News for August 6, 2005Unholy Alliance: Jihadists, Nazis (August 05, 2005) - Neo-Nazi skinheads are working with radical Islamists in a growing unholy alliance that has European law enforcement officials concerned about a new front in the war on terrorism, reports Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin, the premium, online intelligence newsletter published by the founder of WND. Sources in the UK, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Italy, Switzerland and in the Middle East are warning that the world should not be surprised to see young, white males involved in terrorism and in league with Osama bin Laden. Just a few years ago, Muslims represented one of the biggest harassment targets of neo-Nazi skinheads in Europe. But anti-Muslim hate crimes by skinheads have seen a dramatic drop-off – even as their movement takes on more visibility and bigger numbers. “In business they ignore the race,” said an Italian official. Law enforcement officials fear skinheads and neo-Nazis could provide not just additional numbers to the Islamic terrorist cause but also some operatives who would defy profiling efforts. Skinheads can easily cover their tattoos and wear respectable clothing to deceive police and immigration authorities, say police officials. An Italian police expert on gang activities said it is known skinheads travel as far as Australia, South Africa and the Indian sub-continent “at times looking like the boy next door or a student on vacation.” He also revealed Italian agents are aware of a number of meetings between gang leaders, radical Islamic students and organized crime bosses. The chilling possibility that Muslim terrorists and neo-Nazis may combine forces was raised as a distinct possibility by Israel's president last month. more... Walid Shoebat: “Why I Left Jihad” (August 05, 2005) - No doubt the most dangerous threat to civilization in all history is the Islamic jihad movement, especially with nuclear and other WMDs in their hands, reportedly already. They are blood-crazed, hate-filled, demon-possessed souls who only want to kill Jews and Westerners. Tragically, they are brainwashed with historical revisionism and false hopes of heaven with 72 virgins if they kill non-Muslims. Today I heard an ex-PLO, ex-Muslim terrorist interviewed on television. He is Walid Shoebat, who was interviewed on Sid Roth's television program. His new book is titled, “Why I Left Jihad.” This is a powerful message and inside look at the lies of Islam, much of which has been accepted in the West due to political correctness. Born in Bethlehem of Judea, Walid’s grandfather was the Muslim Mukhtar (chieftain) of Beit Sahour-Bethlehem (The Shepherd's Fields) and a friend of Haj-Ameen Al-Husseni, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and notorious friend of Adolf Hitler. Walid’s great grandfather, Abdullah Ali Awad-Allah, was also a fighter and close associate of both Abdul Qader and Haj Amin Al-Husseini, who led the Palestinians against Israel. Walid lived through and witnessed Israel’s Six Day War while living in Jericho. more... Ice shelf collapse biggest for 10,000 years (August 05, 2005) - The disintegration of the huge Larsen B ice shelf in Antarctica was an unprecedented event in the past 10,000 years of geological history, a study has found. Research by scientists from Hamilton College in New York, based on the scrutiny of six ice cores from the vicinity of the ice shelf, found that a collapse of this size had not happened during the period since the end of the last Ice Age. The piece of ice which sheered away from Larsen B into the sea in 2002 was roughly the size of Luxembourg. The study, published in the journal Nature, shows that the ice shelf had been thinning over the millennia but went through a more rapid loss in recent decades, probably due to global warming. more... Socialist Public Schools or Home schooling? (July 28, 2005) - I have very little hope for this nation. The bulk of the populace is still clueless as to the Executive Orders, Acts, and partnership bureaucracy system that have turned our Constitutional Republic into a new banana republic. The ongoing ignorance of the masses is beyond all comprehension and reason. The Southwestern U.S and the West Coast have become a foreign and illegal nation. Every Constitutional right is under perpetrated and highly orchestrated attack, and still the masses watch TV, sports, drink beer, and do and say nothing. Most don’t even know that anything has changed. And why is that? Because public education has changed American people into silent, sacrilegious, non-reading, pleasure-seeking, group-thinking morons – that’s why. I remember reading a study about 30 years ago on the educational effects of computers coupled with television. The study concluded that the TV-computer combo, and the over stimulation of visual senses, was detrimental to reading and writing skills. Gee, do ya think?? However, the public school system was to be the saving grace. Pour more money into the public schools, incorporate computer technology into classrooms, and American schools could guarantee the best public education in the world. And for the past 30+ years, American schools have choked on their promises to deliver. more... U.S. Presbyterian Church Targets Five Companies with Israel Links (August 06, 2005) - The move Friday follows a vote last year by leaders of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to put economic pressure on companies that profit from Israeli policy in the West Bank and Gaza. The group named heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar, communications giant Motorola, military contractor United Technologies, and electronics manufacturer ITT Industries - all of which are firms who have been contracted to supply the Israel Defense Forces. The Church also listed international banking conglomerate Citigroup, which was cited in April by The Wall Street Journal for “having moved substantial funds from charities later seen to be fronts funneling money to terrorist organizations,” including “funds [which] ended up as payments to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers.” “We have chosen these companies because we believe that they can make changes that will increase the possibilities for a just peace in the region,” said Carol Hylkema, who heads a Church subcommittee spearheading divestiture from companies with links to Israel. more... ‘Jesus’ film screeners murdered (August 06, 2005) - Two Christian men showing the “Jesus” film were killed in Faridpur, Bangladesh. Lipial Marandi, 21, and Tapan Kumar Roy, 27, were employed with Christian Life Bangladesh, a partner agency of Campus Crusade for Christ, the American-based evangelistic group. Amid strong outrage voiced at their July 29 murders, Bengali Christians are planning a rally in support of their families. The two men had spent the last eight months providing health awareness programs to locals and showing the “Jesus” film. The two-hour docudrama about the life of Christ, based on the Gospel of Luke, has been seen in every country of the world and translated into hundreds of languages. The men had received threats that they would be killed if they continued their work, and local police say they were sleeping when intruders entered their rented house at 2 a.m. and stabbed them to death. Police have arrested two men in connection with the killings. more... Church wrangle over Darwin (August 06, 2005) - The Vatican’s astronomer has rebuffed a cardinal’s attack on Darwinism, causing a new war of words in the Catholic Church over evolution. In the article Finding Design in Nature in last month’s New York Times, Cardinal Christoph Shonborn reignited the row between the Church and science by denying Darwin’s theory of evolution was compatible with Christian faith. He wrote: “Evolution in the sense of common ancestry might be true, but evolution in the neo-Darwinian sense - an unguided, unplanned process of random variation and natural selection - is not.” This week Father George Coyne, an American Jesuit priest and a distinguished astronomy professor, attacked Shonborn’s views in the Tablet, Britain’s Catholic weekly. Shonborn, the Archbishop of Vienna, is a long-standing associate of Pope Benedict XVI, who it is thought would have backed his views. Those views have provoked alarm among scientists and liberal Catholics around the world who thought Catholicism had come to terms with evolution, and who now see the spectre of creationism rising in the Church as it has risen among fundamentalist Christians in the United States. This week, President George W. Bush said the theory of “intelligent design” - a version of creationism, which disputes the idea that natural selection alone can explain the complexity of life - should be taught in US schools alongside evolutionary theory. more... The destruction of Mecca: Saudi hardliners are wiping out their own heritage (August 06, 2005) - Historic Mecca, the cradle of Islam, is being buried in an unprecedented onslaught by religious zealots. Almost all of the rich and multi-layered history of the holy city is gone. The Washington-based Gulf Institute estimates that 95 per cent of millennium-old buildings have been demolished in the past two decades. Now the actual birthplace of the Prophet Mohamed is facing the bulldozers, with the connivance of Saudi religious authorities whose hardline interpretation of Islam is compelling them to wipe out their own heritage. It is the same oil-rich orthodoxy that pumped money into the Taliban as they prepared to detonate the Bamiyan buddhas in 2000. And the same doctrine - violently opposed to all forms of idolatry - that this week decreed that the Saudis' own king be buried in an unmarked desert grave. A Saudi architect, Sami Angawi, who is an acknowledged specialist on the region’s Islamic architecture, told The Independent that the final farewell to Mecca is imminent: “What we are witnessing are the last days of Mecca and Medina.” more... IDF troops kill gunman trying to plant bomb in Gaza settlement (August 06, 2005) - The Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed a Palestinian gunman attempting to plant explosives near the settlement of Ganei Tal in the southern Gaza Strip late Friday night. Soldiers noticed three Palestinians crawling near the security fence surrounding the Gush Katif settlement bloc. The IDF forces opened fire on them and killed one gunman. No IDF soldiers were reported wounded in the incident. U.S. ally in Mauritania overthrown by coup (August 06, 2005) - Mauritania has been rocked by a military coup in a move that could undermine the U.S.-led campaign against Al Qaida in North Africa. Rebel troops have overthrown the regime of President Maaoya Sid Ahmed Taya, an ally of the United States. On Wednesday, presidential guard troops seized the national radio station and captured the headquarters of the military chief of staff in a brief gunbattle. During the coup, Taya was at the funeral of Saudi King Fahd in Riyad, Middle East Newsline reported. Later, Taha arrived in Niger to plan a comeback. more... Israeli Archaeologist Believes She Found King David’s Palace (August 05, 2005) - According to a report in the NY Times, Israeli Archaeologist, Eilat Mazar, says she has found foundational walls that she believes belong to King David’s palace. Scholars who have toured the site are skeptical; however they do acknowledge that her find is rare and important. The excavation uncovered a 10th century major public building, pottery shards dating back to King David and Soloman’s time and a government seal that links to an official mentioned in the book of Jeremiah. Gabriel Barkay, renowned archaeologist from Bar-Ilan University said, “This is a very significant discovery, given that Jerusalem as the capital of the united kingdom is very much unknown. Very carefully we can say that this is one of the first greetings we have from the Jerusalem of David and Solomon, a period which has played a kind of hide-and-seek with archaeologists for the last century.” more... |
