Olmert: I Offered Palestinians East Jerusalem

Former Israeli Prime Minister [PM] Ehud Olmert revealed that he offered the Palestinians East Jerusalem during peace talks under his tenure. �I offered a solution in Jerusalem�the Jewish parts would be Israel�s and the Arab parts would be in the Palestinian state,� Olmert said at a forum in Tel Aviv. The former PM, who is standing trial for alleged corruption, added that he �proposed a solution that was based on the 1967 borders but takes into account the demographic reality and leaves a certain percent of the territories in Israel�s hands.�

Israeli�Palestinian peace negotiations have been suspended for over a year despite US-mediated efforts to get them back on track.
