where the antichrist will be going after the Jews and those holding the testimony of Christ. (As a sidenote, this also speaks to Michael standing up, whos tands for Israel. I believe this is the restrainer of 2 Thessalonians 2, which coincides with the time of great tribulation.) The 3½ years to “scatter the power of the holy people” can only be talking about the antichrist’s 1260 day rule, Revelation 13:5 and Daniel 7:25, in which he tries to kill all the Jews and Christians who won’t worship him. That time ends upon Christ’s return in glory. Revelation 19:20 However, the time from the abomination of desolation is 1290 days, not 1260 days.
This is the same end-point in Daniel 9:24, which gives the scope of the whole 70 weeks of Daniel period. It ends with the sealing of the vision and the prophecy. This will be accomplished after Christ returns in glory and takes the kingdoms. After Lucifer is bound in the bottomless pit, then those who died during the last 3½ years under Lucifer’s rule will be resurrected. Revelation 20:4-5 (more on the Scope of Daniel 12:11) So from my perspective, the scope of these 1290 days begins at the abomination of desolation and ends wtih the end of the 70th week of Daniel, when the fulfillment of the wrath of God and Yeshua assuming His reign at His return. You can see a chart of this laid out with the rest of the following scriptures here. Alternative Views:Some believe the beginning of the 1,290 days at the abomination of desolation starts at the exact mid-point of the 70th week of Daniel (day 1,260). I don’t believe it’s the exact middle for the following reasons. Daniel 9:27 Midst (H2677) While it can be taken to be the exact middle, it’s also the midst of two parts. The main reason I think this is not exactly the middle is because of what the 70th week of Daniel is. It is God dealing with the nation of Israel again. 70 weeks are determined for Israel, and the 70th is the final 7 years appointed to Israel. Therefore, the ending of the 70th week would most logically be at the end of Israel’s protection in the wilderness and the first resurrection of Revelation 20:4-5. So how does that equate? Well, it’s based on the combination of the exact day prophecies of Daniel 12:11, Revelation 12:14, and Revelation 13:5. Revelation 12:14 According to Christ in Matthew 24:15-22, the abomination of desolation is the start of the great tribulation. Daniel 12:11 places that at the beginning of a 1,290 day period of time. There is no end marked for this time, so we’ll leave it open-ended for now. I believe the other scriptures fill that in for us. We know the dragon gives the beast his power as soon as he is cast out of heaven, triggering the abomination of desolation. Revelation 12:13 That is also when the beast, working as the dragon’s proxy, would seem to kill 2/3 of Israel at the time of Jacob’s trouble. This is why Christ told those in Judea to run to the mountains as soon as they saw the abomination of desolation. Notice He only warned them in Judea to run. The woman of Revelation 12 represents the nation of Israel. The key to this is that the beast only has that power for 1260 days, Revelation 13:5, and that time ends upon Christ’s return in glory at Armageddon. Revelation 19:20 Therefore, the beast never makes it to the 1,290th day. You see, Israel is protected in the wilderness for 1,260 days, protected from the face of the serpent. Revelation 12:14 The 70th week of Daniel is focused on Israel as a nation. Daniel 9:24 If the abomination of desolation is at day 1260 in the 70th week, then Israel would be protected from the abomination of desolation to the end of the week, the full 1260 days. However, that’s not what scripture says. According to scripture, the dragon gets most of Israel immediately after the abomination of desolation and 1/3 are taken to the wilderness after that. Those are protected for 1260 days. Therefore, if the abomination of desolation is at day 1260, then Israel would be protected in the wilderness 30 days after the end of the week that’s specifically appointed to them as a nation. However, if the 1290 days isn’t the exact middle, but the midst of two parts, then the abomination of desolation takes place 30 days before the exact middle of the week and the time of Jacob’s trouble would then last from the abomination of desolation to the point that Israel is protected in the wilderness. They would be protected for 1260 days and that number of days would then be almost to the end of the 70th week because the time of Matthew 24:15-28 is cut short for Israel, otherwise the dragon would get the other 1/3 that are to be protected in the wilderness. Therefore, Israel would be brought out of the wilderness just before the end of the week and I believe the resurrection of Revelation 20:4,5 would then take place, marking the end of the 70 weeks of years appointed to Israel. Note in Revelation 12 when the serpent is cast into the earth with great wrath, he initially goes after Israel, but only after they are protected does he spend the rest of his 1230 day reign making war with the remnant of her seed that keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Yeshua. I believe the time of Jacob’s trouble is cut short by their protection from the revealed antichrist and after that point he goes after Christians in the world. At some unknown point however, the signs of the sixth seal will herald the day of Christ and the blessed hope for believers and the doom of God’s wrath on the world for the remainder of the beast’s reign.
1260 Days / 42 Months / 3½ Years (Time[1], Times[2], Dividing of Time[½])There are actually several verses that talk about this period of time. This doesn’t mean, however, that all these time periods of 1260 days happen at the same time. We need to examine the context around these verses to define their boundaries in space-time. Revelation 13:5 - Power given to the beastRevelation 13:1-8 This is the man of sin, the “antichrist.” I go into more depth describing him here. This is the same 3 ½ year time period I’ll get to below in Daniel 7:25. I believe this is the point from the abomination of desolation after the dragon is cast to the earth when the dragon gives the antichrist his power, which continues until Christ throws the beast and false prophet into the lake of fire upon His return in glory. Revelation 19:20 From this we know that Christ’s return in glory is 3 ½ years after the abomination of desolation. Revelation 12:6 - Woman fled to wilderness 1260 daysRevelation 12:5,6 Revelation 12:14 - Israel taken into the wildernessRevelation 12:7-17 I hold the theory that this is the same instance of the woman at the same time as that of Revelation 12:14, just that the 3½ year period is written in two ways, literal days (verse 6), and figurative terms (verse 14). In one case, the woman flees to the wilderness and the other the woman is taken into the wilderness. One implies action being done by the woman and the other implies an act being done to the woman. However this disparity could be that of course the woman is fleeing, but guided to her ultimate destination and protected from the forces that attempt to wipe her out, so while she is fleeing, she is also essentially being carried into the wilderness for protection from the dragon. Daniel 7:25 - Saints given into the hand of the beastDaniel 7:19-27 This is the same time period that the dragon gives his power to the beast. It begins at the abomination of desolation and ends when Christ returns in glory and throws the beast and false prophet into the lake of fire, effectively removing their power. Revelation 19:20 This is also the “great tribulation” that the church of Thyatira are thrown into in Revelation 2:22. There is a distinction between the great tribulation in Matthew 24:15-22 and this one. This one lasting 3½ years is a general reference to Satan going after anyone who belongs to God. Matthew 24:15-22 speaks to a time of Jacob’s trouble, focused specifically on the nation of Israel, the Jews. You’re either a Jew or a not-Jew. (Gentile) This time is so clarified as separate, that it is called the time of Jacob’s trouble and is said with the pretext of, “And these are the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.” This time is also specified as a singular moment in all of history that will never be repeated these three places in the scripture: Matthew 24:15-22, Jeremiah 30:1-7, & Daniel 12:1 Therefore, the “great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” is specifically for the Jews, and therefore, the church of Thyatira cannot be thrown into it. When you study just when the church will be removed, you see that it is at the end of or after Israel’s great tribulation is over that the bride (church) is removed. That’s when Thyatira would be thrown into great tribulation by being left behind. Matthew 25:1-13 We as the church are spiritual Israel, True Israel. We are grafted onto the root (Christ) from wild trees. But the Jews are the natural branches. There is a distinction made by God through His Word on this point. Romans 11 The natural branches will be broken off in unbelief, but they are natural. Christ is a Jew, born of the Jews through a lineage that goes back to Adam through Abraham, just as promised. Matthew 1 These natural branches that are broken off can be grafted back in as the wild branches are. This is based on the acceptance of Christ as our savior and obedience to His ways of Love. In that relationship we are all of the seed of Abraham who lived by faith and are branches of the root, which is Yeshua. Daniel 12:5-7 - Abomination of desolation to Christ’s return in gloryDaniel 12:5-7 This speaks to a 1260 day period of time when “he” will have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people. Who is he? We know from Daniel 7:25 that it is the antichrist who is given power over the saints for 3 ½ years. This is the great tribulation, divided into two section by Revelation 12. When Lucifer is cast out of heaven and gives his power to the beast (antichrist), he goes after Israel first, Revelation 12:7-9; 13, and then once he can no longer get the woman, he goes after the remnant of her seed and those holding the testimony of Christ. Revelation 12:17 Revelation 11:2,3 - Jerusalem trodden down and the two witnessesWe have what I believe are two separate times of the same duration mentioned one verse separated from each other. Are they the same time? Revelation 11:1,2 The first thing I notice about this passage is that it is focused on the temple and the temple is measurable, therefore physical. We also learn that this temple has no outer court. For more detail on why that’s significant, read the Temple Mount Bible study. I believe it has to do with the Jewish temple being rebuilt next to the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount in the near future. So the outer court is left out and the gentiles tread the holy city for 42 months, which is 1260 days, or 3½ years. We know that the Gentiles will be in control of Jerusalem under the rule of the antichrist until Christ returns in glory. It is at that point that Christ destroys the armies and re-takes Jerusalem for 1,000 years. So the beginning is 1260 days before Christ returns in glory. That is the same time period from the abomination of desolation to Christ’s return in glory. Revelation 13:5 | Daniel 7:25 Continuing to the next verse... Revelation 11:3-13 Now we have a subject change to the two witnesses. We don’t know how the timeframe fits into the 70th week easily on the surface level. So most people assume it is the same period as the verse before it. However, their end comes only when the beast from the bottomless pit kills them. When does the beast come from the bottomless pit? Revelation 9:1-11 So we know that the beast which kills these two doesn’t even get let out of the bottomless pit until the fifth trumpet. Therefore, the two witnesses can’t show up at the beginning of the week. That leaves the possibility that they could show up about when the temple is rebuilt (about 1/4 of the way through the 70th week perhaps) until no later than 1340 days before Christ returns in glory. The 5th trumpet must be no later than 5 months before Christ returns in glory so the two witnesses, which leaves a couple options. Here is a little chart to help visualize it.
1335 DaysDaniel 12:11-13 I believe that the above passage in connection with the blessing in Revelation 19:9 speaks to the invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb in the millennium. The timing of 1,335 days following the abomination of desolation would place this end-point outside of the scope of the 70th week of Daniel and therefore in the millennial reign of Christ. 2300 Days
I believe this was fulfilled following the abomination of desolation performed by Antiochus IV Epiphanes that is celebrated today as Chanukkah. Read the Daniel 8 study for more. |
