Bush to call for regional summit on Mideast peace process Haaretz (July 16, 2007) - U.S. President George W. will call for a regional conference on restarting the Middle East peace process during a special address Monday, a U.S. official said ahead of the speach. The U.S. president will also announce $190 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority, the official said. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would lead the peace conference, which would include representatives of Israel and neighbors in the region, said a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The speech to be given by the U.S. president will express a plan for "activism" on the part of the Bush administration, according to a senior Israeli political source who was briefed in advance about it. Bush's tone is meant to express his approval of the formation of a new Palestinian Authority government under Salam Fayad, as well as the appointment of former British prime minister Tony Blair as the special envoy for the Quartet of Middle East peace negotiators. White House officials said Bush was planning to rally diplomatic and financial support for Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' government. Does this dividing of the land of Israel fulfill Bible prophecy? Ezekiel 38,39 talks of a relative peace prior to an attack by Russia, Turkey, Iran and Libya among others. If the land is divided and a Palestinian state created, a temporary peace would go into effect. Israelis would be moved from their residence now to that land marked for Israel from this dividing and visa-versa. This sounds a lot like

Zechariah 14:1-3
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

I believe the Lord going forth to fight these nations could be referring to the day of the Lord, which comes as sudden destruction from the Almighty. Isaiah 13:6-13 The ultimate end of this battle will be at Armageddon when Christ returns in glory and destroys the armies gathered there from the sixth bowl to do battle. America's participation in this dividing of the land of Israel will come back to haunt us I believe.

President Peres: Time to sever Israel's biblical heartland Israel Today (July 16, 2007) - Just hours before being sworn in as Israel's ninth president on Sunday, Shimon Peres said the time had come for his nation to surrender its biblical heartland in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) to the Palestinian Arabs. “We have to get rid of the territories,” Peres said in an interview with The Associated Press. The elder statesman insisted, contrary to recent opinion polls, that an overwhelming majority of Israelis agree with him on this issue. In his inauguration speech later in the evening, Peres expounding upon his vision of peace for the Middle East, but Israel National News pointed out that he did not once mention ongoing Arab terrorism against the Jewish state that has made the conclusion of any peace deal impossible. Despite filling a largely ceremonial role, an Israeli diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post that Peres can be expected to continue behaving like a “one-man foreign ministry” as he works to forward his own agenda.

I actually came across this story on the 19th, I'm a little behind. Peres is dividing the land of Israel for peace, that is his goal. How fitting then seeing it in Daniel 5:28, "PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians." The verb Peres in Hebrew means "to break in two, divide.” Could we soon see the dividing of Israel for peace? If that were to happen, Israelis would have to move to Israeli areas or risk falling prey to their new Islamic neighbors. We know what has happened in Gaza with the pullout. How long would a Jew last remaining there? Their houses will be rifled and I'm sure women will get ravished if they were to remain. But half is described as remaining. This means that it can't be the time of Jacob's trouble because Christ makes it clear that running to the mountains is the only safe place to be. From there, they are taken to the wilderness and protected from the antichrist and his master Lucifer the dragon. Revelation 12

Japan Hit By Second Quake in a Day, Reactor Damaged (Update1) Bloomberg.com (July 16, 2007) - Two earthquakes struck Japan today, damaging a nuclear reactor, toppling houses and causing a fire. Seven people were killed and more than 800 were injured by the first quake, NHK television reported on its Web site. A second magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck in the Sea of Japan 457 kilometers (284 miles) northwest of Tokyo at 11:17 p.m. local time, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on its Web site. The earlier quake, around 250 kilometers northwest of Tokyo, had triggered tsunami warnings and caused buildings to sway for several minutes around 10:15 a.m. No tsunamis are expected from the second earthquake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a statement. Tokyo Electric Power Co. said that a nuclear reactor at its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa power plant in Niigata was damaged by the first quake. Two cracks opened in its reactor No. 6, causing radioactive water to leak into the ocean, the company said on its Web site. The leaked water had no effect on the environment, according to the power company. NHK showed images of houses with collapsed roofs, cracked highways and a train carriage derailed at a station in the coastal city of Kashiwazaki. Other nuclear reactors at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant were automatically shut down when the tremors began, Tokyo Electric said. Japan yesterday began cleaning up after being battered for three days by Typhoon Man-Yi, which caused three deaths, injured scores of people and disrupted air and rail transport. Many offices are shut today for Marine Day, a national holiday. As of noon local time, 21,541 households in Niigata prefecture were without power, the Trade Ministry said in an e- mailed statement. Supply of natural gas, a typical cooking fuel in Japan, was cut to 34,000 houses, the statement said. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe cut short an election campaign stop in the southern city of Nagasaki to fly to Kashiwazaki, the area hardest hit by the quake, Kyodo News reported. The government earlier set up an emergency task force and sent Kensei Mizote, minister in charge of disaster management, to inspect quake-hit areas, it said. East Japan Railway Co., the country's largest train operator, halted part of its Shinkansen bullet train services, said Takahiro Kikuchi, a company spokesman. Services on the Joetsu line between the Echigo Yuzawa resort area and Niigata on the Japan Sea coast remained suspended as of 3 p.m., while trains resumed service between Tokyo and Echigo Yuzawa. Service was also restored on the Tohoku and Nagano bullet train lines, which connect Tokyo with northern Japan and the central prefecture of Nagano. Local trains operated by JR East, as the company is known, derailed at Kashiwazaki station and in the Yoneyama Tunnel in Niigata, Kikuchi said. No one was injured, he said. The Niigata area was hit by a quake in October 2004 that killed at least 33 people and injured 2,900. It forced East Japan Railway to shut a section of the Joetsu bullet train line for two months and damaged a semiconductor plant in the area operated by Sanyo Electric Co. Sanyo, which halted the plant today, will resume production tomorrow, Sanyo spokesman Akihiko Oiwa said via phone. ``There is no damage to the building and no workers were injured,'' he said. Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., the world's largest consumer-electronics maker, had no serious damage at its plants, spokesman Akira Kadota said. Its Niigata factory makes facsimile and copying machines, according to the company's Web site. Japan, one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries, is located in a zone where the Eurasian, Pacific, Philippine and North American tectonic plates meet and occasionally shift, causing earthquakes. Iran locked on to 600 targets in Israel Israel Today (July 15, 2007) - Iran has marked 600 targets for its long-range missiles inside Israel, the Qatari newspaper Al Watan reported on Sunday. According to the report, Iran is threatening to hit the Jewish state with a massive missile strike if either Israel or the US attack the Islamic Republic or its allies in Syria. Recent political talk in Jerusalem and Washington indicate the time is rapidly approaching that Israel and the US will have no choice but to intervene militarily to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Likewise, Israeli military experts are predicting a full-scale war with Syria sometime in the coming six months, possibly set off by a renewal of low-level cross-border Hizballah aggression.

Russia gives priority to business with Iran in transit sector Islamic Republic News Agency (July 15, 2007) - Moscow gives great priority to deal with Iran in the field of goods transit, one of the senior officials of the Russian delegation participating in the Second Iran Transit Forum said Sunday. The two-day international gathering started in Tehran Sunday morning with a speech by Iran's Minister of Roads and Transportation Mohammad Rahmati. Iran is considered a "powerful country in the region as it is on the cross-road of the North-South Corridor," senior official of the Russian Eurosibl Logistic Company Pavel Smirnov told IRNA on the sidelines of the forum. He added, "We should work together and look for ways to cooperate." Smirnov stressed that Iran enjoyed "great potentials" to develop its transit sector in all fields including marine, rail and road transportation and that his respective company can provide the country with latest services and assistance to this end.

Peres sworn in as Israel's president Breitbart.com (July 15, 2007) - Israel's elder statesman and Nobel peace laureate Shimon Peres was sworn in president on Sunday, crowning an unrivaled career stretching back half a century. Peres assumes the largely ceremonial post less than three weeks shy of his 84th birthday, replacing the disgraced Moshe Katsav, and will serve a seven-year term as Israel's ninth president.

Israel preparing for war with Syria, confirms general Associated Press (July 14, 2007) - A senior Israeli general on Monday confirmed that the army is preparing for a full-scale war with Syria in the very near future. Speaking at Israel's Institute for National Security Studies, Maj.-Gen. Eyal Ben-Reuven, who served as deputy commander of Israel's northern forces during last summer's war in Lebanon, said that the army is “preparing itself for an all-out war, and this is a major change in the military's working premise” following the 34-day conflict with Hizballah that many Israelis feel their nation failed to win. The general said that when war breaks out, Syria will be prepared to suffer mass military and civilian casualties, while at the same time playing on Israel's sensitivity to civilian losses by striking Israel's home front with as many missiles as possible. Syria “will try to hit Israel's home front in order to win diplomatic gains in peace talks that will follow, and also cause another split in Israeli society,” Israel National News quoted Ben-Reuven as saying. In order to deny Syria this victory, Ben-Reuven said the Israeli army is training for a swift and overwhelming invasion of Syria “to knock out the areas from where missiles are launched against Israel as quickly as possible.” He lamented that if Israel had responded to Hizballah's rocket attacks in such a manner, the Second Lebanon War would have ended much differently.

Would-be robber stays for wine, hugs Associated Press (July 14, 2007) - Police on Capitol Hill are baffled by an attempted robbery that began with a handgun put to the head of a 14-year-old girl and ended in a group hug. It started around midnight on June 16 when a group of friends was finishing dinner on the patio of a District of Columbia home, authorities and witnesses said. That's when a hooded man slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the girl's head. "Give me your money, or I'll start shooting," he said, the witnesses told The Washington Post. Everyone froze, they said, but then one guest spoke up. "We were just finishing dinner," Cristina Rowan, 43, told the man. "Why don't you have a glass of wine with us?" The intruder had a sip of their Chateau Malescot St-Exupery and said, "Damn, that's good wine." The girl's father, Michael Rabdau, 51, told him to take the whole glass, and Rowan offered him the bottle. The would-be robber, with his hood down, took another sip and a bite of Camembert cheese and put the gun in his sweatpants. Then the story got even more bizarre. The man with the gun apologized, the witnesses told the Post. "I think I may have come to the wrong house," he said. "Can I get a hug?" Rowan stood up and wrapped her arms around the man and the four other guests followed. The man walked away a few moments later with the crystal wine glass in hand. No one was hurt, but once he was gone, the group went inside, locked the door and called 911. Police said Friday that the case was strange but true. Investigators have not located a suspect. "We've had robbers that apologize and stuff, but nothing where they sit down and drink wine," Cmdr. Diane Groomes said. "The only good thing is they would be able to identify him because they hugged them."

Powerful typhoon causes mass blackout, injuries in Japan Breitbart.com (July 13, 2007) - A powerful typhoon hit Japan's southern Okinawa island Friday, cutting power to nearly 100,000 homes and grounding hundreds of flights. Man-Yi, the fourth typhoon of the season, lashed the subtropical island, whipping up waves of 12 metres (40 feet) off the Okinawa coasts and turning over trucks in roads. Seven people have been injured in Okinawa from the typhoon since the storm approached Thursday, although none of them were in serious condition, according to police and the crisis management office. Men trying to clear the damage clung to trees to withstand the violent wind and rain, which was so forceful it uprooted trees and knocked over large fences, television footage showed. The storm cut off electricity supply to 99,400 households in the Okinawa archipelago. "The winds are so strong. Our staff are on standby at branch offices, waiting for the winds to calm down," a spokeswoman at Okinawa Electric Power said. The injured people included a 48-year-old man who fell six metres when he was fixing a television antenna on his roof, officials said. Heavy rain was also reported in parts of the Japanese mainland, with 79 millimetres (3.16 inches) drenching the city of Hyuga on the southern island of Kyushu in one hour alone, raising fears of landslides. Man-yi, described as "extremely strong" by the meteorological agency, is packing wind gusts of up to 252 kilometres an hour (156 miles an hour). The storm remained over the island 50 kilometres (30 miles) north of the Okinawan capital of Naha at midday and was moving north at 20 kilometres (12 miles) an hour. This move will could push senators to vote on the issue as early as this week. You need to contact your senators right away and tell them to oppose the "hate crimes" amendment. CONTACT Your Senators at www.senate.gov/ Hate crimes laws are actually "thought crimes" laws that violate the right to freedom of speech and of conscience and subject individuals to scrutiny of their beliefs rather than focusing on a person's criminal actions. Hate crimes laws will have a chilling effect on people who have moral or religious objections to homosexual behavior. Evidence of a person's beliefs will be used against any individuals who are even suspected of committing a crime. In a debate on a similar bill that passed the House in May, Rep. Recruiting in the West: The Lure of Radical Islamic Terror Family Security Matters (July 12, 2007) - Many question why individuals located in or raised in the freedoms of the West would ever want to engage in terrorism. What would make someone who had seen all of the good things freedom has to offer, turn against that freedom? When consulting with and training law enforcement I point out that often, members of terror groups are professional and very well educated. Terror organizations purposely encourage recruits to become learned, particularly in hard sciences, so that they can understand Western technology and use it against the enemy. Every facet of the enemy should be contemplated, absorbed, and repackaged for use by the terror group. Thus, it was not surprising that the latest terror plot in Europe involved doctors. Anyone can be recruited into a terror organization as long as the individual has the right mindset. Whether one is African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, professional or blue collar, male or female, young or old, the terror draw is always dependent upon the individual’s personality. Simply, the basic concepts for terror motivation include identity and injury. Those who are radical in any religion identify themselves first and foremost as members of the religious group. The religion dictates everything, from law to private life. Of note, this is true of all religions. One’s faith and religious obligation are put above everything and everyone, and there is no room for question. This creates a dissonance for some Muslims who are raised in and those who move to the West. There is a discrepancy between what they read in the Koran, what they observe in Jihad (there are over 150 versus about Jihad in the Koran), and how they view those Muslims who lead peaceful, tolerant lives. They often feel inferior because they do not necessarily fit in, and they can perceive discrimination whether it occurs or not. In essence, in the West there are many young Muslims who believe that they do not have community. Suspicious glances by non-Muslims and contempt from Muslims in the Middle East make them feel like second-class individuals. That is, they know that because of the actions of many violent Muslims, they themselves are looked at with question. At the same time, those they encounter from the Middle East view them as innovators who do not practice true Islam. Because they live in the West and may partake in Western behaviors (including speech and style of dress) they are mocked by more fundamentalist Muslims as being taghut (impure). So they are not quite fully Western and not ‘fully’ Muslim. This can make them uncomfortable and question identity. Usually it is at this time that the individual on the radical path suffers a life set back. Whether it is due to the West or not, the young Muslim loses someone or something dear. This may be very personal such as the death of a loved one, or it may be viewing Muslims injured around the world. It may be a personal illness, which precludes him from following a dream. Whatever it is, there is something that forces the Muslim to reevaluate his life. Many times, he feels as if he has lost that which matters most to him. With loss and the identity question, dissonance grows. In an effort to escape the pain of loss, young Muslims on the path to radicalism search for more substance in their lives. A psychological struggle ensues. On one hand, they are part of the West, and they can see some good aspects to it, such as specific kind individuals. On the other hand, they are Muslim, and they see the struggles of Muslims worldwide. They see oppressive regimes propped up by the West. And because they perceive themselves as outcasts, they gravitate toward their religion because it cuts across cultures, socioeconomic status, race etc. In this, they find community. Then they focus their attention to the plight of Muslims worldwide in a search for self-fulfillment and acceptance. They hear the ever-present call to defend and spread Islam and become psychologically isolated from the West. When they internalize perceived/actual discrimination and zero in on global Islamic causes, they come to an understanding that Muslims suffer because of Western influence and policies. Slowly, the West is viewed as a villain, and anxiety and questions plague the young Muslims. more...

Olmert: Israel, Syria don't want war The Jerusalem Post (July 12, 2007) - Israel does not want war with Syria, and does not believe Syria wants war either, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Thursday. At the same time, he said that the fact that neither side was interested in war did not automatically open the door to immediate negotiations. Speaking to EU ambassadors, Olmert said he was not concerned about an imminent war with Syria, but that he was unhappy with the very public discussion about the matter, which itself created a dangerous and unnecessary "momentum." Olmert said that Syrian President Bashar Assad wanted to use negotiations with Israel as a way to conduct a dialogue with the US, which is why Assad was insisting the US mediate any talks with Israel. Olmert said that when Assad speaks about making peace with Israel, he means making peace with US President George W. Bush, and that Israel was just a tool to make this happen. Olmert, according to participants at the meeting, said Israel would be "very interested" if Assad said he was willing to hold "direct, unconditional bilateral talks." 'Christian patriots' interrupt Hindu prayer in Senate WorldNetDaily (July 12, 2007) - Three protesters interrupted a Hindu cleric today who became the first from his religion to offer the Senate's opening prayer. Breitbart.tv has video of Rajan Zed, director of interfaith relations at a Hindu temple in Reno, Nev., preparing to pray when a clear, loud voice came from the Senate gallery. "Lord Jesus, forgive us, Father, for allowing the prayer of the wicked, which is an abomination in your sight," said a male protester. The Senate's sergeant at arms was instructed to restore order, but Zed was interrupted again. "You shall have no other gods before you. … " Zed, who was invited by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, finally offered his prepared prayer. "We meditate on the transcendental glory of the deity supreme, who is inside the heart of the Earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of the heaven," he said. "May he stimulate and illuminate our minds." Police officers arrested the three protesters and charged them with disrupting Congress, a misdemeanor, the Associated Press reported. The male protester told an AP reporter, "we are Christians and patriots" before officers handcuffed them and led them away. Reid, in remarks from the chamber shortly after the prayer, defended his choice, tying it to the intense debate over the Iraq war. "If people have any misunderstanding about Indians and Hindus, all they have to do is think of Gandhi," a man "who gave his life for peace," Reid said. "I think it speaks well of our country that someone representing the faith of about a billion people comes here and can speak in communication with our heavenly Father regarding peace," said Reid. The AP said Capitol police identified the protesters as Ante Nedlko Pavkovic, Katherine Lynn Pavkovic and Christan Renee Sugar. To those who are against Christianity, this will probably be used as an example of Christian intolerance for other beliefs and further reason to shun and hate believers. But I'm proud of those who spoke up for God, I wouldn't have. It shows the ignorance of the spiritual realm I believe. Calling on spirits other than the Holy Spirit to "illuminate our minds" is asking for trouble, even if not readily apparent. I believe there is only One True God and there should be no others above or in place of Him. Any other spirit that would answer our petitions to a deity for illumination is a spirit you don't want in your life. However, this perspective will be used to hate Christians, especially now with the radical Islamic elements bringing death in the name of religion. For the ignorant in the world that buy the party lines without personal investigation and don't read or understand the Bible, Christians and anyone holding monotheistic beliefs are being lumped in with these radical groups and seen just as dangerous. Of course there is no foundation in fact for this, but facts don't matter to those with hate in their hearts. Hatred is polar opposite to God and since in reality there is only One God, hatred is a sign of the enemy. We as Christians must remember always that Yeshua said to love our enemies and those that would hurt or kill us. They have been deceived by the master of deception and we must not be like them in turn, instead we turn the other cheek. This makes us look weak and pathetic to the world, but we are not of this world and our treasures lie in heaven. Where our treasures are, there our hearts are also. Miracles in Miami ASSIST News (July 12, 2007) - Hundreds of Christian doctors from around the world are gathering in Miami, Florida, from July 13-14 to examine the topic of supernatural healing from “the Great Physician.” They are part of the World Christian Doctors Network who are meeting for their 4th International Medical Conference with the theme of “Spirituality and Medicine” and to hear a series of talks from doctors on such topics as “Judeo-Christian Ethics in Medicine,” “Christian Physician and the Practice of Medicine,” and “Adult Stem Cell – Its Clinical Applications.” There will also be a series of case studies of “incurable” illnesses given by various doctors on what they believe to be miracle healings resulting from the prayer of faith. China faces record flooding Macedonian Radio & Television (July 12, 2007) - At least 131 people have been killed and another 31 are missing after floods and landslides caused by two weeks of torrential rain in China. The floods had forced the evacuation of 1.2 million people and affected some 36 million in seven provinces since June 28, the Ministry of Civil Affairs reported on its website. More than 99,000 houses were destroyed and 407,000 were damaged in the seven provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing and Shaanxi, the ministry said. Just because you don't understand doesn't mean it's not real EtherZone (July 11, 2007) - An old adage posits that what you don’t know can’t hurt you. Whoever came up with that one obviously had little imagination to foresee the horrors about to be set loose upon the earth in the years and decades to come. In my column “Scientists Suggest Bestiality”, I wrote about findings by MIT and Harvard researchers suggesting that millions of years ago ancient humans and chimpanzees engaged in interspecies liaisons resulting in fecund offspring, bolstering the claims by a growing number of geneticists and the like that the boundaries between the species might not be as set in stone (or at least DNA) as at one time thought. It is deplorable enough some would interpret the data in this fashion (as frankly there aren’t that many interspecies pornos dating back that far to serve as irrefutable evidence) to further undermine the uniqueness of man in their attempt to bolster the Darwinian hypothesis that one form of life is essentially no better than any other. However, things grow even more disturbing when one realizes that there are adherents of this particular worldview that believe that it is not enough that all species are the same morally but that they must all be merged into the same species ontologically. Also in the column, I pointed out the attempts whispered about in hushed tones through the pages of speculative history about attempts overseen by the devotees of perdition seeking to intermingle man and ape hoping to conjure an abomination synthesizing attributes of each such as Stalin’s plot to breed a hybrid ape-man solider, various Chinese experiments, and rumors about what went on behind the closed doors of the Yerkes National Primate Research Center. For daring to comment on the moral implications of the issue and speculating where it might be headed in the future, those of limited imagination accused me of being “mentally sick” and possibly being a member of the John Birch Society (though I am not as I seldom join membership groups for reasons similar to Batman’s one-time leeriness of the Justice League, philosophically, the JBS is not all that bad of a group to belong to). Call me a kook all you want as sanity is often overrated. However, one cannot attribute my speculations to “having watched Tank Girl one too many times” as I was accused of by one sophisticate so sure of what he thinks reality will be like a few decades hence if the good Lord has not intervened to put a stop to it by then. If my prognostications are too much for you to handle as some have said at times I am “just too real”, perhaps more down to earth sources such as Albert Mohler (head of Southern Baptist Seminary) and the Boston Globe are more your style. With considerably more to lose in terms of finances and prestige as a result of their writings if they are labeled a lunatic than I do, one will find their conclusions backed by current scientific speculation and academic theorizing. 200 explosive belts seized in Iraq Associated Press (July 11, 2007) - Iraqi security forces seized 200 explosive belts along the Syrian border Wednesday, a police spokesman said, reinforcing Baghdad's claims that its western neighbor isn't doing enough to stop the flow of fighters and weapons to al-Qaida in Iraq. The belts were found during a search of a truck that had crossed into Iraq from Syria at the Waleed border station, Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Abdul-Karim Khalaf said. "When the truck was searched, 200 explosives belts were found in it," the general said. He said the driver was detained but he would not give his name or nationality. Iraqi and U.S. authorities have long complained that Syria is not doing enough to stem the flow of weapons, ammunition and foreign fighters into Iraq. Syria insists it is trying to stop the flow but that it is impossible to seal off the long desert border. But U.S. military spokesman Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner told reporters that 60 to 80 foreign fighters enter Iraq "in any given month" — 70 percent of them through Syria. He said up to 90 percent of the suicide attacks in Iraq were carried out by "foreign-born al-Qaida terrorists." Bergner did not offer detailed evidence to support the claim. However, he cited the July 1 suicide attack that collapsed part of a major bridge across the Euphrates River north of Ramadi. A second bomber was supposed to have attacked the bridge but backed out and was captured, Bergner said. The surviving attacker told interrogators he had been recruited by al-Qaida in his home country, flown to Syria and smuggled across the border to Ramadi, where he stayed for about 10 days before the attack. more...

I think this is why the understanding of the end-times is passing over the heads of many people. Western society and technology mixed with large populations and fast transportation have gotten us so busy and so distracted by entertainment that we tend to forget about the long-term. Having the education system and the media complex controlled by those who are actively working to bring about a New World Order doesn't help either. I don't think its fixable because I'm seeing the end-time scenario being played out and we're at the beginning of the end. The Bible will come to pass 100% accurately and much of the world is blindly fulfilling every word of it. I know I was blinded by the world for most of my life. Thank God He did not leave me in darkness once I started searching and obeying His Word. In these difficult times coming, we need to fill our minds with His Word and make it a part of our daily lives.

Jerusalem hosts month of Temple activities Israel Today (July 10, 2007) - A full range of activities focusing on the history and future of Israel's Temple to the Almighty will be held in Jerusalem this month. Israel National News reported that the activities will include seminars with leading experts and rabbis, exhibits of rebuilt Temple artifacts, and walking tours on and around the Temple Mount. Many of the tours will also look at the events of the past 60 years that have moved Israel closer to the day of the construction of the Third Temple. The activities have been scheduled to coincide with the period of mourning leading up to Tisha B'Av (July 24), which is the Hebrew calendar date on which both the First and Second Temples were destroyed.

Euro Hits New High Against U.S. Dollar Associated Press (July 10, 2007) - The euro shot to an all-time high against the U.S. dollar Tuesday on concerns about the American economy that were fueled by discouraging growth forecasts from key U.S. retailers and homebuilders. The British pound, which has been trading around 26-year highs against the dollar, briefly touched $2.0273 after reports showed British consumer prices were rising at a faster pace than the target set by the Bank of England. The euro hit a new record of $1.3738 Tuesday, its highest level against the dollar since the 13-nation currency started trading in 1999, before retreating to $1.3729. That was still above the euro's previous high of $1.3682 reached on April 27 and the $1.3623 it bought late Monday in New York. A higher euro makes goods from the 13-nation currency zone more expensive for customers abroad. Along with the rise in the pound, the stronger euro also makes visits to much of Europe more expensive for travelers from elsewhere and makes shopping trips to the U.S. more appealing to Europeans. "The dollar is a basket case," said Peter Schiff, president of Euro Pacific Capital Inc. China Supports Syria's right to restore the occupied Golan Syrian Arab News Agency (July 10, 2007) - Premier of the Chinese State Council Wen Jiabao on Tuesday underlined his country's support to Syria's right to restore the occupied Syrian Golan. Jiabao, meeting Syrian Deputy Premier for Economic affairs Abdullah Dardari, expressed China's commitment to boost ties with Syria and develop them in all domains. "The trade exchange volume between Syria and China reached to more than $ 1.400 billion," the Chinese official said, showing his government's commitment to deal with the issue of commerce surplus and double efforts to see more Syrian goods in the Chinese markets. "China will study the establishment of financial fund to back the investment projects in Syria," he added, referring to the stability Syria enjoys and the economic growth in the country. Dardari, for his part, called China to establish different projects in Syria, thanking it for backing the Arab issues and for Syria's right to restore its occupied lands.

Syria rejects offer to hold peace talks The Jerusalem Post (July 10, 2007) - Damascus has rejected Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's offer to hold peace talks with President Bashar Assad, Army Radio reported on Tuesday morning. Syrian parliament member Muhammad Habash said late Monday night that Damascus did not believe Olmert's overtures were serious. In an historic interview with Saudi satellite station Al Arabiya, aired by Channel 10 Monday evening, Olmert invited Assad to Jerusalem to talk. In his first appearance on a major Arabic news station in over six years, Olmert, speaking in an office adorned with the blue and white Israeli flag, told his Hebrew-speaking interviewer: "Bashar Assad, you know … I am ready to hold direct negotiations with you, and you also know that it's you who insists on speaking to the Americans. The American president says: 'I don't want to stand between Bashar Assad and Ehud Olmert. If you want to talk, sit down and talk." Assad has "heard many things from me already," Olmert added. When asked where he would hold such talks with Assad, Olmert said "any place he [Assad] would agree to meet," hinting that Assad would even be welcome in Jerusalem. Public Security Minister Avi Dichter told Army Radio that Olmert indeed wants a resumption of negotiations with Syria and his offer was "genuine and real." But Dichter was not optimistic that Assad would agree to renew the talks. "Bashar Assad apparently has other plans than making peace with Israel," Dichter said. "And now we will listen and wait."

Pope: Other Christians not true churches Associated Press (July 10, 2007) - Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches. Benedict approved a document from his old offices at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith that restates church teaching on relations with other Christians. It was the second time in a week the pope has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, the 1962-65 meetings that modernized the church. On Saturday, Benedict revisited another key aspect of Vatican II by reviving the old Latin Mass. Traditional Catholics cheered the move, but more liberal ones called it a step back from Vatican II. Benedict, who attended Vatican II as a young theologian, has long complained about what he considers the erroneous interpretation of the council by liberals, saying it was not a break from the past but rather a renewal of church tradition. In the latest document — formulated as five questions and answers — the Vatican seeks to set the record straight on Vatican II's ecumenical intent, saying some contemporary theological interpretation had been "erroneous or ambiguous" and had prompted confusion and doubt. It restates key sections of a 2000 document the pope wrote when he was prefect of the congregation, "Dominus Iesus," which set off a firestorm of criticism among Protestant and other Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation." Thousands flee Indonesian volcano as top alert declared Breitbart.com (July 10, 2007) - Some 8,500 people have fled the slopes of an Indonesian volcano after it spewed ash, smoke and debris, as the volcanology office raised its warning to the highest level. The office said volcanic activity at Mount Gamkonora, about 2,700 kilometres (1,600 miles) northeast of Jakarta, prompted it to raise its warning level to "alert" which means an eruption is imminent. Spot fires were visible and the crater spewed burning material up to 15 metres (yards) from the crater, the office said. People nearby heard two thunderous booms and the column of smoke rising from the crater reached up to 2,500 metres, the office said on its website. It said that as of early Monday, 8,439 people had moved off the slopes of the 1,635-metre (5,461-foot) volcano, which last erupted in 1987. It was unclear how many remained on the slopes and were at risk. Local official Penta Libela said authorities were helping with the evacuation of villagers and had prepared four safe shelters. "It is not an official evacuation program. The population panicked because of the eruption and fled on their own and as the local government, we are merely helping by providing more vehicles and assigning temporary shelters," Libela said early Monday. Indonesia sits on the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire," where continental plates meet, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity. The archipelago nation has the world's highest number of active volcanoes. Gamkonora has erupted 12 times since records have been kept. The volcano typically spews heat clouds, or pyroclastic flows, along with lava streams toward villages in the west and northwest of Halmahera island, rather than exploding, the volcanology website said.

EU eyes its next big challenges BBC News (July 10, 2007) - As the dust settles from the EU's June summit rows, the mood in Brussels is subdued but largely positive, as many start to eye up the next big challenges. Europe's leaders agreed at the summit the key elements of a new reform treaty, to replace the unloved constitution, but a detailed final deal has yet to be agreed, and could still cause problems. Meanwhile, policy-makers are also turning to other challenges, including energy and climate change negotiations, the union's troubled enlargement process with Turkey and the Balkans, and the perennial issue of the EU's budget and its expensive Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). What sort of European players the two new leaders of France and the UK, Nicolas Sarkozy and Gordon Brown, will turn out to be is also the subject of much conversation in the coffee bars of the European institutions. One senior EU diplomat says he is not expecting any major new rows over the reform treaty: "Everyone, frankly, is delighted to get this out the way - whether it's wonderful or not... most people are satisfied with what they got." The Portuguese, now at the union's helm for the next six months, will produce the first detailed draft of the new reform treaty for the launch of the so-called intergovernmental conference on 23 July. They hope that a deal can be done by October, and signed formally in December. A British Liberal Democrat MEP, Andrew Duff, thinks the treaty deal "has unblocked political energy", though he suggests a deal by October is "pushing it". But some are worried that the Poles, who almost blocked agreement at the summit, will try to unpick the deal that was done. The EU diplomat agrees that "that is the unknown, we can't say it will all be fine," and adds that the problem with the Polish negotiating style is as much about expertise as politics. Krzysztof Bobinski, of the Unia & Polska Foundation in Warsaw, argues the Union is playing with fire in attempting to get a reform treaty that is very similar to the constitutional treaty through parliaments without the promised referendums. "The EU governments will probably get away with it but the problem of democratic legitimacy... will not go away. "Indeed, if it isn't addressed, it will come back to haunt the EU and provoke more crises," he says. Another debate linked to the reform treaty deal is whether the UK's multiple opt-outs - from fundamental rights to justice and home affairs issues - signal the UK's return to the margins of Europe. Mr. Duff thinks it does. "If it has not yet sunk in, in the UK, that it has effectively designed for itself a second-class membership of the EU, it is fast sinking in in Brussels," he says. We cannot remain silent about the nations that offer financial assistance to and harbor terrorist cells. The world cannot afford to cower as these shadowy groups remain hidden. The world's nations are more than capable of ending terrorism and stopping those that use it to blackmail the international community. This past month, many countries suffered terrifying attacks by extremists. While Iraq continues to be plagued by terrorists, religious fundamentalist occupied the Red Mosque in Islamabad WATCH. Terrorist attacks have been staged in London, Glasgow and an ancient temple in Yemen, which was built in the days of the Prophet Suleiman. Recently Morocco has turned into a military camp which is on a high security alert. If we had a global military force dedicated to fighting terrorism in the name of the entire world, this phenomenon would not have reached such dangerous proportions. It is obvious that individual nations - including Britain, Spain and the world's sole superpower the United States - have failed to overcome today's terrorist threat. That is why it is time for the U.N. Security Council to convene an emergency session to arrive at some major decisions, such as the formation of an international army to fight terror around the world. Such a force must be equipped with the most modern weapons and be supported by the latest fighter aircraft and naval vessels, and a high level of logistics capability to achieve its goals. Globalization and open markets have linked the interests of all nations. As a result of this, ensuring security too has become the responsibility of all nations. This is reason enough to create an international army under the command of the U.N. Security Council. The United Nations should immediately hold an emergency conference to create this international anti-terror army. Any country that refuses to support this effort or which harbors terrorists should be targeted for military action until its leaders are thrown out. We must never again allow the world to fall prey to terrorism. The United Nations must step up and provide security and stability to counties that are now being stalked by terror. Humphries, who was in London with WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein, recorded angry Muslim leader Abu Saif, who kept his voice at a fever pitch through declarations such as: "Brothers and sisters, make no mistake. Make no mistake. The British government, the queen, the MPs in this country, they are enemies to you, enemies to Allah and enemies to the Muslims." A protester told Humphries Abu Saif is a member of the group Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Party of Liberation, which states its aim is to unify Muslims and establish the rule of Islamic law over the world. Group spokesman Taji Mustafa insisted to WND, however, Abu Saif is not a member. Hizb ut-Tahrir, which casts itself as "non-violent," also has denied testimony and British media reports charging its Cambridge cell tried recruit the Iraqi doctor now suspected of mounting the attack on Glasgow's airport June 30. At the Brink? Non-Denial Denial? 6/25 and 6/26/07 Steve Quayle (July 10, 2007) - Last week on 7/6/07 Bill Gertz in his column in the Washington Times trotted out an interesting non-denial denial under the heading: Nuclear Messages. In his article segment Gertz cites international radio operators picked up large numbers of coded Air Force communications on 6/26 that indicated some type of military action was about to take place. This is actually very true though the action began monday afternoon 6/25 around the time of the Q-Files show. They began not as some "routine messages" as the Air Force Major Tom Knowles states in the article, but they began in response to an incursion into Southern Iraq by Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces as reported by British newspapers, which on that night Steve read on air and which Debkafile subsequently confirmed and added even more details. The sheer number of messages on just 3 frequencies were in the hundreds per hour and continued into the night Monday and then into the next day. They were not messages just to Air Force comm stations, but were in fact messages and check-ins being handled by up to 4 airborne commands in various regions. And in fact the major comm stations like Andrews, Offut, and others were up sparingly and were mostly out of the picture. This is a protocol indicating threat of action and is just one of many protocols of actual war preparation that were in place during that time frame. The article cites a 174 character message was sent and that amateur radio monitors said they had not seen that size message since the 1991 Persian Gulf War. 'In the past few days, all Syrian nationals were asked through the Syrian government to leave, as Lebanon's current political crisis may become violent,' said a Syrian construction worker who requested anonymity. 'We are asked to leave Lebanon before July 15.' Hundreds of thousands of Syrian workers, mainly farmers and construction workers, used to work in Lebanon. But their numbers have noticeably dwindled since the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri, which many Lebanese blame on Syria. July 15 comes one day before a special UN Security Council meeting which is expected to discuss the possibility of stationing international experts on the Syria-Lebanon border in order to monitor illegal arms trafficking to the Shiite Hezbollah movement, thought to be originating from Iran and Syria. The Security Council is also expected to meet next week to discuss a key report on the assassination of Hariri, a development which may bode ill for Syria. On July 5 the Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Syrian authorities had instructed all Syrian citizens residing in Lebanon to leave Lebanon in July. Observers believe that the Syrian authorities may resort to closing the border with Lebanon. The latest rumours have sparked caused anxiety and fear among the Lebanese. 'I am trying to take my kids out of Lebanon on July 10 to a nearby Arab country to observe the situation until the end of August,' housewife Amal Salameh said. 'If things stays the same I will return, if not I will take them back to the US.' 'There is probably nothing in it, but we're told to expect some major event on that day,' said Rana Naamani, another Lebanese housewife who decided to go to the mountains northeast of Beirut to stay away from the capital. Full page newspaper advertisements appeared on April 25, 1982. The proclaimed "THE CHRIST IS NOW HERE." The ads had been no surprise to me. The Detroit Free Press had authorized its reporter to begin working on the story that appeared on May 5, 1982 after learning in April 1982 that "Tara Center" would be spending upwards of half a million dollars to run such ads globally. Obviously, the spending of half a million dollars -- worth much more in that economy than now -- had a very serious purpose. Somebody was not doing it on a whim or a prank. The delusion to the New Age proponents of the scheme was that they were safe from premature detection. They honestly believed what Alice Bailey and other doctrinal adherents of the New Age Movement in its multitude of forms expressed: that nobody could understand their teachings but "an initiate." Planetary Citizens founder Donald Keys happily wrote in his 1982 EARTH AT OMEGA: PASSAGE TO PLANETIZATION that so far the New Age Movement had eluded detection "by alarmed forces and defenders of the status quo ante." Keys was in for a surprise as was his much wealthier and influential sponsoring mentor, Norman Cousins. They had been detected and alarms were sounded. The alarms were somewhat muted, however, by "Christian experts" who rushed in to say nothing was happening. There was no "New Age Movement," and if there was, which was doubtful, "they certainly were not networked politically." It has occurred to me more than once that the New Age Movement may have created its own "opposition." Ten EU FMs tell Blair road map is dead, call for int'l conference Jerusalem Post (July 9, 2007) - A group of 10 EU foreign ministers has called for an international conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling the road map peace plan dead. In a letter to the Quartet's new Middle East envoy, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the foreign ministers said the status quo that had prevailed since 2000 was leading nowhere. Signing the letter, which was published in the French daily Le Monde on Monday, were the foreign ministers of France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Slovenia and Malta. They called on Israel to make more concessions to boost the standing of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, such as the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners including Fatah leaders, and the immediate release of all the frozen Palestinian customs duties. A senior official in Jerusalem noted that the letter did not constitute a change in policy of either the EU or the Quartet, and both bodies remain officially committed to the road map. The official also noted that individual European foreign ministers would sometimes state opinions on Middle East issues that actually contradicted the policy of the governments in which they serve. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said Israel remained committed to the road map. Thousand of new volcanoes revealed beneath the waves New Scientist (July 9, 2007) - The true extent to which the ocean bed is dotted with volcanoes has been revealed by researchers who have counted 201,055 underwater cones. This is over 10 times more than have been found before. The team estimates that in total there could be about 3 million submarine volcanoes, 39,000 of which rise more than 1000 metres over the sea bed. "The distribution of underwater volcanoes tells us something about what is happening in the centre of the Earth," says John Hillier of the University of Cambridge in the UK. That is because they give information about the flows of hot rock in the mantle beneath. "But the problem is that we cannot see through the water to count them," he says. Satellites can detect volcanoes that are more than 1500 m high because the mass of the submerged mountains causes gravity to pull the water in around them. This creates domes on the ocean's surface that can be several metres high and can be detected from space. But there is a multitude of small volcanoes that have gone undetected. The only way of identifying them is to manually find their outline on sonar measurements taken from ships. Since the late 1960s, research vessels have been criss-crossing the oceans using sonar instruments to measure the depth of the ocean floor. They have generated 40 million kilometres of linear profiles showing the topography of the ocean bed between 60° North – the latitude of southern Alaska – and 60° South – corresponding to the tip of Patagonia. But until now, no one had been able to sift through them all. So, Hillier and a colleague designed a computer programme that was able to analyse the huge amount of data and identify volcano-like shapes in the sonar lines. The programme found 201,055 volcanoes over 100m tall. Previously, satellite data had identified 14,164 volcanoes over 1500 m high. Hillier then extrapolated the data to estimate how many volcanoes exist beyond the areas the research vessels sounded out. He estimates there are about 39,000 volcanoes that are higher than 1000 m, leaving nearly 25,000 yet to be directly discovered. more...

Iraqi FM: Turkey massing 140,000 troops Associated Press (July 9, 2007) - Turkey has massed 140,000 soldiers on its border with northern Iraq, Iraq's foreign minister said Monday, calling the neighboring country's fears of Kurdish rebels based there "legitimate" but better resolved through negotiation. The Turkish military had no comment to the remarks by Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, a Kurd from northern Iraq, and it was unclear where he got the figures. If they are accurate, Turkey would have nearly as many soldiers along its border with Iraq as the 155,000 troops which the U.S. has in the country. Zebari's comments came amid calls by Turkey's military for the government to give it the green light to carry out military operations in northern Iraqi against the rebel Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK. "Turkey is building up forces on the border. There are 140,000 soldiers fully armed on the border. We are against any military interference or violation of Iraqi sovereignty," Zebari said in Baghdad. Turkey has been pressuring the United States and Iraq to eliminate PKK bases in Kurdish-controlled parts of northern Iraq and has said it will carry out a cross-border offensive if necessary. "Turkey's fears are legitimate but such things can be discussed," Zebari said. ""The perfect solution is the withdrawal of the Turkish forces from the borders." He added: "No one wants a new military conflict in the region." He said there had been no "Turkey military violation until now," citing artillery shelling and Turkish surveillance overflights. With the concern of war between Syria and Israel this summer, I have no doubt that Syria and Turkey are in diplomatic communication and given what Bible prophecy says about Turkey joining Russia, Iran, and Libya among others, It seems convenient to have that many troops massing for the Kurdish issue. EU Med states call for Mideast peace conference Reuters (July 9, 2007) - The foreign ministers of France, Italy, Spain and seven other European states called on Monday for an international conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and said Israel should make more concessions for peace. Israeli officials said on Sunday that an Arab League delegation from Egypt and Jordan had proposed visiting Israel this week for long-delayed talks on an Arab peace initiative. In an open letter to new big-power Middle East envoy Tony Blair, the foreign ministers of the EU's Mediterranean states -- Bulgaria, Cyprus, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Romania and Slovenia -- welcomed Arab states' efforts for peace following the stalled U.S.-backed "road map." "The road map has failed. The status quo that has prevailed since 2000 is leading to nothing," the ministers said in their letter, published in French daily Le Monde. The ministers said there was a need to "redefine our objectives," adding that Europe and the Quartet of Middle East mediators should firmly tell Israel to make more concessions in support of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Israel's cabinet agreed on Sunday to release 250 Palestinian prisoners in the latest attempt to strengthen the Western-backed president after Hamas's seizure of the Gaza Strip. Abbas, a member of Fatah, disbanded a Hamas-led government and appointed an emergency government after Hamas's violent takeover of the Gaza Strip on June 14. The ministers said one of their new objectives was "to obtain from Israel concrete and immediate measures in favor of Mahmoud Abbas. "Among these, the transfer of all taxes due, the release of the thousands of prisoners who do not have blood on their hands, the release as well of the main Palestinian leaders to ensure succession within Fatah, a freeze in new settlements and the evacuation of unauthorized settlements," they said. Israel has handed over only part of Palestinian tax revenues it has withheld since Hamas won election in 2006. The ministers said another aim was to take into account Israel's need for security and consider creating an international force to impose a ceasefire among Palestinians, as Abbas has called for. The idea of a robust international force, of the NATO or U.N. Chapter VII kind, deserves to be examined," they said. Chapter VII allows the use of force. The 10 ministers who signed the letter are not as such part of the Quartet -- which is composed of the United States, Russia, the United Nations and the European Union -- but they influence the EU element. "We know how inventive and resolute you are," the ministers told Blair in their letter. "We are therefore certain you will deal with these problems in a global manner. It continues to be apparent that Europe is very much biased against Israel. Regardless of the clear history of where the conflict began, Europe and friends are working for the appeasement of the radical Islamic element and pushing Israel to concede more and more. Even releasing those who were jailed and are going to turn around and try to kill Israelis upon their release. We can also see the push to move away from the U.S. road map towards another solution which is being headed through Europe. This falls right in line with Bible prophecy that puts a seven-year confirmation of a covenant in the 70th week of Daniel. In the middle of that seven years the abomination of desolation will take place and the stage is being set for that now. Europe has a leader who has produced a seven-year European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) that has a mid-term review. The fourth kingdom is becoming the center of the push for peace in the Middle East and they are clearly biased against Israel. War And Peace In The Middle East Unsealed Prophecy (July 8, 2007) - Perspective by Jack Kelley: In a study of contrasts, two major coming events were announced this week that demonstrate the volatility of the Middle East these days. The first was a report I received stating that a meeting between Quartet (US, UN, EU, and Russia), Palestinian Authority, and Israeli leaders will take place in Egypt in mid-July. The meeting was announced by the EU’s Javier Solana, and will feature Tony Blair in his first big assignment as the Quartet’s Middle East envoy. According to a report in the The Daily Star Egypt these countries are very close to finalizing a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians. It would feature a two-state solution similar to the one Yassir Arafat was said to have been offered at the 2000 Camp David meeting by then Israeli PM Ehud Barak and then US Pres. Bill Clinton. (Although it was practically everything he had demanded, Arafat turned it down and went home to begin the 2000 Intifada.) Apparently ‘moderate’ Palestinians are now ready to sign such a peace treaty with Israel. “It is looking positive in the West Bank,” the report says, where Israel has returned tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority and the EU has resumed relations with the PA. Palestinian President Abbas also enjoys the support of the US, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. Abbas is actually stronger than before as he and his Fatah party no longer need approval from Hamas, as was the case under their unity government. If this plan succeeds, Hamas will be relegated to the status of a terrorist organization in control of an isolated Gaza Strip, while the Palestinian State would occupy a substantially enlarged area of the West Bank. Hamas’ recent success in gaining the release of BBC reporter Alan Johnston was an attempt to counter this marginalization and get back into the mainstream. Some are saying that this meeting in Egypt could actually result in peace between Israel and the Palestinians before the end of July. If it really does, and if the treaty’s provisions are adhered to, it could begin the period of peace that leads us to the Battle of Ezekiel 38. Think of the possibilities. The security fence could come down, to be replaced by an international peace keeping force that gives Israel a false sense of security in a land of unwalled villages. The peace keeping force could even include Russians, giving them an excuse to have a contingent of troops in the Middle East. This one bears watching. The opposition believes that the Lebanese army will remain neutral in this coup attempt, and the UN troops, stationed there to prevent another war with Israel, will realize their safety cannot be assured and depart. Syria has also opened a border crossing with Israel that’s been closed for 40 years. It’s in the Golan and its purpose is to allow Syrian terrorists into Israel. These terrorists call themselves resistance fighters whose goal is to liberate the Golan. They’ll be following a strategy similar to that which the Palestinians have used against Israel in the south, with suicide bombings and other attacks against civilian and military targets. They’ve been training in Syria over the past year and are now ready to go on the offense. Observers believe that this is another attempt to lure Israel into a confrontation with Syria and its client Hizballah. It seems like new experts come forward with predictions for a summer war between Israel and Syria almost every day. The latest is Dennis Ross, the former senior American Middle East peace negotiator. If Syria’s coup attempt in Lebanon is allowed to mature, the odds are that the war everyone’s predicting will in fact take place. And as incredible as this sounds, Syria is arming missiles with chemical warheads for use against Israel, believing that if they launch them, Israel will flatten Damascus in retaliation. Accordingly they’re moving the country’s archives out of Damascus to preserve their records against such an eventuality. It’s like they’ve read Isaiah 17 and accepted the outcome as a reasonable price to pay. We’ll know in a week or two whether either or both of these events will take place as announced. If it’s not God’s timing something will happen at the last minute to stop them. But if they are at the top of His agenda, then by the end of July, it’s quite possible that the “birth pangs” we’re experiencing will have taken a big leap in both frequency and intensity, meaning that our “delivery” may be coming sooner than we think. If you still have one foot in the Kingdom and the other in the World, it’s time to take the final step and get serious about preparing for your next life. This one may be about over. Now praying gets 7 Christians arrested WorldNetDaily (July 7, 2007) - Christians have been arrested recently at "gay" festivals for nothing more than having a protest sign that is "wider than their torso," but now police have gone even further, targeting Bible-carrying ministers for praying on public property and for standing on a public sidewalk near a "gay" festival. One of the new cases comes from Elmira, N.Y., where police arrested seven Christians who went into a public park where a "gay" fest was beginning and started to pray, faces down, while holding their Bibles. They were cited for "disturbing the peace," and Assistant Police Chief Mike Robertson told WND that the seven are accused of a "combination" of allegations under that statute, which includes the "intent" to cause a public inconvenience, any "disturbance" of a meeting of persons, obstructing vehicular or pedestrian traffic, or taking part in "any act that serves no legitimate purpose." The second such case arose in Wichita, Kan., where police arrested Spirit One Christian Center Pastor Mark Holick, who had received permission earlier from officers to be on the public sidewalk adjacent to the park where the festival was occurring but then was arrested doing exactly that. Julian Raven, a street preacher, told WND his group of seven assembled to pray for three hours the night before Elmira's recent "pride" festival in promotion of the homosexual lifestyle. "We have a legal right to be at an event held in a public square. We're not a hate group," he said. "We're Christians and we're going to be there to pray." He said he contacted police, who told him he had no free speech rights in the public park. "The female officer, she said, 'You're not going to cross the street. You're not going to enter the park and you're not going to share your religion with anybody in this park,'" he told WND. "When she said that, for the first time in my life as a Christian, I felt now my freedom of speech is threatened or challenged," he said. "I was being told I could not share my religion with anybody in that park." Raven said he told the officer "she was violating the Constitution that she had sworn to uphold, and she was very agitated and adamant, and couldn't look me straight in the eye." Raven asked for the justification for such a threat and was not given a response. He said his team of Christians then went into the park, holding Bibles over their heads to signify their subservience to God's Word, and lay on their faces to pray. The video covers aspects like the evidence of a global flood and the cities found under the ocean surface around the world as well as the Mayan calendar and the 2012 end date of the current age. They do read part of Revelation covering the sixth seal and first trumpets, suggesting that apocalyptic scenario's connection to the Bible. My own Bible studies completely separate from this Mayan calendar placed Christ's return in glory in 2012. This is NOT predicting the day or hour of Christ's coming, it is looking at Biblical fact, Biblical history, modern events, and belief in the promise that we will not be left in the dark concerning the end. If you haven't read the HIStory, Our Future Bible studies, I would recommend checking them out. They didn't all originate with me, but were diligent studies made by others. However, they all came from different perspectives and I haven't seen them connected elsewhere and the examination of the exact-day prophecies of Daniel and John must be taken into account.

Muslims seeking to tighten grip on Temple Mount Jerusalem Newswire (July 4, 2007) - The God of Israel calls it His Holy Hill, it is the Jews’ most sacred site – upon which stood the first and second temples, and the Bible describes it as the throne room of the coming Messiah. Muslims know the centrality of this location to the Jewish and Christian faiths, and have made a priority out of securing and keeping it under Islamic control. The Islamic presence has been compared to that of a beast squatting over the Temple Mount, greedily keeping control from slipping away. Jews and Christians are thus banned from praying and reading their Bibles on the height, over which four minarets tower and upon which a fifth and largest minaret is set to be built by Jordan. For many years the Waqf (or Islamic Trust) has been defying Israeli law, excavating massive areas of the mount at will and constructing more mosques on it. Hamas – the “Palestinian” Islamist terrorist group that took control of the Gaza Strip two weeks ago in a show of murderous violence – was reportedly recently thwarted in its efforts to extend its tentacles of control over the Temple Mount. Recent years have seen Hamas invest millions of shekels in Jerusalem charities and religious institutions, as well as in construction on the Temple Mount, according to The Jerusalem Post. A senior official in Israel’s internal security services said Hamas’ goal “is to gain full control over the Temple Mount. Lesbian Gangs Raping Young Girls, Some Attacked in School Washrooms LifeSite (July 3, 2007) - Last week, the Fox News' O'Reilly Factor exposed the increasing trend of lesbian gang violence terrorizing neighbourhoods and schools, especially in large cities across the United States. According to FOX News crime analyst Rod Wheeler there are some 150 such gangs in the DC area alone, including Washington, Maryland, and Virginia. The gangs, known as Dykes Taking Over (DTO) or Gays Taking Over, are forcing children into homosexuality. Wheeler told host Bill O'Reilly: "there is this national underground network, if you will, Bill, of women that's lesbians and also some men groups that's actually recruiting kids as young as 10 years old in a lot of the schools in the communities all across the country." In addition to carrying weapons and violently attacking people the lesbian gangs rape girl victims they recruit. "As a matter of fact," said Wheeler, "some of the kids have actually reported that they were actually forced into, you know, performing sex acts and doing sex acts with some of these people." Deputy Beverly Cobb from the Shelby County (Memphis) Gang Unit told Eyewitness News that GTO gang members "will sodomize [with sex toys] and will force (victims) to do all sexual acts, they are forcing themselves on our young girls in all our schools." Deputy Cobb noted that the assaults are becoming more frequent and more violent. The GTO's she says, "carry weapons . . . they will use them quicker than any male that I've ever come upon . . . to try and fight them you'll get hurt." Two jailed GTO members who were imprisoned for robbery claim that the group which formed over a decade ago was originally set up as a support group for lesbians. They admit however that the current generation of GTO members are raping girls and the Eyewitness News report notes that some GTO members are attacking other inmates in prison. 'Jerusalem not holy to Muslims' YNet News (July 1, 2007) - Jerusalem is "not holy to Muslims at all," the president of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), Morton Klein, told a Quebec synagogue congregation, the Canadian Jewish News (CJN) reported on Friday. Klein said Jerusalem had never been important to Muslims, and that the Islamic claim on Jerusalem was designed "to take away our heart and our soul," the CJN said. He added that Palestinians "have never been a real people because there was never an actual country called 'Palestine,'" the report added. "He even accused Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of being willing to sell out Israel for the chance at 'peace,' when 'peace' has never been on Palestinian leaders' minds," CJN quoted Klein as saying. Meanwhile, in Ramallah, Australia's Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, has rejected calls by the Syrian ambassador for Australia to take a less pro-Israel stance, the Australian Jewish News (AJN) reported. Ignoring the lessons of 1929 MSN Money (May 21, 2007) - The similarities of the lead-up to the great market crash to today's economic environment are obvious. Don't say you weren't warned. The economic and financial landscape of 2007 bears striking similarities to 1929. Back then, there were large, unregulated pool operators and other insiders constantly muscling the tape in whatever direction they chose. The public, too, was involved, thinking the country was experiencing a new era. Meanwhile, business began deteriorating in the spring of 1929, though the partying in stocks lasted until the fall. To give you a flavor of those times, I'd like to quote from Frederick Lewis Allen's "Only Yesterday," which is one of my favorite books about 1929: "Mergers of industrial corporations and of banks were taking place with greater frequency than ever before, prompted not merely by the desire to reduce overhead expenses and avoid the rigors of cut-throat competition, but often by sheer corporate megalomania. (My emphasis.) And every rumor of a merger or a split-up or an issue of rights was the automatic signal for a leap in the prices of the stocks affected -- until it became altogether too tempting to the managers of many a concern to arrange a split-up or a merger or an issue rights not without a canny eye to their own speculative fortunes." Obviously, I don't need to point out how similar that is to the practices we are seeing today. Today, too, there are pool operators, in the form of leveraged-buyout (LBO) and hedge funds, both of which borrow money to invest. And, just like their predecessors, who ignored macroeconomic and corporate deterioration, they are partying as never before. In reading the following passage from Allen's 1931 book, you have to remind yourself that it's a portrait not of 2007 but 1929: "One could indulge in all manner of dubious financial practices with an unruffled conscience so long as prices rose. The Big Bull Market covered a multitude of sins. It was a golden day for the promoter, and his name was legion." Israelis, Palestinians discuss final peace accord – report YNet News (April 24, 2007) - Israeli and Palestinian officials discussed a number of sticky issues at an undisclosed European location in preparation for final-status peace talks, the al-Quds newspaper reported Tuesday. The final borders of the future Palestinian state, the plight of Palestinian refugees, the status of Jerusalem and the future of Jewish settlements built in the West Bank were on the agenda, the Palestinian daily added. The report quoted a senior Palestinian official as saying that the meeting reflected the willingness of Israeli and Palestinian leaders to fulfill US President George W. Bush will to establish an independent Palestinian state by the end of his presidency next year. The report also said that Israel initially resisted the meeting but acquiesced to pressure from Washington and the European Union. Under the Oslo Accord negotiations over final status talks should have ended in May 1999. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Israel was ready to make "painful concessions" to achieve peace with the Palestinians, but warned that no Palestinian refugees will be allowed into Israel's sovereign territory. The Palestinians insist that all refugees who fled Palestine during the 1948 Israeli-Arab war should be allowed back into their homes according with United Nations Resolution 194.

Bush OKs 'integration' with European Union WorldNetDaily (May 8, 2007) - President Bush signed an agreement creating a "permanent body" that commits the U.S. to "deeper transatlantic economic integration," without ratification by the Senate as a treaty or passage by Congress as a law. The "Transatlantic Economic Integration" between the U.S. and the European Union was signed April 30 at the White House by Bush, German Chancellor Angela Merkel – the current president of the European Council – and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso. The document acknowledges "the transatlantic economy remains at the forefront of globalization," arguing that the U.S. and the European Union "seek to strengthen transatlantic economic integration." The agreement established a new Transatlantic Economic Council to be chaired on the U.S. side by a cabinet-level officer in the White House and on the EU side by a member of the European Commission. The current U.S. head of the new Transatlantic Economic Council is Allan Hubbard, assistant to the president for Economic Policy and director of the National Economic Council. The current EU head of the council is Günther Verheugen, vice-President of the European Commission in charge of enterprise and industry. The Transatlantic Economic Council was tasked with creating regulatory convergence between the U.S. and the EU on some 40 different public policy areas, including intellectual property rights, developing security standards for international trade, getting U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Practices) recognized in Europe, developing innovation and technology in health industries, implementing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technologies, developing a science-based plan on bio-based products and establishing a "regular dialogue" to address obstacles to investment. At a joint press conference, Bush thanked the other two leaders for signing the "trans-Atlantic economic integration plan," commenting that, "It is a recognition that the closer that the United States and the EU become, the better off our people will be." Barroso said the Transatlantic Economic Council is meant to be "a permanent body, with senior people on both sides of the Atlantic." Global governance is not necessarily losing national identity, but having laws dictated by foreign interests. This is exactly what is happening. In a Western world that prides itself on rule of law, whoever writes the laws controls the nations. What is being worked toward now is integrating international law that trumps national law. This is a very dangerous game to play with men hungry for power. They have done an effective job hiding their evil intentions from the world and to find out what they've been up to one must search it out. Most people are content with their personal situation enough to let things move on in their course. The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP.gov) is meeting in a formal organizational structure working to integrate and harmonize our laws. The course of the world today is taking us directly to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and those in control in the world are not looking out for the interests of the world, but are consolidating their power to control the world with their brand of laws meant to further solidify their control. This will eventually be handed over to the antichrist. That the man of sin is said to come from a revived Rome -- See Daniel 9:26,27 -- is interesting considering what has been occurring since EUROMED -- E.U. "ROMED" -- in 1995 with the consolidation of power in Europe. Now we are seeing this integration of international trade is creating the infrastructure and the beginning of governmental integration that can more easily be used in the future to integrate control of many nations through laws dictated from outside the United States. This is only the beginning, and it starts out seemingly insignificant so as not to catch the ire of the population.
