DEBKAfile reports:
Shock in Jerusalem over crude insult to Israel’s leaders from Russia’s Vladimir
Putin (October 25, 2006) - In a televised
phone-in Wednesday, Oct. 25, Putin offered the view that the sex scandal
surrounding President Katzav and the corruption charges against PM Olmert
were provoked by “Israel’s actions in the Lebanon.” He added: “Many see
the events as defeat. That immediately triggered attacks against the president,
the prime minister and the chief of staff.” Putin’s words are seen as a
gratuitous and unprecedented affront to Israeli leaders and a breach of
normal courtesies between governments. During a joint Kremlin appearance
with Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert two weeks ago, the Russian president
was caught on microphone coarsely commenting: “Say hello to your president
– he really surprised us.” Later he claimed he thought the microphones had
been switched off. But reporters quoted him as adding a further off-color
comment: "We did not know he knew how to deal with 10 women.” The Russian
president’s follow-up remarks Wednesday, Oct. 25, suggest his earlier comments
were meant to be heard. They also reflect negative fallout from the Putin-Olmert
talks in Moscow. DEBKAfile’s Moscow sources report that the Russian
president felt Olmert had misrepresented the outcome of their Kremlin talks
when he informed his cabinet that they had reached complete understanding
on the Iranian nuclear question and agreement to coordinate security aspects.
But Putin became angry when the Israeli prime minister contradicted a statement
by Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov to the Kuwaiti news agency on
Oct. 20. Referring to the Iranian nuclear issue, Lavrov said Russia would
oppose any attempts to penalize Iran through the UN Security Council or
take the nuclear program as a pretext to topple the Iranian regime. On Oct.
22, Olmert, challenged by his ministers about the Lavrov interview, replied:
“I heard quite different things from Putin.” The Russian president has now
made it clear that he will not put up with contradictions of his positions
or those of his foreign minister by the Israeli prime minister or anyone
else. This shows the reality of Russian relations with Israel. Is it any surprise that Russia will be part of the prophesied attack against Israel?
Spain: Mideast 'Roadmap' Not Working (October
24, 2006) - One of Europe's foremost voices on the Middle East said
Tuesday the "road map" for peace between Israel and the Palestinians
is doomed, and that a major new initiative is needed to resolve the conflict.
Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos told a parliamentary panel
that Europe has a historic opportunity to take the lead in pushing for fresh
talks, and hinted that it was too late to revive the U.S.-backed blueprint
for peace known as the "road map." He said Europe must lead the
effort to push both sides back to the table, working in conjunction with
the United States. "Everyone agrees that sooner or later there will
be a peace conference," he said. "I can say that the government
is discussing and sharing ideas and proposals, even with the United States,
in reference to paths for the future of the region." The road map,
launched in 2003, envisioned a Palestinian state alongside Israel but stalled
almost from the outset because neither side met their initial commitments.
Relations between the Israelis and Palestinians soured further following
the election of a Hamas-led Palestinian government earlier this year. Hamas
has refused to rescind its call for Israel's destruction. "It is
necessary that this diplomatic initiative be led by the European Union,
not with small, gradual steps, but with a major initiative that has great
scope," said Moratinos, a former EU envoy to the Middle East who
is considered to have excellent contacts throughout the region. This plays right into what Herb Peters has said recently. With America wrapped up in Iraq, Europe now has the opportunity to step into the Middle East political scene with they're own brand of peace-dealing. Expect Javier Solana to become prominent in that endeavor and even pull it off soon. This plays right into Bible prophecy and will eventually allow for the rebuilding of the Jewish temple. Solana Set for Tough Talks with Israeli and Palestinian Leaders
(October 24, 2006) - European Union foreign
and security policy chief Javier Solana heads for the Middle East on Wednesday
in a renewed bid to revive long-stalled Israeli-Palestinian talks. EU diplomats
said Solana was braced for difficult discussions in both Israel and the
Palestinian territories but insisted that the 25- nation bloc was determined
to try and bring Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table.
'The Middle East situation is difficult but we have to keep our presence
in the region and step up the pressure for peace,' an EU diplomat told Deutsche
Presse-Agentur dpa. Solana is also scheduled to meet with Lebanese Prime
Minister Fouad Seniora before heading for Jordan and Egypt. The EU chief
diplomat faces an uphill struggle in his bid for peace in the region. Prospects
for a revival of Middle East peace talks look bleaker than ever following
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's addition of the ultra-conservative
party Israel Beitenu (Israel Our Home) party of former Soviet immigrant
Avigdor Lieberman to the country's ruling coalition. An EU diplomat, speaking
on condition of anonymity, described the composition of the ruling Israeli
coalition as 'very worrying', saying it would make any peace talks with
Palestinians even more difficult. Solana's meeting with Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas also looks set to be fraught given continuing in-fighting
between Fatah and the militant Hamas group. The 25-nation bloc is still
hoping that Abbas will be able to forge a government of national unity including
Fatah and Hamas representatives, a move which could allow a resumption of
blocked EU aid to Palestinians. 'The EU does not want the Palestinian Authority
to fail or collapse but to transform,' said the EU diplomat. The EU and
the US cut off all direct aid to the Palestinian government following the
election victory earlier this year of Hamas. The group is classified as
a terrorist organization by both Brussels and Washington. However, the EU
is currently channelling badly-needed humanitarian assistance to Gaza and
the West Bank and also paying allowances to Palestinian health workers.
EU officials say aid to the Palestinian Authority will resume once Hamas
recognizes Israel, renounces violence and agrees to abide by past peace
treaties. In Lebanon, Solana will voice support for Premier Seniora and
also meet Nabih Berri, the leader of the Lebanese Shiite group Amal and
a key Hezbollah ally. I don't expect it will take him too long to work it out. I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming seven-year period of his ENPI (European Neighborhood Policy Instrument) It starts January 1, 2007 and even has a mid-term review in 2010, 3 1/2 years later. Syria paying Golan Heights public officials (October
23, 2006) - Syrian President Bashar Assad, who recently began directing
his citizens to move to the Golan Heights, now is paying scores of Golan
residents official state salaries, WND has learned. Israeli officials interpret
Assad's latest moves as attempting to underscore Syria's "ownership"
of the Heights and pressure the Jewish state into giving up the strategic
territory. The officials said there are some indications Assad may stage
a provocation aimed at restarting negotiations with Israel over relinquishing
the Heights. The Golan Heights is mountainous territory captured by the
Jewish state after Syria used the terrain to attack Israel in 1967 and again
in 1973. The Heights looks down on major Israeli and Syrian population centers.
It borders Israel, Syria and Lebanon and is claimed by Damascus. Military
officials say returning the Golan Heights to Syria would grant Damascus
the ability to mount an effective ground invasion of the Jewish state. WND
first reported last month Assad issued a decree urging his citizens to move
to the Golan Heights, claiming the International Committee of the Red Cross
would help flood the territory with Syrians. Assad's decree urged Syrian
officials, humanitarian workers, public service providers and their families
to move to the Golan with the help of the Red Cross, which has authority
to operate in the area purportedly to facilitate civilian crossings into
and out of Syria in humanitarian cases. Assad's signed statement said Syrians
who wish to move to the Golan will be granted approval by "all the
relevant authorities." The decree affirmed the "right of the Syrian
people's resistance" aimed at ensuring the return of the Golan Heights.
Israel officially annexed the Golan in 1981 and controls the territory.
It must approve all cases of Syrian residents moving to the Golan. Israel
is unlikely to allow any new Syrian residents into the territory. "[Assad's]
decree is seen more as rhetoric aimed at generating Syrian national feelings
toward the Golan and strengthening Syrian ties to the area," said an
official in Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office. more... Data's Head - The following is excerpted from the upcoming book “Dark Mission – Book One: The Secret History of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration” by Richard C. Hoagland and Michael Bara. The book will be published by Feral House Books (www.feralhouse.com) It covers the discovery from a photograph of the moon's surface of a head shape in the crater of the moon. See the photograph and some enhancements. more... Along the same lines as the Cydonia Mars pyramids, this may show the presence of intelligent presence outside of earth. These intelligent beings are not aliens in the Hollywood sense, but rather angelic beings. There are good and bad angels as repeated many times in the Bible. The Bible even talks about fallen angels coming to earth and mating with earth women producing Nephilim. The Biblical precedent is there, and you can read more about that on the Cydonia Mars link above. We are biased, admit the stars of BBC News (October 21, 2006) - It was the day that a host of BBC executives and star presenters admitted what critics have been telling them for years: the BBC is dominated by trendy, Left-leaning liberals who are biased against Christianity and in favour of multiculturalism. A leaked account of an 'impartiality summit' called by BBC chairman Michael Grade, is certain to lead to a new row about the BBC and its reporting on key issues, especially concerning Muslims and the war on terror. It reveals that executives would let the Bible be thrown into a dustbin on a TV comedy show, but not the Koran, and that they would broadcast an interview with Osama Bin Laden if given the opportunity. Further, it discloses that the BBC's 'diversity tsar', wants Muslim women newsreaders to be allowed to wear veils when on air. At the secret meeting in London last month, which was hosted by veteran broadcaster Sue Lawley, BBC executives admitted the corporation is dominated by homosexuals and people from ethnic minorities, deliberately promotes multiculturalism, is anti-American, anti-countryside and more sensitive to the feelings of Muslims than Christians. One veteran BBC executive said: 'There was widespread acknowledgement that we may have gone too far in the direction of political correctness. 'Unfortunately, much of it is so deeply embedded in the BBC's culture, that it is very hard to change it.' more... Well at least it isn't assumed anymore, now they've said it outright. Of course, by their fruits we know them, but it's always nice to see your thoughts weren't completely unjustified.
Europe's Unsolicited Advice (October 26, 2006)
- You have got to hand it to Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign
policy chief. He may be no friend of Israel, but he certainly can keep a
straight face while saying the most ridiculous of things. And so it was
that at a meeting today with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Solana
repeated the mantra that the Europeans have been reciting ad nauseum in
recent years: Israel must abide by the so-called road map to peace. Now,
Solana is no fool. He reads the newspapers. He surely knows that in the
intervening years since the adoption of the road map, a few things have
changed here in the Middle East. Israel withdrew unilaterally from Gush
Katif and received terror in return, Hamas has come to power in the Palestinian
Authority, and Israeli Cpl. Gilad Shalit remains in captivity somewhere
in Gaza. So for Solana to declare that Israel must nonetheless fulfill its
obligations under the road map only underlines once again just how unjust,
and downright absurd, the European position on the Middle East truly is.
Because essentially what Europe is saying to Israel is: we don't care if
the Palestinians keep trying to kill you, just shut up and retreat. Sorry,
Javier, but the days when Europe can force Jews to flee are over. This land
belongs to us, and we have no intention of leaving – so start getting used
to it. Or, better yet, take your unsolicited advice elsewhere. more... Brings a song to mind... "I see your true colors shining through..." He's not standing with Israel, that's for sure.
Why Johnny is Reading Islamist Propaganda (October
26, 2006) - Islam is being taught in the nation's public schools
as a religion to be embraced because "organized Islamists have gained
control of textbook content," according to an organization that analyzes
textbooks.
The
American Textbook Council has concluded that the situation is the consequence
of "the interplay of determined Islamic political activists, textbook
editors, and multiculturally minded social studies curriculum planners."
It has gone so far that correcting the situation now becomes a problem,
because "educational publishers and educational organizations have
bought into claims propounded by Islamists – and have themselves become
agents of misinformation." That comes from Gilbert T. Sewall, who not
only wrote the organization's report on Islam and textbooks, but also generated
a response to the flood of criticism he encountered. William J. Bennetta,
author of The Textbook Letter and a fellow of the California Academy of
Sciences, also has documented dozens of instances of advocacy for or against
a belief system, and has produced a list of books where the "religion
preaching" leaves them "unfit for use." Indeed, Middle East
Forum director Daniel Pipes even has repeatedly expressed concern about
the "privileging of Islam in the United States" and warns the
stakes go well beyond 7th-grade texts. His opinion of Houghton Mifflin's "Across
the Centuries? Full of "apologetics" and "distortions."
WND
recently reported on a case in Oregon, where parent Kendalee Garner
objected to having her son being taught Islam, including the memorization
of the "Five Pillars" of Islam and dressing up as a Muslim. That
episode followed a U.S. Supreme Court decision just a few weeks ago not
to review a lower court's ruling that a similar class requirement in the
Byron Union School District in California, where students were instructed
to "become Muslims" was "cultural education."
more... If we don't put a stop to this now, our children will become as brainwashed as the Muslim children are. Islam is a religion of death and it is evident by their fruits. At one point in history, Catholicism was a religion of death and is responsible for killing millions of Christians. Don't listen to what they claim, look at their fruits. God does not bring death. Christ already died to save us from the second death, eternal death separated from God's love. Once they pollute the minds of the children, it only goes downhill from there. Liberalism has already done a bang-up job destroying our culture, Islam will finish it off.
Turks can live without EU (October 25, 2006)
- Less than a third of Turks think Turkey must enter the European Union,
a poll showed on Tuesday, the latest sign of waning support for membership
as Ankara faces increasing pressure from Brussels. The survey, carried out
by pollsters A&G and published in newspaper Milliyet, showed 32,2 percent
thought Turkey "must certainly enter the EU", a sharp decline
on 2005's 57,4 percent and 67,5 percent in 2004. Of 2 408 people polled,
25,6 percent said Turkey "should certainly not enter the EU",
more than twice the 10,3 percent who felt that way in 2005, when Turkey
began entry talks. more... Turkey is one of the key players in the Gog/Magog attack against Israel. That they are distancing themselves from the EU and sticking to their Muslim roots is very telling. It plays right into Bible prophecy using radical Islam to attack Israel, then using the EU's Western powers to appear to be on their side and lull them into a false peace that will end with the abomination of desolation.
Earthquake with Preliminary Magnitude of 6.8 Strikes off Coast of Japan
(October 23, 2006) - An earthquake with a
preliminary magnitude of 6.8 rattled a group of Japanese islands in the
Pacific Ocean south of Tokyo early Tuesday, Japan's weather agency said.
No tsunami warning was issued. The quake struck at about 6:18 a.m. (2318
GMT) and was centered near the Ogasawara island group, about 483 miles south
of Tokyo, the Meteorological Agency said. The quake was extremely shallow,
said agency official Toshiyuki Suzuki. There were no immediate reports of
injuries or damage from the quake, he added. Japan sits atop four tectonic
plates and is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world.
Your DNA is a Song: Scientists Use Music to Code Proteins
(October 21, 2006) - What are proteins? How
are they structured? What's the difference between a protein in a human
and the same protein in a lizard? Ask Mary Anne Clark these questions and
she is likely to respond with an earful of music. Clark is a biologist at
Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, and she's part of a growing field
of science educators who use so-called protein music to help illustrate
the basic structure of the building blocks of life. All living things are
made up of proteins. Each protein is a string of amino acids. There are
20 different amino acids, and each protein can consist of dozens to thousands
of them. Scientists write down these amino acid sequences as series of text
letters. Clark and her colleagues assign musical notes to the different
values of the amino acids in each sequence. The result is music in the form
of "protein songs." By listening to the songs, scientists and
students alike can hear the structure of a protein. And when the songs of
the same protein from different species are played together, their similarities
and differences are apparent to the ear. "It's an illustration transferred
into a medium people will find more accessible than just [text] sequences,"
Clark said. "If you look at protein sequences, if you just read those
as they are written down, recorded in a database, it's hard to get a sense
for the pattern." more...
Documents Reveal 'Shadow Government' (October
24, 2006) - About 1,000 documents obtained in a Freedom of Information
Act request to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America
show the White House is engaging in collaborative relations with Mexico
and Canada outside the U.S. Constitution, says
WND columnist and author Jerome Corsi. "The documents give clear
evidence that the Bush administration has created a 'shadow government,'"
Corsi said. The documents can be viewed
here,
on a special website set up by the
Minuteman Project.
Bureaucrats from agencies throughout the Bush administration are meeting
regularly with their counterpart bureaucrats in the Canadian and Mexican
governments to engage in a broad rewriting of U.S. administrative law and
regulations into a new trilateral North American configuration, Corsi contends. "We
have hundreds of pages of e-mails from U.S. executive branch administrators
who are copying the e-mail to somewhere between 25 to 100 people, a third
of whom are in the U.S. bureaucracy, a third of whom are in the Mexican
bureaucracy and a third of whom are in the Canadian bureaucracy," said
Corsi. "They are sharing their laws and regulations so we can 'harmonize'
and 'integrate' our laws into a North American structure, not a USA structure."
Corsi claims the process is well along the way. "This is totally outside
the U.S. Constitution, virtually an executive branch coup d'etat,"
he said. "SPP is creating new trilateral memoranda of understanding
and mutual agreements which should be submitted to Senate for two-thirds
votes as international treaties." Corsi said the documentation he received
is missing key pieces. "We received very few actual agreements, though
many are referenced," he said. "Many of the work plans described
lack the work products which the groups say they produced." |
