Episode 11: Man of Sin: False Christ

"…the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority." | Revelation 13:2b

Synopsis

He goes by many names, the man of sin, the false christ, the beast, the 7/8th head, the little horn, and most commonly, the antichrist. Daniel and John provide a lot of details about this character and his supporter, the false prophet. Many through history have also pointed to many people and places when trying to pin these names to reality, but when we dig into the details about the false prophet and false christ, what relevant information can we glean from scripture? The same Word has been there for thousands of years, what is there new to understand? There is nothing new under the sun, but as with all these studies if we take God at His Word and additionally think about the underlying purpose behind all these efforts of the Dragon, the complete destruction of mankind, I believe a very clear perspective comes into view.

This isn’t a new view, but the amount of supporting details that fit into this puzzle that is the last days bring such clarity to this possibility and yet also reveals why it is such a great deception that even Christians in name only may be pulled into it with the blinded Jews. While Israel is blind to Yeshua as their Messiah, the veil of Moses overshadowing their eyes of their hearts and minds, 2 Corinthians 3:12-18, they are not stupid. While they are largely secular as a nation today, the tradition of their fathers is chiseled into their hearts, embedded in their culture. The problem with Israel as a people today is not so much going after other gods, it’s believing there is a spiritual world at all, but there are no foxhole atheists and the pressures of the world against them and their enemies surrounding them is now and will continue to change them. This will especially be the case when their enemies are suddenly defeated, their history is validated beyond refutation, there are signs and wonders, and the world suddenly turns around to accept their new king in just the ways the Old Testament prophesied.

This is the same Old Testament of Israel, of the Christians, and that which Islam says was corrupted. Someone is going to appear to offer the proper interpretation with signs and powers and lying wonders to set the record straight for everyone. We’ve seen cults take parts of the Bible and twist them around, but the mystery of iniquity has been at this since it was first written, watching God’s plan to save His creation unfold and trying at every step to eliminate the chosen people through which that salvation would come, then the Messiah born from her, then His followers through history to today. Let’s not forget the Dragon does not need to destroy those who reject God, they are already doomed with him of their own free will and they make great pawns to influence and do his bidding. How great a deception to use their own faith system built from God’s Word, adjusted here and there in the traditions of men, to cause a great apostasy from the God of their fathers to one who comes in his own name. True, not everyone will accept him when he reveals his true intentions, but who he can’t convert to eternal separation from God, he can try to eliminate from his kingdom until there are none left

It’s time to examine the possibility that the false christ deception is not centered in Rome or Islam, but in an evil deception the mystery of iniquity has been hard at work building to play into desires of the God-fearing of Israel who are blinded to the Messiah yet desire His arrival so badly. What starts out as truly turning back to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, will be hijacked by the enemy of mankind and just as the unfaithful of Israel played the harlot in the Old Testament time and time again, the Dragon has a couple of pawns to whom will be given supernatural signs and wonders to deceive God’s people. And just as the unfaithful and zealous of Israel killed the faithful and prophets of Israel in Jerusalem, so will the harlot following their false christ and riding the Dragon become drunk on the blood of the faithful saints in their zealous support of their false messiah as they follow him to his ultimate end. This unparalleled tribulation will begin in the family of Jacob, the time of Jacob’s trouble, but mankind’s enemy desires the whole world.

My prayer is that the pawns of the accuser will not break through the strength of faith you have in knowing the Truth from God’s Word. Would that God’s people turn back to Him and have the veil removed and not be deceived, but that is not what is written and as much as it breaks my heart, I can’t imagine the sense of loss God must feel in their ultimate choices. But there are a remnant that will remain faithful and enter into God’s rest and protection in the wilderness where He will speak comfortably to her and provide for her in her wilderness tabernacles. And when she comes out of the wilderness she will enter into the Promised Land in the glory and splendor desired for millennia in the Messianic Kingdom inaugurated at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
