The First & Second AdamAdam wasn’t deceived. That doesn’t mean he didn’t disobey God and sin, but how does that relate to Christ being the second Adam? Romans 5:14 A couple of things could be said from these passages from the New Testament.
Romans 5:14 says Adam transgressed while 1 Timothy 2:14 says Eve was the transgressor because she was deceived. Adam was not deceived. From this we can deduce that the law that death would follow whoever ate of the tree applied literally to both and in that, all were born in sin after them, which came from their loins. However, Adam was the figure of Yeshua to come. That makes me believe that Adam ate the fruit out of love for Eve. I think he loved her so much that he didn’t want to live without her nor for her to suffer alone, and so ate of the fruit too. This is similar to how Christ sacrificed His mortal life so that we could be together just like Adam and Eve were together until their death. This symbology is seen in scripture relating directly to this. I believe they are part of the redeemed and so they are going to be together forever with God and us. Ephesians 5:22-30 This relationship between man and woman as shadows of Christ and the church was set up in Genesis. That relationship is a spiritual one, where men and women who obey Christ become one with Him as the body of Christ, the church. On a personal level, we see the principle laid out in our marriages between man and woman. There was a curse for the disobedience of Adam and Eve. However, the woman received a different curse than the man. Genesis 3:16 Perhaps this is behind why so many women remain in abusive relationships? While loving relationships may not see this as a negative, selfish relationships of abuse time and again show that even in these negative relationships women tend to remain connected to the man they chose to bond with. On the other side, man didn’t get by without a curse for his disobedience, but it was different. Genesis 3:17-19 This is in no way to elevate men. The point is that Adam was a shadow of Christ. Adam knew God better than any of us. He walked in the garden with Him for who knows how long exactly, long enough to name the animals, etc. I bring this up not to elevate any sex, in heaven we aren’t given into marriage and are the same. Matthew 22:30 | Mark 12:25 To be offended by this message is to show that one is living with a world mindset and not a spiritual one. We are all spirits created in the image of God. We live in temples of flesh here on earth that decay away, but our spirits are eternal. At the first resurrection, we will receive new immortal and incorruptible bodies, or temples, in which our spirits will dwell. I go into this more in Thought: Voice of the Spirit Realm. I just think this reveals the heart of Adam as a precursor to Christ, the second Adam (Yeshua) who came and gave His life to save the world. And that glorifies God! As we continue our lives living under the curse awaiting that blessed hope in the resurrection, we should keep this example of the heart of God and His selfless love for us in mind as we interact with other in the physical realm in which we live. Even more so living out this example of love between husband and wife, one for the other as an example to others and the evidence of things not seen, our spiritual alliance with the God of Love. |
