News for February 20, 2008FYI: February 20th Total Lunar Eclipse David Rives Ministries - A total eclipse of the Moon occurs during the night of Wednesday, February 20/21, 2008. The entire event is visible from South America and most of North America (on Feb. 20) as well as Western Europe, Africa, and western Asia (on Feb. 21). During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon's disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray. An eclipse of the Moon can only take place at Full Moon, and only if the Moon passes through some portion of Earth's shadow. The shadow is actually composed of two cone-shaped parts, one nested inside the other. The outer shadow or penumbra is a zone where Earth blocks some (but not all) of the Sun's rays. In contrast, the inner shadow or umbra is a region where Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the Moon. If only part of the Moon passes through the umbra, a partial eclipse is seen. However, if the entire Moon passes through the umbral shadow, then a total eclipse of the Moon occurs. For more information on how, what, why, where and when of lunar eclipses, see the special web page lunar eclipses for beginners. Quake in Indonesia Kills 3, Injures 25 Breitbart.com
(February 20, 2008) - A powerful earthquake
struck western Indonesia on Wednesday, killing at least three people, injuring
25 others, and damaging several buildings, officials said. No tsunami was
detected. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude
of 7.6 and struck under the island of Simeulue off the western coast of
Sumatra—the region worst hit in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Minutes after
the quake hit, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a bulletin saying
parts of the Sumatran coast closest to the epicenter were at risk of a possible
tsunami. However, it canceled the alert two hours later, saying sea gauges
had not detected any large waves. Rustam Pakaya, the head of the Indonesian
Health Ministry's disaster center, said "many" buildings on Simeulue
were damaged and three people were killed. He said at least 25 others were
seriously injured. The quake was felt across much of western and northern
Sumatra island, witnesses said. Many people fled their homes. "Everything
shook very strongly for more than a minute, and I ran along with the others.
I heard people screaming in panic," said Aceh resident Ahmad Yushadi.
Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago with a population of 235 million
people, is prone to seismic upheaval because of its location on the "Ring
of Fire," an arc of volcanos and fault lines encircling the Pacific
Basin. The fault that ruptured Wednesday off the coast of Sumatra is particularly
deadly. A magnitude-9 quake there in 2004 triggered a tsunami that killed
more than 230,000 people in a dozen countries, most of them on Sumatra.
Three months later, an 8.7 quake farther down the fault killed 1,000 on
the islands of Nias and Simeulue.
Israel, US discuss deploying NATO troops in West Bank
Jerusalem Post (February
20, 2008) - The United States is reviewing the feasibility of deploying
a NATO force in the West Bank as a way to ease IDF security concerns and
facilitate an Israeli withdrawal from the area within the coming years,
defense officials have told The Jerusalem Post. The plan, which is being
spearheaded by US Special Envoy to the region Gen. James Jones, is being
floated among European countries, which could be asked to contribute troops
to a West Bank multinational force. Jones, a former commander of NATO, was
sent to Israel in November to help the Israelis and Palestinians frame some
of the security mechanics necessary for a broader peace agreement. As first
reported in the Post last month, Jones's plan calls for stationing third-party
troops in the West Bank to secure the area in the interim period following
an Israeli withdrawal and before the Palestinian Authority can take over
full security control. "The deployment of such a force has come up
in talks, and Jones is known to be working on it," a senior defense
official said Tuesday. "At the moment, it's just an idea and has yet
to be accepted or adopted by Israel." Defense Minister Ehud Barak has
met with Jones and been briefed on the plan, but has yet to finalize his
position. An official close to Barak said the deployment of a multinational
force in the West Bank could create operational challenges for the IDF if
it decided to respond to Palestinian terror attacks following the withdrawal.
One of the issues that most concerns Israel is whether under such a withdrawal,
the IDF would retain its operational freedom in the West Bank despite the
presence of the multinational force. "If they fire a Kassam rocket
into Israel, will we be able to respond, or will we need to rely on the
foreign troops stationed there?" one defense official asked. On Tuesday,
US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones hinted at the possibility of deploying
an international force for the period following a withdrawal and until the
PA could ensure security in the West Bank. Speaking at a meeting of the
Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jones also
predicted that it would take several years before any such plan was implemented. "This
is going to be a long, hard slog," he said. "But once a mutually
accepted vision is accepted, both sides will accept the reality and encourage
each side to work towards goals set out by the road map." more...
America's economy risks the mother of all meltdowns
Financial Times (February
19, 2008) - "I would tell audiences that we were facing not
a bubble but a froth - lots of small, local bubbles that never grew to a
scale that could threaten the health of the overall economy." Alan
Greenspan, The Age of Turbulence. That used to be Mr Greenspan's view of
the US housing bubble. He was wrong, alas. So how bad might this downturn
get? To answer this question we should ask a true bear. My favourite one
is Nouriel Roubini of New York University's Stern School of Business, founder
of RGE monitor. Recently, Professor Roubini's scenarios have been dire enough
to make the flesh creep. But his thinking deserves to be taken seriously.
He first predicted a US recession in July 2006*. At that time, his view
was extremely controversial. It is so no longer. Now he states that there
is "a rising probability of a 'catastrophic' financial and economic
outcome"**. The characteristics of this scenario are, he argues: "A
vicious circle where a deep recession makes the financial losses more severe
and where, in turn, large and growing financial losses and a financial meltdown
make the recession even more severe." Prof Roubini is even fonder of
lists than I am. Here are his 12 - yes, 12 - steps to financial disaster.
Step one is the worst housing recession in US history. House prices will,
he says, fall by 20 to 30 per cent from their peak, which would wipe out
between $4,000bn and $6,000bn in household wealth. Ten million households
will end up with negative equity and so with a huge incentive to put the
house keys in the post and depart for greener fields. Many more home-builders
will be bankrupted. Step two would be further losses, beyond the $250bn-$300bn
now estimated, for subprime mortgages. About 60 per cent of all mortgage
origination between 2005 and 2007 had "reckless or toxic features",
argues Prof Roubini. Goldman Sachs estimates mortgage losses at $400bn.
But if home prices fell by more than 20 per cent, losses would be bigger.
That would further impair the banks' ability to offer credit. Step three
would be big losses on unsecured consumer debt: credit cards, auto loans,
student loans and so forth. The "credit crunch" would then spread
from mortgages to a wide range of consumer credit. Step four would be the
downgrading of the monoline insurers, which do not deserve the AAA rating
on which their business depends. A further $150bn writedown of asset-backed
securities would then ensue. Step five would be the meltdown of the commercial
property market, while step six would be bankruptcy of a large regional
or national bank. Step seven would be big losses on reckless leveraged buy-outs.
Hundreds of billions of dollars of such loans are now stuck on the balance
sheets of financial institutions. more...
Banks "quietly" borrow $50 billion from Fed: report
Reuters (February
19, 2008) - Banks in the United States have been quietly borrowing "massive
amounts" from the U.S. Federal Reserve in recent weeks, using a new
measure the Fed introduced two months ago to help ease the credit crunch,
according to a report on the web site of The Financial Times. The newspaper
said the use of the Fed's Term Auction Facility (TAF), which allows banks
to borrow at relatively attractive rates against a wide range of their assets,
saw borrowing of nearly $50 billion of one-month funds from the Fed by mid-February.
The Financial Times said the move has sparked unease among some analysts
about the stress developing in opaque corners of the U.S. banking system
and the banks' growing reliance on indirect forms of government support.
Credit Suisse Shocks With $2.8Bn Mark-Down
Financial Times (February 19, 2008)
- Credit Suisse sent fresh tremors through the banking sector Tuesday when
it revealed $2.85bn of mark-downs on structured credit positions caused
in part by “pricing errors” by some of the Swiss investment bank’s traders.
Credit Suisse has suspended a number of traders in connection with the write-down.
It said they remained employees of the bank pending the outcome of a review.
5.0 Quake Shakes Calif.-Mexico Border NewsMax
(February 19, 2008) - An estimated 5.0-magnitude
earthquake has shaken the U.S.-Mexico border region near San Diego. The
Imperial County Sheriff's Department says there have been no immediate reports
of injuries or damage. Authorities in Mexico say they are checking for damage
and injuries. The U.S. Geological Survey says Tuesday's quake struck about
2:40 p.m. 21 miles southeast of the U.S. border city of Calexico. Three
other quakes with magnitudes of 5.4, 5.1 and 5.0 have rattled the area in
the past two weeks, causing blackouts and temporarily knocking out cell
phone service. Media criticize JFK "Conspiracy theorists" before any theories begin! American Chronicle (February 18, 2008) - There was a time when the MSM (mainstream media) would have the decency to at least wait until a "theory" was presented, before shooting it down and branding the author a "conspiracy theorist". Not any more it seems. According to reports, a transcript of a purported conversation between Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby has just been discovered, and will be released by Dallas officials. The opening sentence in an article by ABC said "It reads like a movie screenplay," and then adds "it is likely to give new life to conspiracy theories that there was something more to President Kennedy's assassination." Apparently, the documents were discovered in a forgotten Dallas courtroom safe, and "may be a President's Day gift to conspiracy believers who have long disagreed with the official version of what happened" says the ABC article (a comment repeated in a Reuter´s article). Is this some "new" evidence that will crack the JFK assassination mystery once and for all? Who knows? Even if it really is a genuine transcript of a conversation between Oswald and Ruby, is the government going to admit to it? It´s unlikely that any evidence will change the situation, as this is one secret that will always remain a mystery (unless of course you believe the official version that is). But why do the media automatically "attack" those who challenge the "facts", are we really supposed to accept that the authorities´ honesty is beyond question and keep quiet? The reason so called "conspiracy theories" develop, is because certain people are less than generous with the truth. To my mind, anyone who keeps a secret is a person with something to hide! Once upon a time, the words "Conspiracy theory" meant: a theory that some unexplained event is the result of covert action by powerful organizations. However, this description has changed, and to the government and media it now means: crazy person who is not willing to accept the official version of events. As I write articles about many strange topics, I have often been called a "conspiracy theorist", an "unreliable source", and even a person who might wear a "tin-foil hat", but quite frankly I don´t give a damn! If I see something that can not be easily explained, I write about it and offer opinions. If other people want to stick their heads in the sand (or some other dark place), that is their business! Today, I am not going to offer any new theories on the JFK assassination, I think that subject has been covered well enough over the last 44 years, but what I find more worrying is the media's obsession with mocking those who attempt to question events that don´t stand up to scrutiny. Some of us can remember when "newspaper people" used to do this, but they were called "reporters"
Damaging Tornadoes Touch Down in South Breitbart.com
(February 18, 2008) - Rescue crews searched
door-to-door for people trapped in wreckage after a tornado crashed through
town, part of a wild weekend of weather that also included rain, snow and
flooding in the Midwest. No fatalities were immediately reported in Prattville,
outside Montgomery, but two people were critically injured, said Fire Department
official Dallis Johnson. Twenty-seven people had minor injuries, officials
said. About 200 homes were damaged or destroyed. A curfew began as darkness
fell Sunday. A 35-bed mobile hospital unit was set up outside a Kmart to
treat victims with minor to moderate injuries so that hospitals could take
those with serious injuries, Dr. Steve Allen said. Toppled utility poles
and storm debris littered the area. Shelters opened at churches, and school
buses shuttled storm victims out of the stricken area to the city center.
David Shoupe, 18, assistant manager at Palm Beach Tan, said he and a co-worker
barely made it into a laundry room before the roof fell in and the wind
tossed shopping carts aloft. "Soon as we turned the corner, the roof
collapsed everywhere except the laundry room," Shoupe said, standing
beside his car, which had its front windshield cracked by debris and the
other windows shattered. About 9,000 homes and businesses lost power in
Prattville. The tornado was part of storms that swept across the South,
damaging homes elsewhere in Alabama and in the Florida Panhandle. A tornado
destroyed four homes in Escambia County, Fla. About 60 other homes, businesses
and storage buildings were damaged to varying degrees, said county spokeswoman
Sonya Daniel. Residents hustled to clear debris, cover broken windows and
spread tarpaulins on roofs. "I expected to hear the roof blow off as
bad as that wind was blowing," Willie Chastang, 58, told the Pensacola
News Journal. Across the border in Escambia County, Ala., two houses were
destroyed by a possible tornado in rural Dixie, the Weather Service said.
The storm damaged some structures in Covington County, Ala., and toppled
trees, said Jeremie Shaffer, assistant director of the county emergency
management agency. Freezing rain and snow fell across the southern two-thirds
of Wisconsin, still weary from a major snowstorm that stranded hundreds
of motorists and snarled travel for days. Numerous crashes were reported,
and authorities urged people to stay off roads. The National Weather Service
issued a blizzard warning for much of Iowa and Wisconsin, as well as flood
warnings in parts of the two states. The conditions forced shopping malls,
libraries and churches to close. Democratic presidential candidates Hillary
Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama postponed or canceled campaign stops ahead
of Tuesday's primary. Heavy snow and slush closed Kansas City International
Airport for almost six hours, the longest closure in its 35-year history,
authorities said. Dozens of flights were canceled. The severe weather in
the South comes on the heels of a tornado outbreak this month that killed
more than 50 people in several states, including Alabama.
Sarkozy wants six-nation elite EU defence force
EUX.tv (February
17, 2008) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy is pushing to create
an elite European defence force consisting of forces from the six largest
EU member states: France, Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy and Poland. According
to an outline of the plans presented in French daily Le Figaro, each of
the six countries would contribute 10,000 troops for a special intervention
force, they would all spend a minimum of 2 percent of GDP on defence, and
they would jointly make major defence acquisitions. The group of six would
constitute a European "hard core" defence group, said French MP
Pierre Lellouche in a recent interview with Le Figaro. Lellouche is Sarkozy's
spokesman on defence. Plans for increased defence cooperation among EU member
states are seen as controversial in NATO circles. In the past they have
drawn fire especially from the United States. EU member states already have
a mechanism for joint procurement in the area of defence. France is due
to take over the rotating presidency of the EU in July. 'Syria
and Iran anticipating serious military clash with Israel'
Jerusalem Newswire
(February 17, 2008) - Damascus and Tehran
expect to soon be caught up in a military confrontation with Israel. According
to a report in Al-Ahkbar, a Lebanese newspaper said to be affiliated with
Hizb'allah, the Syrian and Iranian-sponsored terrorist organization does
not intend to let last week's execution of top terrorist Amad Mugniyah be
left unanswered. The concensus in the region is that Israel was behind the
blowing up of Mugniyah's car, and Hizb'allah chief Hassan Nasrallah has
vowed to make Israel pay in "open war." Defense Minister Ehud
Barak told the cabinet in Jerusalem Sunday he has put the Israeli Air Force
on alert for a possible Hizb'allah attack against Jewish communities in
the north. Barak said Israel was prepared for the possibility that an explosives-laden
pilotless drone could be sent to explode inside an Israeli community. Gaza
Muslims continue ethnic-cleansing effort Jerusalem
Newswire (February 17, 2008) - Muslims
attacked the library of the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) in
Gaza Friday in the latest move to drive Christians and Christianity out
of the Islamist-controlled Strip. According to a report in The Jerusalem
Post Sunday, gunmen - some masked, others not - "stormed" the
library, kidnapped two security guards, looted electronic equipment and
stole a vehicle, then detonated a number of bombs inside the building, totally
destroying the book collection. Intent on making the area Islamically "pure,"
Muslim Arabs have looked for "reasons" to "justify"
their targeting of the tiny Christian community - around 3000 strong - that
lives in the midst of Gaza's 1.4 million Muslims. The persecution has increased
since Hamas violently took control of Gaza a year ago. On October 6 last
year, Muslims abducted Rami Ayyad, the manager of Gaza's only Christian
bookstore that had been bombed by masked Muslims six months earlier. Ayyad,
31, was the father of two small children; his wife was pregnant with their
third. His shot and repeatedly stabbed body was found a day after he disappeared.
For Gaza's Muslims, ridding themselves of any active Christian presence
would be cherry on top after successfully forcing Israel to remove every
single Jew from Gaza in 2005. "Palestinian" crowds have often
been heard to chant: "First we'll fight on Saturday and then on Sunday"
- meaning, after they rid themselves of Jews they will rid themselves of
Christians.
Earthquake Damages Temple Mount and Shechem
Unsealed Prophecy (February 17, 2008)
- An earthquake shook Israel at 12:37 PM Friday. The only damage reported
in Israel was on the Temple Mount and near Shechem (Nablus). The earthquake
measured 5.3 on the Richter scale; its epicenter was located in northeastern
Lebanon. Earlier last week an earthquake measuring 4.1 was felt in northern
Israel, also originating from Lebanon, near its northern city of Tyre.A
large hole opened up on the Temple Mount during Friday’s earthquake, which
was soon covered by officials from the Wakf Islamic Authority that administers
the mosques built atop Judaism’s holiest site. The only other reported damage
in the Holy Land was incurred between Palestinian Authority-controlled Shechem
(Nablus) and Jenin, where an old home collapsed, blocking the main road
to the village of Khufin. The village is not far from the site of the Biblical
Joseph’s Tomb, which was
set ablaze by Muslim vandals last week. At least five people were injured
and two homes were destroyed in southern Lebanon as a result of Friday’s
quake. Wakf officials tried to blame Israel for the 6-foot by 5-foot hole,
which is about three feet deep, claiming it was caused by Israel, which
it accuses of tunneling beneath the Temple Mount. They demanded an end to
all Israeli excavations in the area. Though several excavation projects
are taking place around the Western Wall Plaza, none of them entail tunneling
past the wall itself and beneath the mount. The Wakf’s official position
is that there was never a Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount and has gone
to great efforts to erase archaeological evidence of Judaism’s historical
ties to the site. Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz issued a statement
rejecting the Muslim claims. “These are mendacious reports without a grain
of truth,” he said, adding that work in the Temple Mount compound would
be contrary to Jewish law. “Such claims are a desecration and cause hatred
and incitement for no reason whatsoever,” Rabbi Rabinowitz said. He stressed
that work on the Rambam (Mughrabi) Gate ramp to the Temple Mount is vital
for the safety of those who visit the Western Wall and called on the authorities
to finish the work speedily.
Global Systemic Crisis / September 2008 - Phase of Collapse of US Real Economy
Global Europe Anticipation Bulletin GEAP
(February 16, 2008) - According to LEAP/E2020,
the end of the third quarter of 2008 will be marked by a new tipping point
in the unfolding of the global systemic crisis. At that time indeed, the
cumulated impact of the various sequences of the crisis (see table below)
will reach its maximum strength and affect decisively the very heart of
the systems concerned, on the frontline of which the United States, epicentre
of the current crisis. In the United States, this new tipping point will
translate into a collapse of the real economy, final socio-economic stage
of the serial bursting of the housing and financial bubbles (1) and of the
pursuance of the US dollar fall. The collapse of US real economy means the
virtual freeze of the American economic machinery: private and public bankruptcies
in large numbers, companies and public services closing down massively (2),...
A revealing harbinger: from March 2008 onward, the US government will stop
a service publishing its economic indicators due to budget restrictions
(3). Those who read the GEAB N°2 (02/2006) and included Alert certainly
keep in mind our anticipation which connected the upcoming fall of the US
dollar with the US Fed's decision to cease publishing the M3 indicator.
This new decision is another clear sign that US leaders are now anticipating
a very bleak economic outlook for their country. In this 22nd issue of the
GEAB, LEAP/E2020's experts try in particular to anticipate very specifically
what will come out of the collapse of the US real economy for the United
States themselves and for the other regions of the world. Meanwhile our
team presents five sets of strategic and operational recommendations helping
to protect oneself from the upcoming deterioration of the global systemic
crisis. On the occasion of the second anniversary of the publication of
our famous “Global systemic crisis Alert” which toured the world in February
2006 (4), LEAP/E2020 wishes to remind that we are now resolutely stepping
into an era with no historical precedent. Our researchers insisted on that
many times in the last two years: any comparison with the previous crises
of our modern economy would be fallacious. It is neither a “remake” of the
1929 crisis nor a repetition of the 1970s oil crises or 1987 stock market
crisis. It is truly a global systemic crisis, that is to say a crisis affecting
the entire planet and questioning the very foundations of the international
system upon which the world was organised in the last decades. According
to LEAP/E2020, it is also instructive to observe that, two years after the
release of this « Alert » which at the time generated both the interest
of millions of readers worldwide and the condescending irony of most « experts
» and « managers » of the economic and financial spheres, everyone is now
convinced that a crisis is truly happening, that it is really global, and
for most people already that it could indeed be systemic. However, it is
always a repeated astonishment for our team to see the degree of incapacity
of these same experts and managers in understanding the specific nature
of the phenomenon currently unfolding. According to them, this crisis would
only be a usual crisis but bigger. As a matter of fact that's how the financial
media reflect the dominant interpretations of the ongoing crisis. According
to our team, this approach is not only intellectually lazy (5), it is also
morally guilty, because it has for a main consequence to prevent their readers
(whether they are simple citizens, private investors or public or private
organisation managers) from preparing for the upcoming shocks (6). For this
reason, in opposition to all what can be read in the mainstream media always
eager to conceal the truth and serve the interests of those who rule them,
LEAP/E2020 wishes to remind that it is first and foremost in the United
States that the systemic crisis is taking an unprecedented shape (the «
Very Great US Depression » as our team decided to call it in January 2007
(7)) because it is around this country, and this country alone, that the
world got progressively organised after the second World War. The various
issues of the GEAB extensively described this situation. In short, it appears
to be useful to make clear that neither Europe nor Asia have a negative
saving rate, a full-scale housing crisis throwing millions of citizens out
of their homes, a free-falling currency, abysmal public and trade deficits,
an economic recession and, on top of all this, a number of costly wars to
finance. Neither Asia nor Europe (or more precisely ‘nor the Eurozone')
will suffer the roughest, the most sustainable and the most negative impact
of the ongoing crisis; but the United States will, as well as all the countries/economies
strongly linked to the US (what our experts have decided to call “the American
risk”) (8). A “decoupling” is indeed taking place between the US economy
and the other large regions of the world. But “decoupling” does not mean
“independence” and it is clear that, as anticipated by LEAP/E2020 for many
months, Asia and Europe will be affected by the crisis. But « decoupling
» entails that the evolution of the US economy and of the other large regions
of the world are no longer synchronised, that Asia and Europe are now moving
along courses no longer determined by the US economy. The global systemic
crisis is in fact the beginning of an economic « decoupling » between the
US and the rest of the world, knowing that the non « decoupled » economies
will be dragged down the US negative spiral. more... According to Bible prophecy, Europe will be the source of power in the world during the great tribulation. Indeed things are shaping up that way and when you examine history and our current monetary system, also here and here and here, this collapse seems tailor made. If America's economic collapse negatively affects the rest of the world, could we see an emergency action to create a new global monetary system not dependent upon printing currency, but rather using current electronic international banking systems to create a cashless society that is secured through the use of tattoo RFID ink and readers?
A Common Agenda Behind all the Military Conflict
The International Forecaster
(February 16, 2008) - The disgrace of a nation,
having the best enemies that money can buy, questioning the reasons for
war, and agendas of elitists for creating conflict for power and profit.
We thought we would start out today's IF with a word to our troops as they
fight against an enemy funded by the Illuminati under circumstances intentionally
designed by these sociopaths to prevent the US military from achieving any
kind of a victory. Only ties (i.e. Korea), losses (i.e. Vietnam) and unfinished
jobs (i.e. Gulf War I) are allowed. Why? Because a powerful US economy
and military are together the single greatest threat to the implementation
of world government. The planned destruction of US military and economic
might are at the top of the Illuminist agenda. Nothing else comes even remotely
close in priority to this objective. Yet today to speak out against the
current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan allows the government to declare
that the speaker, who is clearly a patriotic American by any other standard,
can instead be declared by the President to be what the USA Patriot Act
and the Military Commissions Act of 2006 terms to be an "unlawful enemy
combatant," subjecting the objector to capture, extraordinary rendition,
torture and a total suspension of the right of habeas corpus, among other
atrocities. This applies to US citizens and non-citizens alike, despite
the neocon lies to the contrary. So much for the Bill of Rights and the
Constitution that all soldiers are sworn to uphold. For this reason, our
country has become a worldwide disgrace under the reprobate leadership of
the past two Administrations. Note that we termed the current military actions
in Iraq and Afghanistan to be "conflicts," and not as "wars,"
because Congress has not declared war on either country, a failure, which
renders these Commander-in-Chief declared wars not only immoral but also
unconstitutional. In more recent times, instead of fighting declared wars
against specific countries, we fight undeclared wars against elitist-created
shadow groups or against acts of violent, unlawful behavior. Instead of
having a declared war against Iraq or Afghanistan, we have an undeclared "War
on Terror" which is as phony as a three dollar bill because it is based
on an Illuminist-orchestrated act of terror reminiscent of the Pearl Harbor
attack which we knew was coming and did nothing about so we could be dragged
kicking and screaming into
World War II. The Illuminati funded 911 and aided and abetted the terrorists
while their black ops set charges in the Twin Towers during phony fire drills
in order to bring them down by controlled demolition so we could be dragged
kicking and screaming into Afghanistan and later into Iraq. This was all
laid out in the Project for a New American Century and our own government
and its dark, black, shadowy operatives were complicit in the 911 atrocity.
We apparently don't know who we are fighting anymore, and that is because
the Illuminati do not want us to know that it is really them we are fighting.
The Communists, the Socialists, the Fascists, the Nazis, the Viet Cong,
Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, al Qaeda, the Taliban, the PLO, you name it,
these diabolical elitists have funded every one of these groups. As Dr.
Stan Monteith is fond of saying, we have the best enemies that money can
buy. And how many of our soldiers have died fighting the enemy entities
funded by our own government and the large multinational banks, corporations
and charitable trusts of the Illuminati, not to mention all the other soldiers
and civilians of all other nationalities who were involved in these contrived
wars and conflicts. We shudder to think. The Illuminati make Hitler, Stalin
and Mao look like choirboys. The Illuminists created their empires and brought
this trio of winners to power for Pete's sake! But the sad truth is, no
matter how you might name the war or conflict, and whether it is being fought
against a specific country or against nameless, faceless individuals such
as terrorists, all wars are orchestrated and fought for profit. These profits
are made in arms, pharmaceuticals, aircrafts, motor vehicles, equipment,
food, tires, mercenaries, outright thefts of cash, etc., and will total
in the many hundreds of billions and eventually trillions just in the current
conflicts alone. Do you find it hard to believe that all wars, on a non-military,
elitist level, are orchestrated for profit and not for patriotic reasons
or for the spread of democracy? Do you find it hard to believe that our
soldiers have become the unknowing henchmen of sinister, trillionaire Satanists?
more... Perhaps you think the article a little too extreme? My intention is not to cause division, but to give reason for my lack of trust relating to the globalization efforts I'm watching unfold because of events like these. The Alliance of Civilizations is coming against all religious fundamentalists because of the actions of radical groups and terrorist events like that. But remember that we don't fight against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 The enemy is not bound by national boundaries and indeed it is in his plans as foretold in scripture to eliminate national sovereignty and instead rule the entire world through one man who comes with signs and lying wonders to deceive the world and demand worship from them. America as it has been cannot coexist with this global dictatorship and so must be eliminated for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled. God is giving the world what it wants, not Him. I would also recommend reading the Treaty of Lisbon to see just how close the legalities of global cooperation in the "war on terror" among other such uniting principles of global consciousness have us to a war on religious fundamentalism too. Is it possible that money and power and spiritual wickedness in high places could be in control of the media we are programmed by? Could it be that what we've been told is just a ruse to keep us quiet while plans are carried out behind the scenes? Can good-meaning people be duped by wicked people who are willing to lie, cheat, steal and kill to accomplish their goals? Is it possible for elitists in government to keep out the good while building up those willing to work with them? Given my studies of history and where the Bible says we are in history, the answers are yes. The first part of the following film is very anti-Christian and there is a clear bias there which is based in ignorance to Bible prophecy that foretold what this video details. However, this third part addresses only the history of the central banks and America's Federal Reserve. In addition, it covers how WWI, WWII and Vietnam were used to build the power and wealth of the international bankers. It also points to the media control over the minds of the modern generation and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) leading to globalization and the destruction of the Constitution. At the 41 minute mark, a New Age idea of our "oneness with nature" and with each other. I do not endorse nor believe that there is any path to immortality but through accepting the sacrifice of Yeshua for the sins of man. Please disregard the information beyond that point. I present this for the facts of history presented, not the misguided spiritual beliefs presented at the end. It is possible for people to examine history and come to a wrong conclusion about the spiritual nature of the battle we are fighting. Have you wondered just how Lucifer is able to give all power and authority to the man of sin if he is not in control of the world already? To be honest, I feel sorry for these people because eternity is not going to be pretty for those who choose to separate themselves from God's love. Revelation 13:1-10 We as Christians do not fight, we warn and bring the lost to the knowledge of our salvation in Yeshua the Christ. Matthew 10:16 Understand what is happening and why, but keep your eyes on Yeshua always and keep watching! Luke 21:34-36
France: Sarkozy wins vote on EU treaty with help of Socialist Party
World Socialist Website
(February 16, 2008) - President Nicolas Sarkozy
has finally succeeded in imposing the Lisbon Treaty on the French population,
with critical assistance from the Socialist Party. The treaty was approved
by the National Assembly on February 7 by a vote of 336 to 52. A majority
of Socialist Party deputies voted in favour or were absent from the vote.
The treaty is a revised version of the European Constitution, which was
decisively rejected by French and Dutch voters in popular referendums in
2005 because it embodied the free-market economics required by European
capitalism. Although the Socialist Party (SP) and its ally in the National
Assembly, the French Communist Party (PCF), did not have enough members
to vote down the treaty, three days earlier they had the opportunity to
require the government to put the issue before the French people in another
referendum before it could be ratified by parliament. The acceptance of
the treaty necessitated a modification of the French constitution, which
requires a three-fifths majority vote of the Congress (the joint meeting
of the National Assembly and the Senate at the Palace of Versailles), the
only body empowered to change the constitution. The modification allowed
the EU Treaty to be adopted without a referendum. While the SP, along with
the PCF, did have the two-fifths representation that would have enabled
them to prevent the constitutional change, they chose not to do so. The
ruling elites of France and Europe feared that the French working class,
in opposition to Sarkozy’s dismantling of the welfare state and attacks
on living standards and democratic rights, would again scupper their plans.
By allowing Sarkozy to push through the Lisbon Treaty, the SP has effectively
given the go-ahead to the government to carry forward its vast programme
of “reforms.” Sarkozy appeared on television February 10 to express his
relief that “a simplified treaty...was a solution that allowed partisans
and opponents of the [European] constitution to surmount their differences.”
In fact, the constitution and the Lisbon Treaty are essentially identical.
The architect of the constitution, former French president Valéry Giscard
d’Estaing, has already described the Lisbon Treaty as a “near perfect copy
of the 2005 treaty.”
6 Dead In N. Illinois University Massacre CBS
(February 15, 2008) - A gunman opened fire
on a geology class at Northern Illinois University Thursday afternoon, killing
five people before taking his own life on stage as panicked students ran
and ducked for cover. NIU President John Peters said a total of 22 people
were shot, including the gunman. Four people, including the gunman, died
at the scene; two others died later at area hospitals. Earlier, the DeKalb
County coroner's office had said seven people had died, but Friday morning,
coroner Dennis Miller said that was incorrect. The gunman was identified
Friday as 27-year-old former student Steven Kazmierczak, according to Florida
authorities and a source familiar with the investigation. Polk County, Fla.,
sheriff's officials said they were asked to notify the suspect's father
-- Robert Kazmierczak of Lakeland, Fla. -- of his son's death. "His
son, Steven, was the shooting suspect at Northern Illinois University and
... he was deceased," said Carrie Rodgers, spokeswoman for the sheriff's
office. The five victims have been identified. They are: Ryanne Mace, 19,
of Carpentersville; Catalina Garcia, 20, of Cicero; Dan Parmenter, 20 of
Elmhurst; Gayle Dubowski 20 of Carol Stream; and Julianna Gehant, 32, of
downstate Meridian, according to the DeKalb County coroner's office. All
of the gunman's victims were students. Officials said the gunman opened
fire in a lecture hall shortly after 3 p.m. and the campus was immediately
placed on lockdown. Police were on the scene within a few minutes, but the
gunman had already killed himself by the time they arrived. more... Sleep well: Javier Solana and Company are Protecting you! Constance Cumbey (February 15, 2008) - Last year, this time, Javier Solana spoke in New York City to the Arthur Burns Foundation, a German-American journalist group. "Dear Javier" was introduced as the "face and voice of Europe" by the German Ambassador to the USA. It appears he celebrated Valentine's Day, once again, not with wife Concepcion, but in New York City, this time to celebrate the opening of a foundation designed to shred, if not obliterate, national sovereignty: "Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect." In his own imicable words:
But, who's going to protect us from "Dear Javier" and the "Global
Centre"? On the surface, the idea of protecting the helpless is great. However it is where the Bible says this leads and where the documentation leads that concerns me because the Alliance of Civilizations is going hand-in-hand to fight against those who claim sole ownership to the Truth as the Bible does. And so those who believe the Bible become the terrorists and "destroyers of civilization." Read the Treaty of Lisbon excerpts and how this plays into the coming war on the saints. North
Korea, Muslim countries make list of top persecuting nations
One News Now (February
15, 2008) - A new report shows that China's communist government
has stepped up its crackdown on Christians. According to the annual report
released by the
China Aid Association, there were 60 cases of known persecutions against
house churches last year -- up from 46 cases in 2006. The report also found
that 788 people were persecuted, a total up from 665 the year before. Bob
Fu, president of the China Aid Association, says the crackdown on Christians
and unregistered house churches is related to the upcoming summer Olympic
games. And he says the crackdown is even extending to foreign Christians. "But
one surprising thing was the unprecedented campaign to kick out foreign
Christians and missionaries -- and even businessmen -- from China,"
notes Fu. Fu is encouraging Christians in the West to use their freedom
to call for reforms in China. "We can write letters to President Bush,
who has agreed to attend the China Olympics this summer, [asking] that he
will continue to raise his voice," says Fu. According to Fu, the campaign
to deport foreign Christians is the most widespread of its kind since the
communists took over more than 50 years ago. For the benefit of you doubting Solana's global influence Constance Cumbey (February 13, 2008) - To my readers: There have been some doubters of Javier Solana's global influence, particularly as he currently appears to be hiding behind upcoming 6 month EU presidency holders such as Nicholas Sarkozy and/or Angela Merkel. I thought you might want to review this release coming from his own office last March 2007. It was about a global governance speech he had just delivered to launch a new "global governance" project with the enthusiastic cooperation of many powerful people in the USA. Nearly one year later, I wonder how that "global governance" project is coming? Stay tuned! Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the CFSP, launched
a research initiative on global security at the Brookings Institution, Washington.
Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security
Policy (CFSP), today delivered an introductory lecture to launch a research
initiative on global security at the US think tank the Brookings Institution
in Washington. Mr Solana underlined the good relations between the EU and
the US. In a broader context, as complex security challenges defy traditional
approaches, Mr Solana suggested that, instead of "ad
hoc" international cooperation, a universal system to address complex
security challenges was needed. "Globalization
has unleashed forces that governments can neither stop nor control",
Mr Solana said. Citing terrorism, non-proliferation, climate change, epidemics
and failed states as problems that could not be solved by single governments
alone, Mr Solana called for a revitalization of international cooperation
by finding ways "to share power and think about new power". (Emphasis

For example, a person living in Mexico shares responsibility for the well being of a person living in Pakistan and so forth. Shared Security incorporates the doctrines of EU and UN-architected human security and Canadian-architected Responsibility to Protect. These doctrines are designed to eradicate and prevent extreme poverty, hunger, abuses against women and children, genocide, terrorism, insecurities caused by economic collapse and/or state failure, etc. The Shared Security doctrine is the security model for the new global government. In a globalized world where national borders shall become obsolete, nations are expected to fundamentally shift their security strategies. Strategies which once were concerned primarily with forces of external aggression are now being called upon to focus on threats from within. The issues Shared Security addresses are legitimate and should concern all of us—so why should we oppose it? As one becomes familiar with the global governance leadership one learns to read further to, as Paul Harvey says, “get the rest of the story”. Having read calls for sustainable development following drastic population reduction has left me skeptical that good will is the guiding principle. Underlying Shared Security is a fully-developed interlocking security model called CIMIC, i.e., Civilian-Military Cooperation. To understand CIMIC, let’s further examine the components which make up Shared Security. Starting with the Canadian-architected “Responsibility to Protect”, this doctrine has become the cornerstone of the United Nations’ reform and security architecture. The Report of the International Conference "The EU, the US and the Reform of the United Nations: Challenges and Perspectives reveals that “the most significant conceptual shift occurred through the linking of the notions of sovereignty with that of responsibility. Responsibility is not only a virtue to be promoted to achieve international security; it is also a condition necessary to exercise full sovereignty. For the High Level Panel States are means, not ends per se. The “responsibility to protect” populations from atrocities and gross human rights violations shared between states and international institutions, becomes the new organizing concept for the new international security system. A number of participants shared the view that when states are unable or unwilling to perform these functions, the international community must intervene, even with the use of force when necessary.” Responsibility to Protect is understandable where nations are called upon to respond to state aggression and genocide, but language exists which is vulnerable to broad interpretation and abuse. In my previous blog post I presented some of the global governance documents which target political dissent and monotheistic religious doctrines as “extremist” ideologies which lend themselves to violent radicalization. Interpretations of religious texts which do not conform to the Alliance of Civilizations’ guidelines are said to cause social exclusion and violate others’ human rights. (It escapes their attention that syncretism of the world’s faiths and the requirement that everyone discard their religion for a new revelation—one which their messianic figure Maitreya is expected to introduce—is itself exclusivist and violently radicalizing.) While the Responsibility to Protect establishes the framework for vacating a nation’s sovereignty, it is the Human Security doctrine that, in the interest of human rights, implements the global interlocking civilian-military cooperation (CIMIC) model. The idea behind CIMIC is that it places the civilian population under military policing authority. Canada’s experience with CIMIC provides some insight to what we might expect. The Human Security doctrine, originated by European Union High Representative Javier Solana, is the “preventive engagement” framework which is to be implemented globally. The 10-nation military wing of the European Union—the Western European Union—provides Solana with emergency powers to convene the European Council and preside over the military and civilian crisis management (CIMIC) machinery. Solana’s Human Security doctrine outlines the makings of a police state. Some of its characteristics are:
Notice that Solana understands that CIMIC must be legitimized throughout the populations if he is to be successful. As I read through the global counter-terrorism materials I noticed that religion is being used as the legitimizing vehicle. This reminds me of the Peter Lemesurier’s blueprint for bringing forth Maitreya. In the Armageddon Script one of Lemesurier’s themes is the use of religion against itself:
It is not surprising to see that two United Nation’s organizations—the
Alliance of Civilizations and Religions for Peace—have combined efforts
to promote the concept of Shared Security. more... This is some excellent research by Richard Peterson, please read the whole article! He goes further into how this global governance ideology will turn into the war on the saints who refuse to give up their Biblically-founded beliefs to worship a false god. We will become enemies of the global state, and it's all well in the works RIGHT NOW! Keep watching!
Barkat: Secret agreement to divide Jerusalem reached
YNet News (February
13, 2008) - Jerusalem municipal opposition leader accuses Prime
Minister Olmert, Vice Premier Ramon of 'deceiving Israeli citizens'. Ramon
aide: This is nonsense. Israeli and Palestinian representatives have
reached an agreement to divide Jerusalem, the capital's municipal opposition
leader Nir Barkat said Wednesday. "(Vice Premier) Haim Ramon and the
prime minister are deceiving Israel's citizens," Barkat added after
exchanging letters with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on the negotiations
with the Palestinians. Barkat based his accusations on information from "senior
sources" which he refused to reveal, claiming that Ramon and Palestinian
tycoon Muhammad Rashid had agreed in secret talks on Jerusalem's division. "Livni
refuses to reveal the fundamental information she has, according to which
there is a secret channel which is not being led by the Foreign Ministry.
Knowing this makes her an accomplice in this political deceit, which is
really aimed at dividing Jerusalem behind Israeli citizens' backs,"
said Barkat. In his letter to Livni, Barkat wrote, "I was amazed to
learn that a senior and official Palestinian source was quoted as saying
that 'we can say that Israel is ready to pullout of all the Arab villages
and neighborhoods in Jerusalem.'" He went on to demand that "the
secret agreements" be revealed or that denied. "I would like to
remind you that if this is true, it constitutes a complete deviation from
Kadima's basic principles, a blatant violation of Basic Law: Jerusalem,
a breach of the voter's trust and an undermining of the Knesset's sovereignty,"
he wrote. The foreign minister replied in a letter, "In Annapolis (peace
conference) it was decided that Israel and the Palestinians would hold negotiations
in which all the core issues would be discussed, with no exception,"
confirming that negotiations are being held on the Jerusalem issue, contrary
to Prime Minister Ehud Olmer's remarks in Berlin that the Jerusalem issue
would be postponed to the end of the process. Livni noted in her letter
that "the negotiations are being conducted according to an agreement
between the parties, which states that until everything is agreed upon there
will be no agreement, and that the contents will not be made public."
An official at Ramon's office said in response, "This is nonsense.
These remarks are unfounded and nothing of this kind took place." Diplomatic
sources in Jerusalem said in response to Barkat's claims, "This is
a groundless conspiracy theory. The prime minister and the Palestinian president
meet face to face and do not need anyone's mediation. "The negotiations
are being held in a responsible manner by the prime minister opposite the
Palestinian Authority. There is no need for a secret channel, and therefore
all attempts to invent secret chancels are doomed to fail." Barkat's
remarks joined voices from the coalition by members of the Shas faction,
who threatened to quit the government once negotiations on Jerusalem are
launched. Last week, Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai called
on the government to cease the negotiations with the Palestinians following
the terror attack in Dimona. While I don't know if these "secret talks" are real or not, I do believe the Bible says that Jerusalem will be divided. Indeed this push for peace in the Middle East is centered around creating a Palestinian state on current Israeli lands. There is a time when half the city will go into captivity and the other half will remain, the question is when it will happen. With the touchiness of this subject, I wouldn't be surprised if sneakiness is involved in bringing the peace in the hopes that once there is a Palestinian state and Israelis can live in peace that they will deem the loss of land worth the peace.
EU willing to sustain initiative Times of Malta
(February 12, 2008) - The EU High Representative
for the Common Foreign And Security Policy, Javier Solana yesterday expressed
his conviction that the Maltese initiative to hold the first ever European
Union-Arab League conference will be kept up. Speaking to The Times on his
arrival at the conference venue at the Westin Dragonara in St Julians, Mr
Solana said he was pleased to be here for this important meeting. "After
having met with the Arab League on many occasions in different formats,
now is the first time we meet at a specific meeting between the Arab League
and the 27 EU member states. "We like the idea very much and now we
have to see how we can cooperate in this format." Asked what he expected
to come out of the meeting, Mr Solana said there were no specific issues
that had to be dealt with. What was more important was to strengthen cooperation
between the EU and the Arab League. He said he was glad the idea to hold
this meeting had come from the smallest EU member state, which had quite
a history of relationships in the Mediterranean. Representatives of 27 EU
member states and those of the 22 states which form part of the Arab League
will discuss common issues tomorrow as the foreign ministers' meeting gets
formally under way. The League of Arab States, or Arab League, is a voluntary
association of countries which aims to strengthen ties among member states,
coordinate their policies and direct them towards the common good. The idea
of holding the meeting was first drafted by Maltese Foreign Minister Michael
Frendo. Yesterday he said a number of issues will be discussed during the
one-day meeting. However, he expected nothing ground-breaking to come out
of it. "The event in itself is ground-breaking since it is the first
time this European Union-League of Arab States (EU-LAS) meeting will be
held," he said. Malta was working on drawing up a final communiqué
at the end of the session. "The event was Malta's idea and this shows
the standing the island has in convincing the EU and the Arab League to
hold this conference here. "This meeting will give impetus to the EU
and the Arab League, both of them existing structures, to seek closer cooperation
in the future," Minister Frendo said. The event is a showcase for Malta,
he added. "We are exposing our country to other countries, many of
which have not been to Malta in a while. Many have already commented that
they were amazed at the improvements it has made. "This conference
is an indirect proposal for investment. We cannot underestimate the ripple
effects such a conference will have on the country's economy."
more... Closer cooperation with the EU means increased global cooperation as America is also doing in the name of peace and security from terrorism and international economic cooperation. However, in the end the Islamic and Western peoples are going to come together as prophesied and give their power and worship to Mr. Europe. Sounds crazy, huh? Truth is stranger than fiction. I believe there are still several events to get us there, but they are doozies and will change global perceptions. For Islam, I believe the 12th Mahdi will come and act as the Biblical false prophet. Through this figure the Islamic element will be deceived by signs and lying wonders into taking the mark and participating, probably through these very agreements being worked for business today. For some of the "Christian" world, I believe a new Pope will represent the power structure of the Vatican symbolized in scripture as the woman riding the beast. I just ordered Vatican Assassins: Wounded In The House of My Friends and am interested to read some of the sources of history Eric Jon Phelps gives to show the Truth of: Revelation 17:18 The power is centered in Rome, but the political structure will backlash against the woman leaving only the political and new spiritual center of the antichrist's kingdom during the great tribulation.
Southern Mexico Coast Hit by 6.4-Magnitude Earthquake
NewsMax (February
11, 2008) - A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck the southern Pacific
coast of Mexico today, prompting the national oil company to shut down its
largest refinery. There were no reports of injuries or major damage. The
earthquake hit at 6:50 a.m. local time, 40 miles (60 kilometers) northwest
of the town of Tonala, Chiapas, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its Web
site. Tonala is located between the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. The temblor
was 72 miles deep. State oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos said it shut down
its Salina Cruz refinery to assess potential damage. The refinery's 26 plants
can process 290,000 barrels of crude daily and supply the entire Pacific
coast, according to the Petroleos Mexicanos Web site. The earthquake ``was
pretty strong,'' Luis Manuel Garcia Moreno, the state's deputy secretary
of civil protection, said in a telephone interview from Tuxtla Gutierrez,
Chiapas. ``So far, we have had no reports of material damages or wounded.''
The quake was the strongest of the 40 in Chiapas this year, said Garcia
Moreno. It followed a 5.1-magnitude quake that shook a remote area in Baja
California yesterday and a 5.4-magnitude temblor in the same state last
week that left 400,000 people without power and shut down factories, according
to the Associated Press. Today's quake was centered about 390 miles southeast
of Mexico City, along the Pacific coast below Acapulco. The shock was felt
in the capital as well as in the states of Tabasco, Veracruz, Puebla and
the State of Mexico, Mexico City-based Grupo Televisa SA reported.

Magnitude-4.9 Hits Baja California NewsMax
(February 11, 2008) - A magnitude-4.9 earthquake
rocked the northern Baja California region of Mexico near the U.S. border
on Monday, just days after the region was hit by a magnitude-5.4 temblor,
authorities said. Monday's quake, which occurred around 10:30 a.m. PST,
was centered about 20 miles southeast of the border town of Mexicali at
a depth of nearly 4 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The
epicenter was 23 miles south-southeast of the U.S. city of Calexico. The
magnitude was revised down from an initial magnitude of 5.1. There were
no immediate reports of damage or injuries on the U.S. side, according to
the Imperial County Sheriff's Department and Calexico police. The quake
was felt in California in parts of San Diego, Imperial and Orange counties
and as far away as Yuma, Ariz., about 50 miles from Calexico, according
to the USGS. Late Friday, the Mexicali area was shaken by a magnitude-5.4
quake that shut down factories and knocked out electricity for 400,000 people.
The latest temblor was likely an aftershock of the magnitude-5.4 event last
week, said Julie Martinez, a geophysicist at the National Earthquake Information
Center in Golden, Colo. A swarm of smaller quakes, ranging from magnitudes
2.5 to 2.9, preceded Monday's temblor. At least five aftershocks were recorded
including one registering a magnitude-3.6, the USGS said.
Revising Israel's History With Google Earth
WorldNet Daily (February 11, 2008)
- An Israeli town is suing Internet giant Google after surprised municipal
officials discovered Google Earth, the popular, user-driven satellite map,
labels their city as stolen Palestinian land. "The label is simply
complete nonsense," Yossi Ben-Artzi, a history professor at Israel's
Haifa University told Yediot Ahronot, Israel's leading daily. "Kiryat
Yam was built on sand dunes, and there wasn't any Palestinian village in
the area. The lands were bought in 1939 by the Gav Yam construction company."
The professor was responding to a criminal complaint filed by the northern
Israeli coastal town of Kiryat Yam, which a Google Earth user mapped as
stolen by Jews when Israel was founded in 1948. About 600,000 Arabs fled
Israel after surrounding Arab countries warned they would destroy the Jewish
state in 1948. Some Arabs also were driven out by Jewish forces while they
were trying to push back invading Arab armies. At the same time, over 800,000
Jews were expelled or left Arab countries under threat after Israel was
founded. The Google Earth user, identified as Palestinian physician Thameen
Darby, inserted a note on the map saying Kiryat Yam was built in 1948 at
the location of a former Arab town called Ghawarina. Ghawarina, though,
is widely thought to be about 10 miles south of Kiryat Yat, in an Arab village
currently named Jisr el-Zarka. "This is one of the Palestinian localities
evacuated and destroyed after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war," Darby posted
above Kiryat Yam. Darby's claim is strange since Kiryat Yam was founded
in the 1930s and not in 1948, when he claims Jews expelled Arabs from the
site. An official Google response e-mailed to WND explained Google Earth
is user driven: "Content reflects what people contribute, not what
Google believes to be true. ... While we recognize that some may find the
user-generated content objectionable, we are careful to balance the integrity
of an open forum with the legal requirements of local governments. If an
overlay does not breach our Terms and Conditions and is not in any way illegal,
it is our policy not to remove it." A Google spokesman told the Associated
Press Darby's posting on the map doesn't violate Google policy and that
the Palestinian label would not be removed. This is not the first time Google
Earth drew controversy alleging pro-Palestinian bias. WND reported last
year while Jerusalem serves as Israel's capital, and the Temple Mount is
located within Israeli sovereignty, Google Earth divides the city and places
the Mount – Judaism's holiest site – within Palestinian territory. Interactive
Google Earth maps still mark eastern sections of Jerusalem and the Temple
Mount as "occupied territory," set to become part of a future
Palestinian state. The United Nations considers eastern sections of Jerusalem,
recaptured by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War, to be "disputed"
and not "occupied." The Israeli Knesset officially annexed the
entire city of Jerusalem as its capital in 1980. "Google Earth is reinforcing
lies," Rabbi Chaim Richman, director of the international department
at Israel's Temple Institute, told WND. "The Muslims have engaged in
a systemic campaign to re-write history and erase any traces of Judaism
from the Temple Mount in total disregard to all actual archeological and
historic evidence," he continued. "Now Google Earth has given
in to this campaign." Jerusalem first was divided into eastern and
western sections when Jordan invaded and occupied the city and the Temple
Mount area in 1947, expelling all Jewish inhabitants. Israel originally
built its capital in the western part of the city, while the eastern quarters
remained under Jordanian control until Israel regained them in 1967.

Small town thanks God for response Disaster
News Network (February 11, 2008) -
Ed Broyles, a self-proclaimed worry wart who previously stressed over all
the small stuff, said he now has a new perspective on life. Broyles and
his family were inside their home in Gassville last Tuesday when the house
was broadsided by a tornado. The structure looked like it had been dumped
into a mammoth blender, spun until it was shredded into a million tiny pieces,
then poured out onto its concrete slab. All that was left standing was the
bathroom vanity and the kitchen table holding a pitcher of just-made ice
tea. However, the entire family all walked away without a scratch. And although
Broyles, a military contractor who was home on leave from Iraq, had no insurance
on the home or on its contents, he said he knows everything will be alright
because he still has his family. “This really opened my eyes. Nothing else
matters to me anymore,” he said. “God’s hand was all over this town. There’s
no other explanation. Look at these homes and listen to the people’s stories.
. . What’s even more incredible is all the help that’s arrived! There are
hundreds of total strangers here helping us clean up or bringing us food.
There is no other explanation for it. This is God’s handiwork,” Broyles
said emphatically. A volunteer with the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster
Relief organization who asked not to be identified said hearing those kinds
of stories from the residents was refreshing. “We’re here to help because
that’s what we’re supposed to be doing. But it’s really great when God gets
the glory for it,” he said. Broyles is just one of close to 200 Gassville
residents whose homes were destroyed or severely damaged in the series of
tornadoes that began in Arkansas, and then continued on through the south.
Cynthia Ferguson and her husband Shane, next-door neighbors to Broyles,
also witnessed what they called “a miracle.” Right before the tornado hit,
the couple had been watching television with their son and two children
Cynthia was babysitting when they looked out the front window and saw their
trees bending in half. Shane grabbed the kids and ran to the bathroom while
Cynthia raced down the hall to retrieve her two napping daughters. But just
like a scene from the movie “Poltergeist,” when she got to the door, it
slammed in her face. “I had to throw my body against it to get it to open.
Then I screamed for the girls to run. My 6-year-old ran tore past me but
when I looked over at my 4-year-old I saw her little legs running but she
was lifted up off the ground – her feet weren’t touching the floor – and
she was getting sucked backwards. I grabbed her hand and yanked her out
of the room and just as I did, the windows blew out of the house and the
door slammed shut again,” she said. They made it to the bathroom, where
they safely rode out the storm. And while their house sustained much damage,
no one was injured. “I don’t think we’ll ever forget this,” Cynthia said,
adding that she too was amazed and overwhelmed by the amount of help that
had shown up without being asked. “We are so grateful – for everything.”
All up and down the streets, the scene was the same. more... God never leaves us or forsakes us. I'm so glad to read stories of faith in the lives of those in devastation and the selfless love shown by those who have stepped up to help their neighbors. I was also encouraged by the faith placed on God's provision by Ed Broyles. I have experienced that in my life several times as well. Times are going to get more difficult for everyone soon, trust in the Lord. Matthew 6:24-26
World markets lose $5.2trillion Reuters
(February 11, 2008) - Fears of a global slowdown
triggered by US housing market woes wiped $5.2 trillion (£2.7 trillion)
off global stock markets in January, say analysts. According to ratings
firm Standard and Poor's, 50 out of 52 share indexes around the world ended
the month lower. Politicians also are concerned about the spiralling US
financial problems. On Sunday, finance ministers from the G7 group of industrialised
nations said losses from the US mortgage crisis could reach $400bn. The
US Federal Reserve has previously estimated losses of up to $150bn after
a surge in the number defaults on sub-prime loans. Sub-prime loans are made
to people with poor or non-existent credit histories. Over the next two
weeks banks are expected to report further write-offs of bad debt as the
banking reporting season kicks off. One of the major problems facing policymakers
and analysts is that new losses linked to sub-prime problems keep emerging. "The
only thing we know is that it is big and we keep on discovering new dimensions,"
Italy's central bank governor Mario Draghi said after the G7 meeting. "House
prices keep falling (in the US) and subprime and mortgage sectors stay vulnerable."
Uncertainty over the financial repercussions of the sub-prime crisis was
reflected in stock market falls in January, according to Standard and Poor's
figures. Just under half of the major markets lost more than 10% of their
value. In London, the main FTSE 100 index lost almost 9% in January and
16.5% in the past three months. In Paris, the stock market fell 12.3% in
January and was down 15.3% in the three months from November. The falls
wiped out all of the index's gains for the previous 12 months. Emerging
markets were hit even harder. China lost 21.4% in January, while Russia
and India both fell 16%.
EU foreign policy plan may not deliver strong voice
Reuters (February
11, 2008) - A minister from a major Asian state visiting Brussels
last month said he planned to meet the "Prime Minister of Europe".
Of course he could not recall the person's name -- the post does not exist.
The remark shows how the European Union still struggles to find its voice
in the world, decades after U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's famous
question in the 1970s: "Who do I call if I want to call Europe?"
The bloc now numbers 27 states and its stature has grown but it plays second
fiddle to the United States in many parts of the world -- notably in Middle
East diplomacy -- and its power to act remains hobbled by complex internal
red tape. It was to revamp a system described as "verging on dysfunctional"
by British diplomat and former EU External Relations director-general Brian
Crowe that foreign policy was included in an EU reform treaty due to take
effect in January. EU member states broadly agree that they can exert more
influence in a globalised world collectively. But with those same states
anxious to protect national interests, it remains to be seen how far-reaching
the reforms will prove. Who will fill a new role of foreign policy supremo,
how that person interacts with a planned new EU president, and how the diplomatic
support will function have all still to be resolved. The reform will create
a powerful high representative for foreign affairs -- combining the role
of an existing EU foreign policy coordinator with that of the European Commissioner
in charge of the EU's multi-billion euro aid budget. That person will be
supported by an EU diplomatic corps of some 3,000-4,000, drawn from staff
from Brussels, 130 EU delegations worldwide, and the diplomatic services
of EU states. "It's hugely important, because all our challenges are
now external," said Katinka Barysch deputy director of the London-based
Centre for European Reform (CER) think tank. "You have climate change,
terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, energy security
and how to deal with China and Russia." A key question is whether the
new EU president evolves as a largely ceremonial role or one with real influence.
Britain's former prime Minister Tony Blair has made no secret of his desire
for the job, but Missiroli said he would be "very intrusive" in
the foreign policy field. EU diplomats and politicians believe Blair has
little chance, as Britain is too disconnected from the EU mainstream, and
he is discredited in Europe by his support for the Iraq war. The smart money
is on Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker. A master consensus-builder,
he would steal less limelight, but would not accept a purely ceremonial
role. Long a favourite as high representative is Swedish Foreign Minister
Carl Bildt, a former prime minister with extensive diplomatic experience.
However, some consider him too outspoken. "The rumour gaining
ground is that the best personality for the high representative at the beginning
is Solana himself -- to have a an old and safe pair of hands, at least
for one year or two, it would be better to keep him in place,"
said Missiroli. more...
Brown's secret talks on 'new world order' New
Zealand Herald (January 22, 2008) -
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has begun secret talks with other world
leaders on far-reaching reform of the United Nations Security Council as
part of a drive to create a "new world order" and "global
society". Brown is drawing up plans to expand the number of permanent
members in a move that will provoke fears in his country that the veto enjoyed
by Britain could be diluted eventually. The United States, France, Russia
and China also have a veto but the number of members could be doubled to
include India, Germany, Japan, Brazil and one or two African nations. Brown
has discussed a shake-up of a structure created in 1945 to reflect the world's
new challenges and power bases during his four-day trip to China and India.
British sources revealed "intense discussions" on UN reform were
under way and Brown raised it whenever he met another world leader. The
Prime Minister believes the UN is punching below its weight. In 2003, it
failed to agree on a fresh resolution giving explicit approval for military
action in Iraq. US President George W. Bush then acted unilaterally, winning
the support of then British Prime Minister Tony Blair. His aides are adamant
that the British veto will not be negotiated away. One option is for the
nations who join not to have a veto, at least initially. In a speech in
New Delhi, the Prime Minister was to say: "I support India's bid for
a permanent place - with others - on an expanded UN Security Council."
However, he is not backing Pakistan's demand for a seat if India wins one.
Brown will unveil a proposal for the UN to spend £100 million ($257 million)
a year on setting up a "rapid reaction force" to stop "failed
states" sliding back into chaos after a peace deal has been reached. "There
is limited value in military action to end fighting if law and order does
not follow," he will say. "So we must do more to ensure rapid
reconstruction on the ground once conflicts are over and combine traditional
humanitarian aid and peace-keeping with stabilisation, recovery and development."
