DEBKAfile Exclusive: New Syria-Iranian defense treaty opens way for
Iran's Revolutionary Guards to deploy on Israel’s Golan border by summer’s
end (June 19, 2006) - Iranian defense
minister Gen. Mustafa Najjar said: “Syria’s security is part of Iran’s security,”
when he signed a new military treaty with his visiting Syrian counterpart,
Gen. Hassan Turkmani (picture) in Tehran last Thursday June 15. Sunday,
June 18, Israel’s parliamentary foreign affairs and defense committee inspected
its northern border, along with the deputy chief of staff Moshe Kaplinsky
and OC Northern command Udi Adam. Both Tehran and Damascus referred to the
tour as Israel’s response to their new treaty. DEBKAfile’s military
sources add: At the signing ceremony, the Syrian official waved away reporters’
questions on whether Iran would be establishing a military base in Syria
– “The language of a (foreign) military base in our country is alien to
us. I want to say that it is not on the agenda.” Nonetheless, military sources
note that he rejected the term “bases” - but did not rule out “foreign forces”
in Syrian bases, which Persian Gulf and Pakistani military sources are certain
was agreed secretly between the two countries. They have learned that Iran
has offered to deploy Revolutionary Guards on the Golan border with Israel
by the end of summer, because as Najjar said at the signing: “We have a
common front against Israel’s threats.” more... This really isn’t too surprising, Russia is planning a naval base in Syria. Iran, Russia, and Syria are clearly allied together. By their association to Iran in the face of anti-Semitic statements of the destruction of Israel clearly places them in the same camp. Russia is also becoming a Muslim state. They’re stated goal is a Muslim world, should we expect anything less from their efforts?
The Strong Chinese-Hamas Intelligence Connection
(June 19, 2006) - A Chinese intelligence officer
is engaged in covertly aiding the ruling Palestinian Hamas terrorist group,
according to a Paris-based intelligence newsletter picked up by the Washington
Post’s Bill Gertz and Rowan Scarborough on June 19. They identify Gong
Xiaosheng as a Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) official who has
worked out of Ramallah since Nov. 2002, first with Yasser Arafat and latterly
helping Hamas. It was Gong who arrianged for Mahmoud al-Zahar to be invited
to Beijing shortly after his appointment as Hamas foreign minister. The
report says Gong is a strategic agent “trained in Division 8 of the ministry
and also at the China Institution of Contemporary Relatons (CICIR), an MSS
think tank. Its Middle East section is headed by Jin Ruikun, a specialist
in Palestine and Jordan, and Chen Shuanqing, a specialist on Israeli-Palestinian
relations and Israel’s Likud party. DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources
add: The Chinese “strategic agent” was so close to Yasser Arafat that he
was among the handful of aides and terrorist chiefs confined with him in
two rooms of of the residential apartment of the Palestinian leader’s Ramallah
headquarters when it was stormed and besieged by Israeli forces in April
and May 2002. more... There is a clear alliance forming between China, Russia, Iran, Syria, and Islam. To deny it is to ignore all the news. Look into who the players in the Gog/Magog invasion are here. In short, they are: Russia, Central Asia, Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Libya, and other Islamic nations.
DEBKAfile Exclusive: Olmert secretly allows American delivery of
1,000 M16 rifles to be delivered to Abu Mazen’s Force 17, while admitting
to only 200 (June 18, 2006) - Israel’s
top military and security chiefs are up in arms against prime minister Ehud
Olmert and defense minister Amir Peretz after discovering the far-from-token
scope of the arms delivery the ministers allowed to reach Abu Mazen’s private
army. Before the prime minister left for Europe and during his trip, he
stated that 200 automatic rifles had been transferred to Mahmoud Abbas for
the use of his private army. He assured Israeli security chiefs that “not
a single extra gun” would be permitted. Now they have discovered that, under
the table, 1,000 guns and 3 million bullets were delivered to Abbas’ “presidential
guard”, Force 17 (a veteran terrorist arm of Fatah with a long history of
hundreds of attacks against Israelis.) more... I can’t believe they’re doing this! I’d be willing to bet that these weapons are going to end up being used against Israel. When Islam becomes united under the 12th Mahdi, they won’t use these weapons against each other. They will go after Israel, united in hatred. I believe there will be a fake peace first that allows Israel to rebuild the temple, but it will end like prophecy says, 2/3 of Israel being killed. (Zechariah 13:8,9)
EU ignores constitution vote to launch anti-terror squad
(June 18, 2006) - European leaders were accused
of “cherry picking” from the moribund European Union constitution last night
after agreeing to create a pan-European counter-terrorism force. At the
Brussels European summit, all 25 member states agreed to pool assets - police,
civil protection and military - and place them at the disposal of Javier
Solana, the EU’s foreign minister-in-waiting. Such a move had been planned
in the constitution which was rejected by voters in France and Holland last
year. The constitution has been left on the shelf although Europe’s leaders
want it up and running again by 2008. Minutes of the summit show that the
kernel of the counter-terrorism force, the “crisis steering group”, will
be operational in a fortnight. The EU presidency, currently held by Austria,
has drawn up a “manual” of forces and assets which can be called on following
an attack in any country. more...
Peres: Peace at hand (June 18, 2006) -
Israel and the Palestinians are closer to peace than ever, Shimon Peres
said. “The distance between us is that shortest it has been for the last
50 years,” Israel’s vice premier said Saturday at a Central Asian security
conference in Kazakhstan. “The distance is very short, but the speed is
very slow.” Peres appeared to be referring to an anticipated summit next
month between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority
President Mahmoud Abbas, which could sap support for the new Hamas government
in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Peres argued that, rather than work for
a peace deal immediately, Israel and the Palestinians should first improve
economic cooperation as a mechanism for rapprochement.
Bush 'super-state' documents sought (June 20,
2006) - Author Jerome Corsi filed a Freedom of Information Act request
yesterday asking for full disclosure of the activities of an office implementing
a trilateral agreement with Mexico and Canada that apparently could lead
to a North American union, despite having no authorization from Congress.
As
WorldNetDaily reported, the White House has established working groups,
under the North American Free Trade Agreement office in the Department of
Commerce, to implement the
Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP, signed by President Bush,
Mexican President Vicente Fox and then-Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin
in Waco, Texas, March 23, 2005. Corsi specifically has requested the partnership's
membership lists, constitutive documents, meeting minutes, meeting agendas
and meeting schedules as well as all findings, reports, presentations or
memoranda. He also wants all comments to representatives of the “Prosperity
Working Groups” or other working groups, committees or task forces associated
with the partnership along with internal and external interagency or intra-agency
memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, agreements, initiatives and
budgeting documents. Corsi believes President Bush effectively agreed to
erase U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada when he signed the SPP.

Researchers Say New Chip Breaks Speed Record
(June 20, 2006) - Researchers at I.B.M. and the Georgia Institute
of Technology are set to announce today that they have broken the speed
record for silicon-based chips with a semiconductor that operates 250 times
faster than chips commonly used today. The achievement is a major step in
the evolution of computer semiconductor technology that could eventually
lead to faster networks and more powerful electronics at lower prices, said
Bernard Meyerson, vice president and chief technologist in I.B.M.’s systems
and technology group. He said developments like this one typically found
their way into commercial products in 12 to 24 months. The researchers,
using a cryogenic test station, achieved the speed milestone by “freezing”
the chip to 451 degrees below zero Fahrenheit, using liquid helium. That
temperature, normally found only in outer space, is just nine degrees above
absolute zero, or the temperature at which all movement is thought to cease.
At 500 gigahertz, the technology is 250 times faster than chips in today’s
cellphones, which operate at 2 gigahertz. At room temperature, the chips
operate at 350 gigahertz, far faster than other chips in commercial use
today. more...
Jews and Muslims Seek to Bridge the Gap at Moscow Forum
(June 20, 2006) - Jews and Muslims pledged
to fight religious intolerance at a forum held in Moscow under the aegis
of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) this week. Senior clerics, diplomats,
scholars and theologians discussed measures to bridge the gap between the
two world religions, the Lenta.Ru news website reports. The forum entitled
“Islam and Judaism: the road to dialogue and cooperation”, organized by
the EAJC and the Council of Mufits of Russia received backing of Patokh
Chodiev, chairman of the global foundation “For Democracy”, and entrepreneur
Alijan Ibragimov. The event was attended by a delegation of Iranian lawmakers,
headed by the leader of Iran’s Jewish community and deputy of the Iranian
parliament Morris Motamed, the EAJC said in a statement. Other attendees
included chairman of the Russian Council of Muftis Ravil Gainutdin, chief
rabbi of Russia Adolf Shayevich, representatives of Muslim and Jewish communities,
government officials, diplomats and scholars from the former Soviet republics.

Hamas, Fatah Moving Closer to Deal on Implicitly Recognizing Israel
(June 19, 2006) - The ruling Hamas and rival
Fatah factions were moving closer to an agreement on implicitly recognizing
Israel, negotiators said Sunday in a sign that international pressure on
the new Palestinian government could be yielding results. The two groups
are discussing a document that calls for a Palestinian state alongside Israel,
implying recognition of the Jewish state. Going along with the plan would
force the militant Islamic Hamas to change or gloss over its main principles
- such as violently opposing a Jewish state in the Middle East. But negotiators
said crucial issues remained unresolved, making an agreement far from certain.
One official, who was serving as a mediator, said Hamas is desperate to
reach an agreement with Fatah as a way of lifting the international aid
boycott that has bankrupted the Hamas-led government and left public workers
unpaid since March. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because
the talks were still in progress. A Hamas leader in an Israeli prison said
agreement could be reached in the coming days. A possible face-saving formula
could be a vague reference to “just Arab solutions,” which could be interpreted
as a nod toward an Arab League plan that offered Israel peace in exchange
for a full withdrawal from the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem, and resolution
of the issue of Palestinian refugees. It was unclear whether such a formula
would satisfy the U.S. and Europe, which demand a clear commitment from
the Hamas-led government to renounce violence, recognize Israel and accept
peace accords signed by Palestinians before Hamas took over the government.
Hamas, which has killed hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings, is considered
a terrorist organization by the United States and European Union, which
have cut off aid. more...
Iran would ‘use nuclear defense’ (June 16, 2006)
- Iran’s defense minister on Thursday vowed that his country would “use
nuclear defense as a potential” if “threatened by any power.” Speaking following
a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Hassan Ali Turkmani in Teheran on
Thursday, Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar emphasized that
Iran “should be ready for confronting all kinds of threats.” Teheran has
denied accusations by the US and its allies that Iran was seeking uranium
enrichment technologies in order to develop nuclear weapons, saying its
program was only meant to generate electricity. Meanwhile, Turkmani told
reporters that Syria and Iran’s “policy is the policy of strengthening resistance
and tackling the threats of United States and Israel.” He added that he
wouldn’t give details of joint defense plans against Israel, although the
plans were “not secret.” more... Wait! I thought Iran wasn’t going to build nuclear weapons. How can you ‘use nuclear defense’ if you don’t have nuclear weapons? If they’re vowing to use it, then they must be making them. I guess we can trust that they won’t... yeah.
Iran Seeks Aid in Asia In Resisting the West
(June 16, 2006) - Overshadowing a regional summit, Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suggested Thursday that China, Russia and neighboring
Central Asian nations should help Iran resist growing pressure from the
United States and Europe to limit its nuclear development program. The appeal,
in a speech to leaders of the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organization,
seemed aimed in particular at China and Russia. The two nations, permanent
members of the U.N. Security Council, have been reluctant to endorse the
threat of U.N. sanctions and other steps being pushed by the Bush administration
to persuade Iran to stop enriching uranium and submit its nuclear program
to international controls. more...
Iran, Syria Sign Defense Agreement (June 16,
2006) - Defense ministers from close allies Iran and Syria on Thursday
signed an agreement for military cooperation against what they called the
“common threats” presented by Israel and the United States. In a joint press
conference, Iranian Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar and visiting
Syrian counterpart Hassan Turkmani said their talks had been aimed at consolidating
their defense efforts and strengthening support for one another. “Our cooperation
is based on a strategic pact and unity against common threats. We can have
a common front against Israel’s threats,” Turkmani told reporters after
two intensive rounds of talks with Najjar. “Our cooperation with the Iranians
against Israeli threats is nothing secret and we regularly consult about
this with our friends,” he said. Before the press conference, Iran’s defense
ministry said the two sides “stressed strengthening mutual ties and the
necessity to preserve peace and stability in the region.” The defense ministry
statement also said they discussed “ridding the region of weapons of mass
destruction,” in an apparent reference to the widely held belief that Israel
possesses nuclear warheads. more... And the players keep lining up. Russia is building a navy port in Syria too. China, Russia, and Iran are all in kahoots with each other as evidenced by all the news coming out about it. There is clearly an axis forming aligned against Israel and the US. Europe panders to the powerful, so they’ll be siding with Iran and Russia too. This is in Bible prophecy. I believe that the false prophet of Revelation 13:11-18 will be the 12th Mahdi from Iran when he appears. (Iran’s constitution already has a Mahdi clause that gives him control of Iran when he comes back) This false prophet will be very powerful and will point to the first beast to be worshipped. The first beast of Revelation 13:1-10 will be the political leader coming out of Europe. I believe his position was formed by EU Recommendation number 666, which you can read more about the creation of that position in the EU government from Herb Peters free online e-book, Recommendation 666.
NRA warns of U.N. gun control (June 16, 2006)
- An American delegation will participate in a controversial United Nations
small-arms conference criticized by Second Amendment advocates as a threat
to U.S. gun ownership. The
U.N. Small Arms Review Conference will meet in New York City June 26
to July 7 to discuss illegal trafficking in arms, “ineffective national
controls” and related issues. The U.N.’s disarmament effort features a program
in which it buys back weapons in nations torn by civil strife. But National
Rifle Association Vice President Wayne LaPierre insists the U.N. is concerned
about more than illicit arms in African hot spots. He says the global body
wants the firearms of American citizens – and much more. “So, after we are
disarmed, the U.N. wants us demobilized and reintegrated,” says the NRA’s
executive vice president, Wayne LaPierre, according to the Economist magazine.
“I can hear it now: ‘Step right this way for your reprogramming, sir. Once
we confiscate your guns, we can demobilize your aggressive instincts and
reintegrate you into civil society.’ No thanks.” more...
Unarmed civilians make way for easy domination. That’s one of the principles behind the second amendment, the right to bear arms. I believe in the principle and the right passed down by those that created this nation. Ultimately, the world will be dominated by one man who controls the masses that worship him. The Bible talks of those who refuse to reject Christ and are beheaded for not worshipping the beast. It’s a lot harder to enforce something that not all people may agree with if they’re all armed. The Bible also says that this man will be so powerful that none will be able to make war with him. The best way to become powerful is to have a lot of supporters and make sure that those who don’t support you can’t fight back. That is why I put this story under these headings. I believe it is one of many things pointing to the slow integration of the US into the one-world government that is being formed. If you read the America page, you’ll notice the North American Union initial deal has already been signed by Canada, US, and Mexico. It’s only a matter of time.
Israel, Egypt, Jordan On Alert For Al-Qaida Attack
(June 15, 2006) - Egypt, Jordan and Israel
are on high alert for possible large-scale attacks by al-Qaida members in
response to last week’s killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the global terror
group’s leader in Iraq, security sources said. The sources said Egyptian,
Jordanian and Palestinian Arab intelligence officials have held several
meetings the past few days to share information and coordinate anti-terror
measures in light of the new threats. Israel has beefed up border security
for fear al-Qaida could try to penetrate from neighboring territories or
attack along the border. There is also information the Popular Resistance
Committees, a Gaza-based terror group, is looking to carry out an attack
inside Israel to avenge Zarqawi’s death and the assassination on the same
day of its own leader, Jamal Abu Samhadana. Zarqawi was killed when two
500-pound American bombs blasted his hideout northeast of Baghdad. His declared
replacement, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, this week threatened regional violence
and vowed in an Internet message to “defeat the crusaders and Shiites” in
Iraq. According to some reports, which were confirmed to WND by Israeli
security sources, Jordanian intelligence officers operating in Iraq provided
important information that led to the assassination of Zarqawi.

Germany Wants Mandate to Revive EU Constitution, Official Says
(June 15, 2006) - Germany will seek a mandate
to revive a constitution for the European Union during its presidency in
the first half of next year, a federal government official said today. EU
heads of state and government will probably give Chancellor Angela Merkel
the go-ahead in a statement to be approved by the group after a two-day
summit that starts tomorrow, said the official, speaking on condition of
anonymity. Leaders of countries where the charter has been rejected in referendums,
such as France and the Netherlands, may argue over the wording of the statement
with leaders who’ve already pushed the plan through national parliaments,
such as Germany, the official said. The deadlock over the constitution casts
doubt on the 25- nation EU’s ability to let in countries of former Yugoslavia
that are seeking political stability and economic prosperity through membership.
The impasse also clouds the entry prospects for Turkey, which has started
membership talks that may last a decade or more. more...
Iran’s Place at Summit Raises Fears of Anti-West Alliance
(June 15, 2006) - Iran’s hard-line president,
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, arrived in China last night for a summit of Asian states
and Russia that Washington fears is forming a new anti-western alliance.
Mr Ahmadinejad will seek support for his country’s nuclear programme, fuelling
US concern that Iran is being protected by its growing friendship with Russia
and China, who both sit on the UN Security Council. He is also believed
to be pushing to join the Shanghai Co-operation Organization, which is holding
its annual summit in the city today and tomorrow. The SCO, under the leadership
of China and Russia, is playing an ever-greater role in the jostling for
power in Central Asia. The dictatorial nature of some of its membership,
which also includes the former Soviet republics of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, has provoked descriptions of it as an anti-American
alliance of despots. more...
Olmert Says West Bank Plan Unstoppable (June
15, 2006) - Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Wednesday that plans
to set Israel’s borders unilaterally were irreversible, but he still hoped
to negotiate a border deal with Palestinians. Olmert is visiting France
and Britain to promote his “realignment plan” under which dozens of Jewish
settlements in the West Bank would be removed and others annexed behind
a fortified border on land the Palestinians say is theirs. “The realignment
plan is unstoppable. It is unpreventable. It will be implemented,” Olmert
told reporters after his first meeting with French President Jacques Chirac.
“I hope it can be carried out within the framework of talks, but it will
be carried out with or without talks,” he said of the plan that would see
Israel take chunks of land where Palestinians want a state. Britain and
France have stressed the need for a negotiated deal rather than a unilateral
move and French officials quoted Chirac as telling Olmert that this was
“an absolute priority”. more...
PA Leader Threatened, Calls off Kassams - 4 More Are Fired
(June 15, 2006) - Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal called
on the government to resign in light of its failure to protect the city’s
residents. Visiting MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) decried the fact that
while Sderot residents are suffering the consequences of the last withdrawal,
“Olmert is abroad, declaring that the next withdrawal is a fait accompli.”
An Arutz Sheva English TV crew was in Sderot filming a live shoot of the
hunger strikers demanding security for their city, two Kassam rockets exploded
nearby within seconds of each other. Click below to watch the reaction of
the hunger strikers, visiting MKs, and some other residents to the rocket
explosions. The children seen jumping up to embrace their mother are heard
shouting “Ima, Ima” (Mommy, mommy); at the 15-second mark, a second Kassam
can be heard exploding further away, and the children cry out, “Ima, od
echad!” (Mommy, another one!). more...

Russia Goes Its Own Way in Selling Arms (June
20, 2006) - Missiles to Syria and Iran, warplanes to Venezuela and
Myanmar, helicopters to Sudan -- Russia goes its own way when it comes to
selling arms, seemingly immune to ethical debates that affect the industry
elsewhere. While European Union members argue over whether to lift a weapons
ban against China, almost half of Russia’s $6 billion arms sales last year
went to Beijing. As the White House struggles to persuade Congress to approve
a U.S.-India nuclear deal that some lawmakers fear could spark an arms race,
Moscow is completing two atomic plants for New Delhi. Russia’s arms industry
is one of the few national manufacturers that can compete with Western firms
on equal terms, and it is a both a source of prestige and key to Moscow’s
drive to gain new markets for its exports. “Let’s have no illusions: if
we stop sending arms to export, then someone else will do it,” Sergei Chemezov,
head of state arms export monopoly Rosoboronexport, said in a rare interview
with Itogi business magazine last year. “The trade in weapons is too profitable
for the world to refrain from it. Happily, Russia has understood this. The
period of democratic romanticism has changed into a period of business pragmatism,”
said Chemezov, a close friend of President Vladimir Putin since they served
together in the KGB. more... Look at who they’re selling these arms to. These are probably the same weapons that will be used for the Gog/Magog invasion or other future battles.
National ID Card a Future Job Requirement? (June
20, 2006) - The job application of the future may require showing
would-be bosses a new ID card proving prospective employees are who they
say they are. As Congress debates sweeping immigration and border security
reforms, some lawmakers and policy experts say no new system will work without
such tamper-proof credentials. Otherwise, immigrants still could come to
the United States illegally and use fake documents to get jobs, possibly
undermining reforms designed to encourage legal immigration. How lawmakers
deal with verifying workers’ identities could determine whether immigration
reform succeeds or fails. Experts agree the prospect of finding work in
the United States is the lure for more than 500,000 undocumented immigrants
who come here every year. But critics are concerned about privacy issues
with an ID card system, adding to worries that the government would be too
involved in job applications under any new immigration system. The House
and the Senate have passed competing versions of reform legislation, and
both bills would require employers to check whether workers are legally
eligible for U.S. jobs. Neither bill would create a new ID document for
all workers - the Senate bill calls for ID cards for foreign guest workers,
and the House bill would have employers check applicants’ Social Security
numbers against a federal database. But revisions are expected during negotiations
over how to reconcile the two bills. Negotiations have not yet begun, but
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., says a “secure, tamper-proof” ID card is an essential
part of reform that he will push for during House-Senate meetings.
more... I don’t believe this is the mark of the beast, but it’s certainly the same kind of idea. There’s just one more step (to improve security of course) and that is to use technology to implant an RFID tag under the skin that would ID the user. Since it’s internal, theft isn’t an issue anymore. I can see many people accepting this because it is easier. The actual mark of the beast (Revelation 13:16-18), in my opinion, will be more than a mark, but it will be a pledge of allegiance to the one it represents, the beast. However, I find it interesting that the technology is already here and being used by some. I believe the RFID chip will be the technology that the beast uses to implement the mark such that nobody can buy or sell without it. This way, it’s left up to the individual to make a choice, either accept the beast and take the mark, or condemn yourself to a life outside the system where you can’t shop anymore for food, clothing, etc. These that choose not to take the mark will be looked down upon with distain and suspicion. Indeed, even today many people look on those raising the alarm about this with distain. They fail to realize that the “harmless system” is not all-knowing, but subject to the control of whoever is the most powerful. This attitude toward those who refuse to participate will be used to justify the imprisonment and eventually murder of these “terrorists” that refuse to be a part of society and the accompanying beast worship. So this may not be “it,” but it is certainly the beginning. If nothing else, it prepares the collective minds of the world to at least consider it now while it is harmless so that when it isn't harmless we will already be programmed somewhat. A testing of the waters, but it will come.
North American Union Would Trump U.S. Supreme Court
(June 20, 2006) - The Bush Administration
is pushing to create a North American Union out of the work on-going in
the Department of Commerce under the
Security and Prosperity Partnership
of North America in the NAFTA office headed by Geri Word. A key part
of the plan is to expand the NAFTA tribunals into a North American Union
court system that would have supremacy over all U.S. law, even over the
U.S. Supreme Court, in any matter related to the trilateral political and
economic integration of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Right now,
Chapter 11 of the NAFTA agreement allows a private NAFTA foreign investor
to sue the U.S. government if the investor believes a state or federal law
damages the investor’s NAFTA business. Under Chapter 11, NAFTA establishes
a tribunal that conducts a behind closed-doors “trial” to decide the case
according to the legal principals established by either the World Bank’s
International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes or the UN’s
Commission for International Trade Law. If the decision is adverse to the
U.S., the NAFTA tribunal can impose its decision as final, trumping U.S.
law, even as decided by the U.S. Supreme Court. U.S. laws can be effectively
overturned and the NAFTA Chapter 11 tribunal can impose millions or billions
of dollars in fines on the U.S. government, to be paid ultimately by the
U.S. taxpayer. more...
Mixing Animal, Human Cells Gets Exotic (June
19, 2006) - On the sun-splashed Caribbean island of St. Kitts, Yale
University researchers are injecting millions of human brain cells into
the heads of monkeys afflicted with Parkinson’s disease. In China, there
are 29 goats running around on a farm with human cells coursing through
their organs, a result of scientists dropping human blood cells into goat
embryos. The mixing of humans and animals in the name of medicine has been
going on for decades. People are walking around with pig valves in their
hearts and scientists have routinely injected human cells into lab mice
to mimic diseases. But the research is becoming increasingly exotic as scientists
work with the brains of mice, monkeys and other mammals and begin fiddling
with the hot-button issue of cloning. Harvard University researchers are
attempting to clone human embryonic cells in rabbit eggs. Such work has
triggered protests from social conservatives and others who fear the blurring
of species lines, invoking the image of the chimera of Greek mythology,
a monstrous mix of lion, goat and serpent. During his State of the Union
speech in January, President Bush called for a ban on “human cloning in
all its forms” and “human-animal hybrids,” labeling it one of the “most
egregious abuses of medical research.” He didn’t elaborate, but scientists
working in the field believe that by “hybrids,” the president meant creating
living animals with human traits - something they say they aren’t doing.

Korea Threatens to ‘Wipe Out’ US Forces in Case of War (June 19, 2006) - North Korea threatened to “mercilessly wipe out” US forces in case of war during a national meeting to mark leader Kim Jong-Il’s 42 years’ work at the ruling party, according to a ruling party report carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The threat came as North Korea was reportedly preparing to test-fire a long-range missile despite strong protests from the United States and its allies. Choe Thae Bok, a ranking Workers Party official, said Washington is “hell-bent on provocations of war of aggression” in the report to mark the 42nd anniversary of Kim’s start at the party, KCNA said. “If the enemies ignite a war eventually, the Korean army and people will mercilessly wipe out the aggressors and give vent to the deep-rooted grudge of the nation,” Choe was quoted as telling the meeting. North Koreans are customarily advised to watch the televised event, according to Seoul officials who cautiously questioned a news report that had linked the notice to a possible missile launch. Japanese and South Korean media said North Korea is planning a missile test for this weekend. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying the missile launch could take place either Sunday or Monday. But as of today, North Korea has not been confirmed yet to have fueled the missile at a launch pad in the remote northeast of the country, the final step before a test-firing, Agence France-Presse reported. more... Respected Cornell Geneticist Rejects Darwinism in his Recent Book (June 19, 2006) - In retrospect, I realize that I have wasted so much of my life arguing about things that don’t really matter. It is my sincere hope that this book can actually address something that really does matter. The issue of who we are, where we came from, and where we are going seem to me to be of enormous importance. This is the real subject of this book... Modern Darwinism is built on what I will be calling “The Primary Axiom”. The Primary Axiom is that man is merely the product of random mutations plus natural selection. Within our society’s academia, the Primary Axiom is universally taught, and almost universally accepted. It is the constantly mouthed mantra, repeated endlessly on every college campus. It is very difficult to find any professor on any college campus who would even consider (or should I say - dare) to question the Primary Axiom.... Late in my career, I did something which for a Cornell professor would seem unthinkable. I began to question the Primary Axiom. I did this with great fear and trepidation. By doing this, I knew I would be at odds with the most “sacred cow” of modern academia. Among other things, it might even result in my expulsion from the academic world. Although I had achieved considerable success and notoriety within my own particular specialty (applied genetics), it would mean I would have to be stepping out of the safety of my own little niche. I would have to begin to explore some very big things, including aspects of theoretical genetics which I had always accepted by faith alone. I felt compelled to do all this - but I must confess I fully expected to simply hit a brick wall. To my own amazement, I gradually realized that the seemingly “great and unassailable fortress” which has been built up around the primary axiom is really a house of cards. The Primary Axiom is actually an extremely vulnerable theory - in fact it is essentially indefensible. Its apparent invincibility derives mostly from bluster, smoke, and mirrors. A large part of what keeps the Axiom standing is an almost mystical faith, which the true-believers have in the omnipotence of natural selection. Furthermore, I began to see that this deep-seated faith in natural selection was typically coupled with a degree of ideological commitment - which can only be described as religious. I started to realize (again with trepidation) that I might be offending a lot of people’s religion! more...
New Moves on the Tripolar Chessboard (June 16,
2006) - For months, the US press and policymaking elite have portrayed
the crisis with Iran as a two-sided struggle between Washington and Tehran,
with the European powers as well as Russia and China playing supporting
roles. It is certainly true that US President George W Bush and Iranian
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad are the leading protagonists in this drama,
with each making inflammatory statements about the other to whip up public
support at home. But an informed reading of recent international diplomacy
surrounding the Iranian crisis suggests that another equally fierce - and
undoubtedly more important - struggle is also taking place: a tripolar contest
among the United States, Russia and China for domination of the greater
Persian Gulf/Caspian Sea region and its mammoth energy reserves.

Earthquake Activity Increases In Alaska, California
(June 16, 2006) - Alaska and California normally
experience many minor earthquakes, but activity for the past few days has
been running higher than normal. Geologists are not certain what the higher
numbers of small quakes mean, but they continue to closely monitor the situation.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center (AEIC) reports that, on Wednesday,
June 14, 2006, at 4:18 am UTC (June 13, 8:18 pm ADT) a strong magnitude
6.4 earthquake occurred in the Rat Islands region of the Aleutian Islands.
The AEIC’s report on the earthquake states: “The mainshock (M6.4) was situated
87 kilometers (54 miles) southeast of Buldir Island. The epicenter was located
at 51.86N and 176.92E at shallow depth. This earthquake is the largest to
occur in this region since the magnitude 6.8 event on June 14, 2005. ...
The AEIC located over a hundred aftershocks of the M6.4 event within the
first two days of the sequence. The largest aftershock of magnitude 5.9
occurred 30 minutes after the main shock. “The June 14, 2006 earthquake
occurred near the margin of the rupture zone of the M7.7 earthquake of November
17, 2003. The M7.7 event ruptured the boundary between the subducting Pacific
and overriding North American plates (approximate extent of the rupture
zone is shown by the black line). This region, where the two plates are
being forced directly into one another, is one of the world's most active
seismic zones. Over one hundred earthquakes of magnitude seven or larger
have occurred along this boundary in the past hundred years. more...

Iran President Arrives in China for Nuclear Summit
(June 15, 2006) - Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad arrived in Shanghai Wednesday, renewing the focus on the role
China may play in resolving the standoff over the Islamic republic’s nuclear
program. In a suggestion that China was concerned the Iran issue would overshadow
everything else at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, officials
seemed eager not to play up expectations. “I don’t believe having discussion
or not having discussion of the Iran nuclear issue is the determinant of
the relevance of this conference,” foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao
told a briefing in Shanghai. Ahmadinejad is only a guest at Thursday’s summit
of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which groups China, Russia, and
four Central Asian states. Iran is an observer nation along with Pakistan,
India and Mongolia. more...
Scientists Warn of Immense Solar Storm Threat
(May 4, 2006) - As the world scrambles to prepare for hurricanes
and earthquakes of unprecedented strength, some scientists say the sun poses
an equal threat, with predictions calling for a 2012 sun storm of immense
proportions. If the idea of a solar storm sounds too much like the stuff
of sci-fi, consider this: a single large solar flare has a million times
more energy than the largest earthquake, according to SPACE.com. The vast
space between the Earth and the Sun is filled with electrically-charged
particles, radiation, magnetic fields, and electromagnetic energy that could
play havoc with Earth in the event of elevated solar output. The last great
solar super storm was 145 years ago. But, this event provides little context
given our very recently-adopted dependence on satellite-based technologies.

Personally, I think that a directed sun flare along with a weakened magnetic field will be the fulfillment of the fourth bowl of God's wrath described in Revelation 16:8,9 - “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.” |
