Ezekiel Prophesied the 1967 Recapture of Jerusalem

by Guy Cramer

A Professor of Mathematics emailed me the following:

You point to a paper proving that the creation of modern Israel was predicted “to the very day”.
Following the link we find the following amazing calculation from Grant Jeffrey:

Spring of 536BC = 536.4 BC
Add 2483.8 years = 1947.4 AD
Adjust for no 0 year = 1948.4 AD = May 15, 1948.

First problem: This converts “Spring” to “0.4” to “May 15”.
Calling that “to the very day” is a lie. You owe us an apology.

Second problem: Jeffrey doesn’t understand BC. If you add 2483.8 years to 536.4 BC you get 1949.2, not 1948.4. The reason is that 536.4BC is minus 536 plus 0.4, not minus 536 minus 0.4. Jeffrey apparently thinks years ran backwards in those days. So the arithmetic is rubbish.

From the text, we see that 2483.8 years is really supposed to be 907,200 days. Let us be extremely generous and say that “Spring 546BC” is actually “May 15, 536BC”. Adding 907,200 days gets us to exactly March 14, 1949. You can check for yourself at http://www.genealogy.org/~scottlee/calconvert.cgi.

A miss is as good as a mile, eh Guy?

Here’s my own modest prediction. One month from now you will neither have disproved my calculations nor removed Jeffrey’s paper from your site.

Prophecies of Israel’s Independence in 1948 and The Six Day War of 1967

By Guy Cramer

Lets hope that this Professor of Mathematics is better at math then he is a Prophet.

In his quest to jump on this glaring mistake he missed another mistake that solves the problem and gives us another fulfilled prophecy.

The Professor’s above calculations are correct, but he obviously missed something that many of us (including myself) have missed. The prophecy of 70 years:

“And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years” (Jeremiah 25:11)

The following was a prophecy and so the 360 day year time scale must also be used for the 70 year time span. 360 days x 70 years = 25,200 days. From Chuck Missler’s book “The Creator Beyond Time and Space”, (The Word for Today, 1996), p. 152 Footnote 53 For the purposes of prophetic calculations the Jews employ a 360 day calendar year. The period from the summer of 606 B.C., (the first siege) to the summer of 537 B.C. (the decree of Cyrus) is exactly 25, 200 days. This corresponds to 70 years of 360 days duration!

Grant Jeffrey could not have used this information because his calculation shows 70 years of 365 days. 606 B.C. - 536 B.C. and this is where the mistake has been made.

If it was the spring (Grant Jeffrey) or summer (Chuck Missler) of 606 B.C. at this time we do not know, so the exact day for the prophecy to begin also cannot be known.

The calculations for 907,200 days:

“This will be a sign to the house of Israel. Lie also on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it. According to the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity. For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel. And when you have completed them, lie again on your right side; then you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have laid on you a day for each year” (Ezekiel 4:3-6).

Each day represents one biblical year. 430 years (390 years plus another 40 years).

“And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins” (Leviticus 26:18; see also Leviticus 26:21, 23-24,27-28).

430 years - first 70 years = 360 years x 7 = 2,520 biblical years x 360 day = 907,200 days

If we work backwards from May 14, 1948 and using this information from both the 25,200 day (70 years) prophecy and the 907,200 days (2,520 years) prophecy, we find the following:

Servitude of the Nation:

Julian day number: 2432686
Gregorian calendar: 14 May 1948 AD (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 5 Iyyar 5708 (5708/9/5)

-907,200 days (Ezekiel 4:3-6)(Leviticus 26:18)

Julian day number: 1525486
Gregorian calendar: 15 July 0537 BC (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 15 Av 3224 (3224/12/15)

-25,200 days (Jeremiah 25:11)

Julian day number: 1500286
Gregorian calendar: 17 July 0606 BC (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 5 Av 3155 (3155/12/5)

The summer of 606 B.C.

Chuck Missler did not go any further in his book on the prophecy of modern day Israel. He only looked at the original 70 year prophecy.

Desolations of Jerusalem

While reviewing these calculations and background information, I noticed a similarity regarding the recapture of Jerusalem by Israel during the 6 Day War in 1967.

The time span from the rebirth of Israel as a nation in 1948 to the 6 Day War in 1967 is 19 years. The time from the loss of independence in 606 B.C. to the time of the loss of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. was also 19 years. Was the recapture of Jerusalem in 1967 also prophesied?

Israel lost its independence in 606 B.C. but Jerusalem was left intact with the Second temple. Again from Chuck Missler’s book “The Creator Beyond Time and Space” p. 152 Footnote 52. The “Servitude of the Nation” and the “Desolations of Jerusalem” are often confused by Bible commentators as synonyms. They are, in fact, two independent periods, largely overlapping, but both lasting seventy years. The “desolations of Jerusalem” began with the annihilation of the city of Jerusalem and the Solomon’s Temple in 587 B.C. According to Jeremiah it was punishment for not yielding to the “Servitude of the Nation” which began in 606 B.C., with the first siege of Nebuchandnezzar. See Jeremiah 27:6,8,11; 38:17-21. Cf. Jeremiah 29:10, Daniel 9:2

“In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.” (Daniel 9:2)

“Seventy weeks are determined For your people (Israel) and for your holy city (Jerusalem),” (Daniel 9:24)

Since two separate prophecies are talked about here can we apply the same calculations used for the “Servitude of the Nation” on the “Desolations of Jerusalem”? In Ezekiel 4:1-7 the prophecy is not only for the “Servitude of the Nation” but also for the “Desolations of Jerusalem.”

Recapture of Jerusalem by Israel

Julian day number: 2439649
Gregorian calendar: 7 June 1967 AD (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 28 Iyyar 5727 (5727/9/28)

-907,200 days (Ezekiel 4:1-7)(Leviticus 26:18)

Julian day number: 1532449
Gregorian calendar: 8 August 0518 BC (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 8 Elul 3243 (3243/13/8)

-25,200 days (Daniel 9:24)

Julian day number: 1507249
Gregorian calendar: 10 August 0587 BC (modern civil calendar)
Jewish calendar: 27 Av 3174 (3174/12/27)

Solomon’s temple was destroyed on 9-10 Av 3174 (23-24 July 0587 BC) see: Jeremiah 52:12-13. The rest of the city may have fallen a few weeks later.

In 1948 the Jews found themselves in a country fragmented. A few hours after the proclamation of Israel’s independence, the armies of Egypt, Jordon, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq with Saudi-Arabian contingents crossed the frontiers of the new state, determined to strangle it at birth.

After seven months of intermittent fighting, the Arab states signed armistice agreements with the Israeli government, which now occupied more territory than originally assigned to it by the United Nations.

May 17,1967 Nasser declared, “Egypt, with all its resources, human, economic, and military, is ready to plunge into a total war that will be the end of Israel”

Egyptian artillery was bombarding Jewish villages along the Gaza Strip when general fighting broke out on June 6. Israel tried to limit fighting by sending word to King Hussein that Israel would respect Jordan’s boundaries if she reciprocated. Hussein, however, had already pledged loyalty to Egypt and began shelling Israel.

The Arab legion was driven out of Jerusalem and from the entire west bank of of the Jordan, making the Jordan River the boundary between King Hussein’s territory and that now occupied by Israel.

At the end of the short war, Israel occupied territory formerly held by Egypt, including the Gaza Strip and the entire Sinai peninsula, the entire west bank of the Jordan, and the Golan Heights of Syria.

As we can see God has his hand with Israel and with Jerusalem. Israel began in 1948 but would not obtain Jerusalem until June 7,1967 under circumstances Israel could not foresee or plan out.

“It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations. The nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.” (Ezekiel 36:22-23)
